Officials in Liberia have released the first confirmed image of a captured Ebola victim who rose from the dead. The name of the victim has not been released by the WHO, and news of the patient rising from the dead comes only hours after the United States announced its first Ebola victim in Dallas, Texas.

The Liberian government is accusing the United States of creating Ebola as a bioweapon to use for future wars. Citizens of Liberia have expressed outrage and concern that the US may have tested an ‘evolved’ form of the virus on their nation’s populace, not forseeing the virus’ spread reaching beyond medical containment.

The first reports of Ebola victims rising from the dead was reported by Liberia’s National Newspaper. Initially, officials from the World Health Organization fled in shock and horror as the Ebola patients suddenly arose from the dead. After organizing military reinforcements and obtaining increased containment measures, World Health Organization’s special operations staff quickly responded with military assistance and quarantined the two Ebola victims who arose from the dead.

With Texas now infested with an unknown amount of Ebola patients, nearby Kansas has declared a state of emergency. Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has declared October “Zombie Awareness Month” and the state is on high alert for a zombie outbreak. Homes across the state are to receive pamphlets warning them of how to prevent the spread of Ebola and what to do if an Ebola Victim falls dead and then starts to show life again.

Updates will be made to this report as details become available. Please continue to watch television and online news sources for the latest details. Officials estimate the Ebola virus will spread to over 5 million people within two months. The virus is deadly if not treated. It is currently not known how many people the Dallas Ebola victim came in contact with before quarantine measures were put into place.

Wang, Africa’s last polar bear, has died, according to the Johannesburg Zoo.

Sapa reported on Wednesday that the bear was put down by chief veterinarian Dr Brett Gardener, as he was suffering from liver and heart failure.

According to spokesperson Jenny Moodley, he was diagnosed with liver problems in November 2010.

She said, “At 30 years polar bears are considered to have reached their full lifespan for the species.”

Wang was born in 1984 and arrived at Joburg Zoo from China in 1986 as part of a conservation programme.

Wang’s partner, GeeBee, who had lived with him for 27 years, passed away in January due to natural causes.

Moodley said, “His distraught keeper… Agnes Maluleke ensured that in the recent weeks his days were filled with enrichment programmes and special treats, including his own Valentine’s Day celebration.”

The zoo decided in 2010 it would not be replacing the polar bears, and Moodley said the decision was still in effect.

The zoo is dedicating the September 14 Zoo Trot to Wang as a tribute.

Uduaghan Picks Voter’s Card, Urges Deltans to take exercise seriously

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has urged Deltans to take the ongoing collection of voters’ card seriously, as he’s currently in Abigborodo to pick his.

Speaking to journalists on Friday in his community, Abigborodo shortly after picking his card, the governor harped on the need for Deltans to avail themselves of the ongoing exercise and pick up their voters’ cards.

The Governor, who picked his card at exactly 2:20pm, said he was impressed with the massive turnover of members of his community and appealed to all registered Deltans to go out and collect their voters’ cards.

According to him, he declared Friday as work free day in the state to enable all that have registered to take part actively in the exercise.

The Governor admitted that the period of exercise was short, but charged Deltans to make the best use of the period so as to vote for candidates of their choice in the forthcoming elections.

He said; “As you can see, I have just picked up my voter’s card, the process is very simple.”

”I am appealing to Deltans once again to make the best use of this period to go for their cards that will enable them vote in the forthcoming elections.

Your card is your power to vote a candidate of your choice. We should not fail to take part in the exercise, it is very important.”

Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dame Gesila Khan on her part described the exercise as a huge success, that she was impressed with the turnout of Deltans across the state.

She disclosed that the exercise would take place in 3,624 polling units across the state.

The World Health Organization says beds in Ebola treatment centers in West Africa are filling up faster than they can be provided.Spokesman Gregory Hartl said in Geneva Friday that the flood of patients to newly opened treatment centers shows that the outbreak’s size is far larger than official counts show. WHO said Thursday that recorded death and case tolls may “vastly underestimate the magnitude of the outbreak.”
Hartl said that an 80-bed treatment center opened in Liberia’s capital in recent days filled up immediately. The next day, dozens more people showed up to be treated.

According to WHO figures, the outbreak, which began in Guinea and has spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, has killed more than 1,060 people and sickened nearly 2,000.

Suspected Islamist Boko Haram fighters have abducted dozens of boys and men in a raid on a remote village in northeast Nigeria, loading them onto trucks and driving them off, witnesses who fled the violence said on Friday.

The kidnappings come four months after Boko Haram, which is fighting to reinstate a medieval Islamic caliphate in religiously mixed Nigeria, abducted more than 200 schoolgirls from the village of Chibok.
Several witnesses who fled after the Sunday’s raid on Doron Baga, a sandy fishing village near the shores of Lake Chad, said the militants had burned several houses and that as many as 97 people were unaccounted for.

“They left no men or boys in the place; only young children, girls and women,” said Halima Adamu, sobbing softly and looking exhausted after a 180-kilometre road trip on the back of a truck to the northern city of Maiduguri.

“They were shouting ‘Allah Akbar’ (God is greatest), shooting sporadically. There was confusion everywhere. They started parking our men and boys into their vehicles, threatening to shoot whoever disobey them. Everybody was scared.”

The villagers said six older men were also killed in Sunday’s raid.
