Happy 100 Posthumous Birthday To the Late Wife of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo , Madam Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo (née Adelana; November 25, 1915 – September 19, 2015), popularly known as HID, was born to a modest family in the small Ikenne community of Ogun State in Nigeria. She was married to politician Obafemi Awolowo from December 26, 1937 to his death in 1987. He famously referred to her as his "jewel of inestimable value". She was also a successful businesswoman and astute politician. She played an active role in the politics of Western Nigeria. She stood in for her husband in the alliance formed between the NCNC and the AG, called the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA), while he was tried and in jail. Seven people were reportedly killed with scores injured when suspected female suicide bomber in her 20s detonated her Improvised explosive Devices (IEDs) along Maiduguri – Mafa road on Sunday afternoon. Sources said.

The incident according to a police officer who is not authorized to talk to the press said, “The explosion took place at about 12 noon on Sunday near Welcome to Maiduguri Muna Garrage situated along Gamboru Ngala- Dikwa Mafa- Maiduguri troubled road.

Muna garrage is east and an outskirt of Maiduguri which is about 7 kilometres drive to Maiduguri metropolis that had witnessed series of deadly attacks by terrorists during the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency.

Unconfirmed report indicates that just yesterday (Saturday) an explosion occurred along the same area masterminded by a suspected suicide bomber who disguised among the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were scheduled to be lifted to camps in Maiduguri.

Our Correspondent gathered that the mangled bodies of the female suicide bomber were left at the scene while the 7 other victims including the injured were conveyed into undisclosed hospitals in Maiduguri.

when contacted, the Media Coordinator of Operation Lafiya Dole said, ” he has just been transfered from the zone and now in Abuja to work with the Minister of Defence, which according to him, he is not in the position to comment on such issue”.

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state, Mr. Abubakar Audu is dead. Mr. Audu died of undisclosed medical reasons shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared his victory at the elections inconclusive. Saharareporters could not determine the cause of Mr. Audu's death.
This makes Abubakar Audu the first leading gubernatorial candidate in Nigeria's history to ever die on election day

An 18-year-old man, Thomas Friday was on Monday sentenced to 30 days imprisonment by a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State for possession of Indian hemp.

The convict, who pleaded guilty to a one count charge, was caught with 75.9 grammes of Cannabis sativa, commonly called, Indian hemp.

Friday was arrested on Sept. 26 at Shendam in Jos and arraigned on Nov. 6.

While testifying before the court, the Prosecuting Counsel, Sarah Oketola, called one witness, Etsu Bamshi, an Exhibit Keeper with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, who tendered the following exhibits: packing of substance form, certificate of test analysis, scientific aid form and the accused person’s confessional statement.

The Counsel to the convict, Miss E. A. Bulus, pleaded for the mitigation of sentence.

Justice Lewis Allagoa, after hearing both parties, sentenced Friday to 30 days imprisonment without an option of fine.
