The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has warned his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, to steer clear of the October 10 governorship election in the state. Wike had on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday declared that Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party will win the Ondo Governorship election. The Rivers governor claimed that the All Progressives Congress was putting INEC under pressure to win the poll for Akeredolu, having lost in Edo State. However, Akeredolu, who spoke through the state Commissioner for Information, Mr Donald Ojogor, said there would not be any room for Wike to influence the process of the October 10 election. He said, “In all aspects, Governor Wike deserves respect not just as governor but as a critical stakeholder in the democratic journey. He has his inalienable rights as a citizen to express his mind and make comments about whatever he feels strongly about. “However, what amuses us is his imperious attitude and recourse to spurious allegations just because of an election. He should know that the people of the Ondo State who have a history of rejecting external influence and domination, will resist his attempt to play the role of a godfather in Ondo state. Ondo is not Rivers. “The man ought to know that utterances of public office holders must be measured and their delivery ought to be in line with the mood of the people. The people of the state will resist Wike here even if he had roared elsewhere successfully. For emphasis, his imperialistic approach is most unfortunate and very unbecoming.” https://punchng.com/ondo-is-not-rivers-akeredolu-tells-wike/ |
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, who was recently re-elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, is free to return to the All Progressives Congress if he feels the PDP is not working for him. Wike, however, said the Edo State governor must never forget that he was given an umbrella when he was left in the rain. The Rivers State governor said this on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday. When asked what he would do if Obaseki left the PDP, Wike said, “I don’t want to discuss something that is not going to be possible. However, assuming it happens, so what? That is politics. If the governor believes that the PDP is no longer a party for him to actualise his vision and his mission, there is nothing wrong but I don’t believe that it is going to happen because the governor has consistently told us that there is no way he will leave the PDP. If he leaves the PDP, people in Edo State will not be happy. “And he is somebody I have that trust in that he will not leave the party. This is a party that clothed him. This is a party that when it was raining, gave him an umbrella.” https://punchng.com/obaseki-free-to-return-to-apc-if-wike/ |

Obaseki on his way to APC ? Time will tell. Reactions:
|
Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, declared yesterday that President Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered as father of democracy in Nigeria for ensuring last Saturday’s governorship election in the state was free, fair and credible. Obaseki stated this while receiving his Certificate of Return at the head office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin City, the Edo State capital. The re-elected governor, who hailed President Buhari’s insistence on the need for credible election, noted that the president had the option to ensure the APC candidate won the governorship election in the state but decided to do the right thing by allowing the votes of the people to count. Obaseki as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated his main challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), last Saturday to retain the governorship position of the state. Speaking after receiving his certificate of return, Obaseki said, “I thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the part he played in ensuring a free, fair and credible election. He will be remembered as the father of democracy in Nigeria. He had a choice to ensure his party was declared winner but insisted that the right thing be done.” Obaseki however extended the olive branch by calling on former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole; gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu and other members of the APC to join hands with his administration to develop the state. He said, “I use this opportunity to reach out to our brothers on the other side of the divide as we are one family in the pursuit to provide public good for our citizens. The election shows that they trust us more now to provide leadership. It doesn’t mean the opposition parties don’t have a role to play. “I use this opportunity to extend the hands of fellowship to my brother, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his other colleagues in the APC as well as other parties to join hands with us to move Edo forward. “I call on Adams Oshiomhole that the fight is over and he should come and join in building the house which he was part of, in laying the foundation. We have no malice but only disagree on the approach in moving Edo forward”. The governor also commended the leadership of INEC for the unbiased role they played in the election. Hailing the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, for not buckling under pressure as an umpire, the governor said advocated the deployment of more technology as a measure to ensure fair and credible polls. He stated: “I want to thank the INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for his intellect in introducing technology to provide transparency in the process. He should be hailed by all as INEC was able to view results as the counting of votes was ongoing in units across the state. This has introduced another ornament of transparency in the way we do election in Nigeria. “Technology is the way to