an unidentified Nigerian man was found buried from the head to the waist and lifeless after apparently digging up the grave of a dead person in search of body parts. The deceased suspect’s accomplices fled in terror after seeing half his body get stuck mysteriously in the grave. His death has generated concern among the terrified residents of the Ilobu community. It was gathered that the victim and his partners in crime allegedly came to Tonto compound in the early hours of the day with a plot to exhume the corpse of an aged woman and sever her decomposed head, allegedly for ritual purposes A credible source in the community, who did not want to be named, told Saturday Tribune that “this particular corpse was buried five years ago and the suspected ritualist attended the burial in Ilobu.” He explained: “There are indications that he did not dig the grave alone. What we discovered is that he may have been attempting to cut off the head of the corpse when something suddenly hooked him as he managed to force half of his body into the grave to cut off the head. “He got hooked and died on the spot, a development which possibly compelled other ritualists to run away from the scene so that they may not be affected by the mysterious thing that killed (their colleague).” While commenting on how the residents of Ilobu got to know about the incident, since it happened in the wee hours, the source said a woman who was hawking ogi (a local corn meal) early in the morning of Wednesday spotted the torso of the suspect sticking out of the grave and raised the alarm. “His corpse was discovered around 6.30am and his head was covered in mud. The residents here alerted the police division in Ilobu and they later came to evacuate the body and put it in their van before taking him away,” he said. Saturday Tribune was informed that the remains of the suspected ritualist were subsequently taken to and deposited at the mortuary of the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Osogbo, the state capital. When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr Ibrahim Maishanu, said he was aware of the incident, and that the police would conduct investigation to determine what led to the suspect’s death. He said the police could not confirm that the suspect was a ritualist because of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his corpse at a grave in Ilobu; that they would have to investigate the matter before giving any concrete information on the incident. www.igberetvnews.com/?p=2713

When two young women graduate from the U.S. Army's prestigious Ranger School on Friday, they will cement their places at the forefront of a new generation of females in combat roles. Local media have identified the two as Captain Kristen Griest, a military police officer from Connecticut, and 1st Lieutenant Shaye Haver of Texas, an Apache attack helicopter pilot. They became the first women to complete the Ranger School combat leadership course that constitutes one of the most physically and mentally challenging military training programs. Over a period lasting at least 61 days, participants endure patrol and combat simulations in the toughest of environments while often deprived of food and sleep. Despite having made it this far, however, the two women will still not be allowed to serve with the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, which has yet to lift its ban on female soldiers. But the Pentagon is putting finishing touches on a plan that would allow women access to all military posts, with a few exceptions which the Secretary of Defense will rule on in January 2016 http://news.yahoo.com/photos/first-female-u-s-army-rangers-slideshow/first-female-u-s-army-rangers-photo-1440095222623.html

LAGOS—A 23-year-old man, Ugochukwu Ekwe, yesterday committed suicide at Festac Town, Lagos, over the colour of his skin, being an albino. His dangling body was discovered in an apartment on 311 Road, Festac Town, Lagos, where he lived with his parents and siblings. Vanguard gathered that the deceased refused to eat since Saturday in protest of what he said was people’s rejection and stigmatisation because of his skin condition. He was also said to have refused to go to church with other members of his family yesterday. When the family returned from church, Ugo, as he was fondly called, was dangling from the end of a rope tied to the ceiling fan, and one of his siblings raised alarm. Vanguard gathered that the deceased had attempted to take his life before now. A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “I was returning from church when I saw people gathered in front of the block of flats. When I enquired, I was told that Ugochukwu had committed suicide. He finished his secondary school education since 2009. “I also learned he had threatened to take his life before now, saying he was frustrated. Later, we saw some policemen from Festac Division, who removed the body.” His mother and other members of his family cried uncontrollably as sympathisers thronged their abode. Spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, Patricia Amadin, said she was yet to get details from Area ‘E’ Commander, Mr. Frank Mba. She, however, promised to reach Vanguard later, but had not done so at press time.u

He used special prosthetic limbs made to enable him to move around on all fours easily. This is the man so intrigued by goats he gave it all up to live with them in the mountains. Thomas Thwaites spent three days as part of a herd in the Swiss Alps while investigating goat behavior. And the designer even considered having a fake stomach fitted to let him to eat grass, just like his four-legged friends. He told Mashable; "My goal was to take a holiday from the pain and worry of being a self-conscious being, able to regret the past and worry about the future."He said "I was able to keep up for maybe a kilometer or so on this migration down the side of this kind of rocky mountain, and then they just left me in the dust. "So I spent the rest of the day trying to catch up to them and eventually I found them again, and it was quite nice, in the actual soft grassy pasture bit. "But actually heading down the mountain was petrifying. Because if I fell I didn’t have any hands to stop me from hitting a rock." Thwaites has written a book about his experiences, called ‘GoatMan; How I Took a Holiday from Being Human’.
