No alerts but I finally heard from them that they don’t have any receipts for my expenditures and auditor letter on file. Keep in mind that all the above was sent to them by registered mail and signed for by them over 4 months ago. Hopefully, the alert will come soon.

I got a mail from GEM in respect of a planned protest some moments ago. Who has an idea or received a similar mail? Honestly, it is sad what started so beautifully has now come to this. I'll encourage us to keep the peace and patience even in the face of pain we feel concerning our businesses. May God help us.

It's almost a month since the mail Fatiaforreal referred to above, which also said that those approved will receive their second tranche in about a month a less. Has anyone received their 2nd tranche? Na wa!

I received an email reminder that my receipts have not been received. The receipts and other requested documents were sent to them by courier and signed as delivered over 2 months ago. Very frustrating. Over one year since first tranche disbursement and the second tranche has become a unicorn.

Hmmm! My brother. Government, World Bank and the their partners mean well. They set out well, but the cause of the delay is what is baffling. Maybe manpower challenges, considering the number of applicants and grantees they have to cope with. The bottom line is that some businesses are suffering while some might have died before necessary intervention. We should continue to pray for them and our respective businesses to be successful.

I believe GEM suffers from the same problems that plague any laudable program in Nigeria, poor execution, stemming from corruption and ineptitude. From impractical goals/expected milestones to corrupt monitors. I doubt that world bank is the problem. Naija corruption is the main problem, I'm willing to bet. God help us.

Hello Abikun and other experts on this thread. We're in the hiring phase of our pure water biz and Can you please advice me as to the most profitable way to pay the employees? Is it salary or commission or a combination of the two. For the packers, are they paid based or how much they pack? Thanks.

I had issues with my entries not saving but it was later fixed and I was able to submit and request 2nd tranche. Does anyone have any idea of when we should be expecting it? Will it get here this year? I need that tranche to commence production. God help us all.

Back to our regularly scheduled programme. Did anyone have issues submitting their information on the dashboard?

No. I did a password reset using the forgot password link and the email address that I've been using to communicate with GEM/KPMG.

Check your emails. Online portal is now open to enter the recently submitted spreadsheet. You can request 2nd tranche after you submit which will be approved if and after your monitor approves.

The visit was rescheduled to today, it's quite easy if you have been doing considerably well.
She asked questions about my product, asked for samples, then next asked me for my grant memo which I brought out, she was snapping most of these items.
She then asked me to call all six staffs and excused me, she interviewed them one after the other, asking about pay, work conditions, etc.
I returned back, and we went over the milestones, and every thing I submitted in the email we sent to the KPMG staff. Asked for evidence of how I have spent the grant, statement of account to show I have used it all, asked if I have added funds of my own, proof of such funds, then she snapped receipts, when through my sales records, inspected the machines, asked for any challenges and the likes.
She finally said she was very impressed, and told me most places she has visited haven't even started operations. Asked how I was managing to pay staffs promptly, I told her how hard things have been, we discussed generally and she left.

Just prepare all your records down, it's basically a them trying to see how u have used the money, met your milestones, and test how you have matched recent reality with your idea.

Let's hope they pay the second tranche soon, when I asked she said that's not for her to say

In the developed world, you will not learn the identity of a deceased person or see his/her pictures on the media till immediate family has been notified. But in Nigeria, it's a race to see who is the first to post it.

I agree with the original poster and well written too. One of my pet peeves with Nigerians is the fact that we have no respect or privacy for the dead. We see many gory pictures of accident victims everyday even here on nairaland. When Nigerians, happen upon an accident, the race is to be the first person to post the pictures on social media. Can you imagine finding out you lost a loved one by seeing his/her mangled dead body on Facebook or nairaland?

Has anyone been contacted by their monitor? What did you discuss?
