Up till 2016 elance still remain. One can transfer your profile on elance to upwork.com, so your invariably have one profiles on each network, but first you have to be sent an invitation email to do the transfer for now. I requested a transfer and the customer support person says she can only escalate my request for transfer, but can't promise, cos I haven't been sent the email. For now am still waiting for the email invite.

SO, elance still remain till 2016.

If your are a paid member on elance.com (as in, you are not a free user but have paid $10usd monthly subscription before). Hear this.

I had to chat with the elance customer support yesterday about my subscription plan and all, then towards the end of the chat I was like" How do I get bonus?" the customer support guy replied " through referal, but that their referal system isn't working for now" then the freebies dropped when he said " I have already credited your account with 10 connects free. I was like " Wow!".

So guys on elance.com, this a tip for you. Try yours if it works please come back here and share your experience.

PS: Guys, please don't go there and mess nija up ooo. I was civil and treated the customer support guy with respect, I think this was what worked for me, well, couple with the fact that am a paid member. Thought I should share " You know nah, anything for my nija people!

Writing. But recently, is more of proofreading. I've observed english proofreading pays more than writing. Proofreading takes less time and more money.

Elance.com is cool, now I make minimum of $20usd a day. But PATIENCE is A VIRTUE here. A sound profile stands you OUT. You have to compete with the big guys in US UK, Europe, even small and large companies bidding for the same job as you are. Its secret for me is to reduce my Quote prize, do a perfect work and make them your return client. Freelance is quite rowdy, I get so pissed, you have to be super fast in bidding to cope on freelance(Abeg no offence meant oo.).

Elance.com is much more for Professionals (no be all of us be professional sha).Though one thing I believe in is FOCUS, if you are well focus, you can make $s in any FREELANCING site, of course with your REAL IDENTITY, REAL COUNTRY and most importantly REAL TALENT. I must commend most Nigerians on Elance.com( I MEAN THE ONES THAT USE REAL PROFILE, REAL PICTURES, REAL LOCATION AND REAL TALENT). I am really proud seeing them bidding for same jobs as yours faithfully. There is this guy who works in as a journalist in Nigeria, the guy "dey hustle die", I like his strategy, his bidding quote is Rock Bottom Low( and most of these clients like cheap labour but perfect work); though one profit more when the client's job post indicates that he/she has more project (as a sharp guy you go quote Rock Bottom Low Prize lol.) the benefit with this strategy is your weak Naira for exchange rating to Dollar.A PARADOXICAL ADVANTAGE.. (hmmmm Oyibo, suoppppu)

Like for me, surprisingly, I have this Indian guy who has been paying me like chevron lol ( I don't take lightly of God's Grace and Favour"Na God Do am". Am doing proofreading for him three days going more on the way, though the prize isn't big big, but is way better than writing articles. I get mad when I see folks here writing articles 500 for $1 Whaaaaaaaaaat!!! When am currently negotiating 800 words for $22 this is even because this is my first work with the client.( Hope I didn't come across as boastful "Abeg Sorry Oo lol)

Well as for me, I have settled with English Proofreading for now, I have learnt from weeks past especially on Elance.com, MY ADVICE: Clients prefer a well Specific Profile; You can't be a professional Proofreader/Data Entry Specialist (Story for the gods) your profile overview, service description, Portfolio samples, shill must strongly show what your well focused service is. I made that mistake when I started, using one tiny davidic stone( If david for bible catch me ehnnnn!!) to kill all the birds( representing Goliath) flying around Elance.com airspace.

Well until one God sent Man from The US gave me 2 document to format, outline and proofread with $60usd offer from him at his first mail to me, which happen after I had already exhausted all my connects as a new member on the site, that's why I call him "God Sent". Though I started in August, am heading to 100usd if am awarded this $22usd bid for 800 words article on Online medical school. The most captivating part of my experiences in Elance.com was that I paid my subscription fee from the first client I worked for.

Yea, There are less scampers there, less crowded, more professional *they even reviews your profile before granting you permit to use the platform* but it's very hard to secure projects*exhausted my connects without a project * and Indians no plenty there ... I understand that. In fact, am looking at more longer term clients. Just wrote a sample for one guy who will bring a lotta biz, I offered to write d sample for free in my bid n he's satisfied wit d sample.

Talking about assignments, there is this Indian dude who was looking for 3 recommendation letters. I had a nice chat wit this guy o, untill d nigga decided to give it to one madam. I asked him y, he said she has more experience. Dude din't know dat there is a difference btw work experience n relevant experience. Na so d mumsi mess am up. All those while i still kept chatting wit him. He now decided to give me one of the letters, when i finished his work, dude was like...beautiful, excellent, awesome, you r d best. For mind, i dey feel like don. Yesterday, he told me to bid on his 5day old project, and he gave me d job b4 I could blink. At least, I'v learnt something from chidinho, I will encourage him to tell his friends tho I feel he must hv been telling em about me.

Ironically I work on elance.com, yesterday a client I bided a project from sent me this msg below . US is his location.

Please I need your advise(s) guys. This is a work before pay thingy. He wants the finished work sent to his aweber email. What step should I take how should I go about it? ( Ladywriter and other Gurus in the house kindly help me out here)

Though his review looks good he has verified and made payment before, can I ask him to send me reviews first? Cos am quite new on elance.com
