The United States has chosen to rejoin the organization in July, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) stated on Monday.

The United States will rejoin the UN organization for cultural affairs after ceasing all payments and declaring its full disengagement from it in 2011.


The decision, according to UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, was "a strong act of confidence in UNESCO and in multilateralism."


He continued by saying that it was also a vote of confidence in the agency's ability to carry out its mandate in the areas of culture, education, research, and information.

Utseoritselaju Uwatse, a Nigerian man, was found guilty of raping another college student in Ireland and was given a four-year prison sentence by an Irish court.

The Irish Mirror reported on Monday that Uwatse was found guilty of one count of rape in March 2023 for the offense that happened on April 20, 2018.

On the day of the incident, a group of college students got together for drinks in Cratloe Student Village before heading into Limerick City for a night out, according to Detective Garda McGrath's testimony to prosecuting attorney Conor Devally.

Hadi Sirika, the former aviation minister, revealed that less than N3 billion was spent on the Nigeria Air project.

In an interview with Arise Television that NEWSFILL was watching on Sunday, Sirika made this revelation.


Reported expenditures of N85 billion on the Nigeria Air project were refuted by the previous minister.

He believes the assertion to be unfounded and false.

Youssef, a five-year-old boy, was hacked to death with a machete by his mother, Hanaa, 29, at their Egyptian home. She then cooked and consumed chunks of his head.

The boy's body parts were discovered in buckets at the family home by Youssef's uncle, who called the police, who then detained Hanaa.

Following allegations that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was not used during the election in the Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has suspended the collation of results from that region.

Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, the state collation officer for the governor's race in Enugu State, made the decision.
Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 30350 votes, defeating Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party (LP), who received 1855 votes, according to the results announced by the LGA's collation officer, Ogbene Nnaemeka in Nkanu East.

"The INEC personnel argued that BVAS was not used, yet we are aware of what the Election Act states regarding BVAS's prohibited use. Thus, we are bringing this to your notice for your action".
