Technology Market / Airconditioner Professionals, Please Help!!! by VIsomebody: 12:42pm On Nov 30, 2018
Hello,

Firstly, thanks for checking. I would like to get ideas from you guys.

I am planning to move in a new apartment and want to get a split Airconditioner. Knowing the matter of prepaid meter and power hugging appliances like A/C. After reading so much about the LG GenCOOL Dual Inverter Split unit and also watched so many practical reviews, i have decided not to get anything else.

HELP 1
This morning, i called a friend who is an A/C engineer to inform him of my plan and he said he wont advise me to. I was surprised and asked why?

He claimed tho the LG GenCOOL looks good with its features but that there is a "Panel" which makes the AC pull 110V instead of 220V and that if the panel happens to be faulty, its difficult to fix or likely not-fixable which they would have to convert the AC direct to 220 which "in his own words" doesnt sound reasonable.

HELP 2
I then told him the reason why i wanted the GenCOOL, which he knows its because of the Prepaid meter billing system. So i asked him if using the normal (Non-GenCOOL) AC wont amount to financial suicide. He then asked why would i want to put AC on Prepaid Meter and said i should just tell my electrician to connect it directly to the feeder pole, i laughed and asked how then would i be charged for that usage and i cant afford the defaulting fee? He said its not illegal and its what they do very well, he even said i can ask a "NEPA" official to connect it for me.

So, my AC / NEPA ogas, help me oooo. How do i do?

Thank you.

Crime / Beware Of This New Phone Scam by VIsomebody: 6:36am On Nov 23, 2017
Hello NLers,

I am a full/long time NLer and only opened this account for anonymity and to keep the thief I am about to report.

This is a heads up for people who are engaged in product/services kind of business. Beware and alert.

*** My Story ***
So I got a call from this Airtel number yesterday morning around 7am. The caller told me he picked my phone number from my Signage on my shop (he was right). I have a shop where I brand tshirts, sell some materials and offer other services. He said they need some branded tshirts and i needed to come to this office to show some sample as well as get the specifications they wanted. He asked me to come to his office at the Nigeria Railway Corporation at Ebute Metta by 9am and I agreed as the place is not a very long distance from my place.

Fast forward to 9am, i was still at home but prepared to leave for his place but noticed this serious traffic on the road. I called him to apologise that i might be late a lil and he started complaining how Nigerians like Africa timing, saying his boss (who wants to see me ) is waiting for me and that they need to go to alausa from there. I apologised and told him I'll bike to beat the traffic, he said better.

After talking to a lot bike men. Almost all would not go that route and the ones that agreed charged very high! Charging N700 for journey a commercial bus charges N50. I just ignored them and took the bus still hoping I'll apologise to him when I get there.

While in the bus, he called again, asking my location and even acted very real, saying if know I would delay him, I should better go back and not bother coming, I kept apologising and promised him I'll soon be there just like anyone hoping to get a job does.

Long story short, I got there, called him. He asked me to come in the main gate and I met him.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos. The Note4 houses all my business resources, Sample pictures, Chats with previous Clients, etc. It is my business internet Dept. The Duos has my Business lines.

When I got there, my Note 4 was down and I always have my 15kmah PowerBank with me whenever I am leaving home for any biz. So I plugged in the device to charge so I can get power to show them samples.

I met him and he asked me to come with him, we went into the Federal Medical Center in the Railway Corp compound. He asked me to sit at the waiting area in the Med centre that he'll be back, he went into a hallway which I observed and noticed some staff doctors were going in and out of that hallway. Few minutes, he came out and went the other way, still asking me to be patient that he'll be with me shortly which I said no problem. Then a couple of minutes, he came and sat by me asking me to show him the samples I have. I was showing him when he pointed to one as what the oga wants and said he should go and show oga, that he'll be back to get me so I'll go tell oga the price, telling me he told oga N3000 and that I shouldn't say anything lesser. He took my phone still plugged in the PowerBank and went into the hallway again.

My fellow NLers, that was how my Note 4 + PowerBank switched owners ooo.

I waited for like 20mins and didn't see him, I became restless. I called the Glo SIM in my Note 4, switched off, I called like 5 times, not available. I called his line, it rang but he dropped it. I thought he was still busy with the oga and waited few more minutes, I called again, rang and dropped. I went to the receptionist and told him there's this man I was here with and the first thing he asked was "He asked you to come for job abi?"
I said yes and the guy(receptionist) said that has been happening for a long time and they've been hoping to nab the man.

I learnt he picks people from random places and ask them to meet him there and they (clinic) only get informed after he has successfully gone with the device.

So everyone who gets job from clients should take note. Lesson Learnt!

Thanks.
