1. Your profile isn't a focused one. I see so many profession hiding in one single profile; remember you are selling "a brand" If I may ask, what are you selling? I see:

A Writer( article writing, article rewriting)
A Researcher,
A proofreader an editor
A Typist,
An Administrative officer
A data processor
An internet researcher
A web searcher
A graphic designer (Microsoft word, excel, Corel draw, conversion of word to PDF)

2. You need to change your tittle because it totally disagree with your first sentence. Use "Adept Data Processor" or Professional Proofreading and Editing Service

3. Your tittle doesn't fit the content in your overview. If you are a Writer, Researcher, Proofreading(er) and editing(or)

Your profile should sound something like this:

A Professional Proofreader/Editor with over 8 years of experience in the publishing industry. I bring promptness, meticulous attention to details and genuine enthusiasm for the work. 5 years of years in the field of Education has made me adept in the art of clear, informative and colourful communication.

The above simply is an example of a tailored (focus) overview. A client who needs an editor or proofreader should be please he/she is reading from one.

4. Please remove this " I am willing to wite a 100 words article as sample for you" trust me every one will be asking you for sample, instead build a robust sample portfolio

5. From my deductions You are either an Editor-Proofreader or a Data Processor Specialist so choose!

Been a Writer of course align with proofreading/editing. What doesn't are:

- Typist
- Administrative officer
- data processor
- Internet researcher
- web searching
- Graphic designing
- Microsoft word
- Excel
- Corel draw
- Conversion of word to PDF

I totally understand how Freelancer.com is " chasing every job post" but trust me most client out there take what I have mentioned into consideration. In other freelancing sites like upwork etc you can't fly with these flaws. However, because of the Sallah Season I will reconstruct your profile Free of Charge for you even with the way it is. (but should use it only on freelancer.com). Only if I read your reply to this post.

I couldnt help but laugh. This is really hillarious.

The guy has legitimate fears knowing how some Nigerians can reason. He rightly fears Nigerians will be banned from working there and he will lose his income. Economic fear it is. Well, @victor101 see the humour in his email.

The guy just needs to learn how to pass his message without being so vulgar.

Having said that, I unfortunately feel that with the seeming desperation that some have already exhibited his logic is valid.

Well, for us that hire people from upwork and would love Nigerians to benefit too, ONE ADVICE - TAKE IT EASY! You won't make money that fast.

I am very impressed with this thread. As a matter of fact I have been wondering why Nigerian youths are not very active on upwork especially.

I outsource all non-core skills in my business to upwork and I am always happy. This year alone I have spent $2400 dollars on upwork.

All my workers have been indians as they have great ICT skills.

God bless victor101for opening this thread but first I will point out something....do not have money alone as a motivation. Yes money should motivate you but do not make it all about money. Believe me you will not be hired.

My first worker did my branding for $150 and since then I have retained him as my permanent brand consultant. I have paid him over $1000 since last year December.

As someone has said here GET VERY VERY GOOD in some skill. Do not carry this Nigerian shortcut, quick route mentality to upwork. You will not succeed.

I like the fact that I will review you and pass the results to the site owners without you seeing what I reviewed. There is also the reviews you can see.

Its sort of an online HR department for my company. I assess workers report and decide who to hire. So first thing first, GET A SKILL AND BE TERRIFIC IN THAT SKILL.

Anybody complaining of the government as a youth in this current global economy is a joke.

Some of us have to be truthful. If you want to come on a site to show ppl you make money from freelancing atleast come fully prepared. Just talking and talking when you know Africans don't like to read see doesn't do it. Just let them see a proof since that is the only thing that works on the mind of skeptic Africans waiting to brand the other man making online genuinely a scammer

You know what? Most people in Nigeria will always doubt no matter what you tell them. Don't blame them because of the mess we got ourselves into. The Mess of scam,419 and mistrust. Have earned from odesk now upwork (elance is joining them this september). Am a part-time freelancer.

OK, it's good you have a niche in mind before you start, don't be a jack of all trade.

One thing to have in mind is that people are willing to pay for any service you can offer as far as they have a need for it. The issue is what are you good at, what is your passion?

Writers are making money, graphic artists are making money, Web developers are making money, the list is endless.

What is your passion and do you have the necessary skill? If no, quit NL for a week and learn it, and then come back here and ask how to start making money with your new skill.

Focus is important in order to achieve result.
