Phones / Re: Celtel's Unity Tariff Is Deceptive! by vikumo(m): 12:42am On Apr 13, 2007
Guys, Me2U is a celtel brand name, the only problem was that they were slow to go to the market with the name, but they had already registered the name with NCC. Glo is using the name illegally and there is already a complain before NCC. Glo may be asked to withdraw the name because they are clearly using it illegally.

I think overall, celtel's tariff is cheaper. Given that there are some issues currently with migrating to the tariffs, these are normal challenges that occur when a new service is implemented. As soon as they are sorted, the real benefit will begin to be appreciated.

Family / Re: Must I Marry Her Because Of Pregnancy? by vikumo(m): 2:47pm On Feb 15, 2007
I've read the replies to this post and i think a lot of people are talking out of emotions rather than fact of the matter.

First of all, marriage is not something you go into because you need to salvage a mistake (unwanted babies), infact you will be making a greater mistake if you marry in order to salvage a situation such as the one you find yourself in.

I have a few questions for you:

1. why do you think you are not ready?
2. do you suspect she purposely got pregnant to tie you (i do) especially after both of you have agreed that marriage was not going to be part of relationship consideration for now?
3. assuming babies didn't come, are you sure you could spend the rest of your life with her?

The basis of my questions are simple.

I have been married for three years and if you can't answer any of this questions clearly and positively, forget about marrying her and just plan to support and give your children the best you can as their father.

Believe me, if the motives and foundation is wrong, you will only be building an unhappy future for the family.

May the grace of God guide you.

Peace,

Career / Re: Networking For Career Success by vikumo(m): 12:18pm On Jul 26, 2006
egenash,

Managing ones' image starts with as little as keeping a good personal hygine, wearing clean (not neccessarily expensive) ironed clothes that "fits" and looks smart on you. Ideally, these are part of our daily activities that people take for granted and you don't require a lot of money to do them.

As for books on personal/image management; there are many books that deals with different aspects of it e.g. you'll get books on public speaking, negotiation skills, actitudes e.t.c. Books in this category are like building blocks, as you learn several topics covering different aspects, you would be on the right track.

However, not everybody learns from reading books. Some people learn from personal experience and the environment they find themselves. Also people learn from role models/public personalities that presents the kind of image they want.

Lastly, use the internet (search engine) to search for materials on personal image management, you'll be suprised at the amount of information/guide that you will have at your disposal.

Hope this helps.

Kgreat

I quite agree with your summation on networking. Most established individuals/business personalities we know and hear of today used this strategy to a great length in their success story. However, i will add that beyond meeting people and establishing a networking relationship, most people dont know that managing their personal image to create a positive look and feel (charming, friendly, intelligent e.t.c.) goes a long way to determine how well people will be willing to relate and maintain contact with you. I learnt in my early years that image management creates the kind of value that brand equity has for a well managed product and i have used this a great deal to my advantage. Peeps, don't get me wrong, it's got nothing to do with how rich or poor you are, it's got more to do with how you present yourself to the public. We all know that a bottle of coke in a street corner will not be the same price as a bottle of coke in a five star hotel.

To drive my point closer home; back in my master class days, an opening came up for call center agents in my firm (vmobile), i had an opportunity to submit C.Vs, ofcourse it was natural that i only told my course mates whom i was friends with (network). The catch was, the screening process had aspects that considered personal appearance, carriage and phonetics. Ofcourse, the ones that didn't manage this aspects of themselves didn't make it to the next stage. Just one person came out of it successful and for real, she met this criterias. Even in interviews, people look out for this and i really believe that it goes a long way.
Family / Re: Why Do Women Get Fat After Marriage? by vikumo(m): 5:12pm On Jul 21, 2006
Me thinks it depends on the woman. After our baby came, my wife almost drove me crazy with her quest to get back to shape. She was a size 12 before child birth, but got up to size 14 after child birth. She got a fitness trainer who came in 3 times a week for two months, and it worked. She got back to size 12 and everyone keeps saying she doesn't look like someone who have given birth to a child. For me, as much as i felt she was waisting money bringing in a personal trainer, i appreciated the fact that she wanted to look good for herself and maybe me, and she gave her all to it, despite her schedule of work, cooking and taking care of the home and baby, plus ime. i appreciated the fact that it came out fine. shocked shocked shocked