go, if we must have free, fair and credible elections in the future. Edo people spoke and their voices were heard because INEC did its best, did its job and decided to remain impartial in the whole process of the election”. The governor who praised the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its tenacity and doggedness in ensuring the party got victory also saluted the Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, for the fatherly role he played in ensuring the election held peacefully. He added: “I also thank the Benin Monarch, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, for his fatherly role in ensuring that the election was peaceful. I thank Edo people and Clergy men for their prayers and support towards ensuring a successful election. I thank God for helping Edo State conduct an election which many predicted would be bloody and characterised by violence, but God stepped in and made it peaceful”. Presenting the certificate of return to the governor, the INEC national commissioner in charge of Edo, Bayelsa and Rivers states, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu, said the certificate presentation is in fulfilment of the statutory obligation of the commission as required by the electoral law. She noted: “This occasion is made possible because of the successful conduct of the Governorship election on Saturday. I must thank all stakeholders and the good and peace-loving people of Edo State for your contribution and commitment to credible and safe conclusion of the election process in Edo State. INEC has played its humble part and we always maintain that a successfully conducted election is a collective effort as this election has proven to be”. The resident electoral commissioner in Edo State, Alalibo Johnson expressed appreciation to the security agencies for their collaboration which led to the huge success of the poll. He said, “Section 76 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended has mandated the commission to issue Certificate of Return within seven days to the candidate who wins the election. This event is another fulfilment of the law.” https://www.reubenabati.com.ng/index.php/component/k2/item/18510-pmb-will-be-remembered-as-father-of-democracy-obaseki

*Late last year I attended a certain workshop in Kakamega and there is this one speaker Dr.Wafula whose joke still lingers in my mind to date.He cracked this joke in his closing remarks* *He started by asking his audience:.. "who should pay family bills and take care of the children?Who is to pay school fees of children? Who should toil to provide for the home? The whole audience shouted.... "Daddy!".* *Who should the child buy a car for after graduation? The women answered loudly... "mother!!!"* *Who should be invited to America if a child is rich and works abroad? ... "Mother of course", roared the women in the audience.* *Who should die first among the parents? "Daddy!"... all the women in the hall screamed....* *Truly and sadly such is the fate of any responsible man in life* *When a lady is single and has four problems and her fiancee has six problems, immediately they get married, the man's problems become ten automatically (10) as the man immediately starts to carry the family problems....* *Men are made to struggle to take care of family problems, children's education, home maintenance, and virtually all provisions of life....women are only there to help you* *Due to these challenges and unending struggle, men tend to wear out faster and probably die early as a result of stress...* *...hence, it is important for men to ensure that they don't allow their wives to push them into unsustainable family commitments and expensive lifestyle that he knows he cannot afford or cope with in the long run...* *....if you do, you run the risk of stress and continuous family unrest. Ensure you take right decisions at all times... do not kill yourself.* *If you suddenly slump and die, surprisingly, life will continue...you will be shocked in your grave...mummy will even marry or have another side husband earlier than you could imagine* *Most men are worn out by the time their children graduate or retiring at same period... all the struggle would have already taken serious tolls on his health and life.... and dies prematurely, leaving Mama alone to enjoy. Trust women, they quickly settle down while you are long gone...* *Be sensible, never allow your wife to goad you into embarking on long term stress and burden, you can least afford.....* *Take note *When children grow into adulthood, women tend to shift more attention to them at your expense. Infact she is seeing a replacement of you in them...* *Men should take care of their health, live and eat well as you may go prematurely if you have been subjecting your life to excessive stress for too long.* *It's even more terrible in marriages under storm. In Yoruba land, our mothers in fact call their male children... "My husband". (Oko mi.) So when your son grows to your height and size, with your shoes and clothes matching your son exactly.... your wife gladly starts to feel fulfilled....you know what that means? The people that will take over from you are already ready* *As you get older in your marriage, be careful, and avoid creating rift in your home. Be at peace with your wife and children, if not you are endangering yourself, as you are hardly needed any longer .* *Know that women wax stronger spiritually at old age..they pray more at this age while men become weaker spiritually unfortunately at this age.* *Men should live a good life....... enjoy your life as you shoulder the responsibilities, eat the sweat of your labour when you are still strong....* *Whether you like it or not, there is every probability that your wife will outlive you, they are genetically designed so and particularly you are almost always older than her (barring accident of life) She will be around to live to complete the unfinished "assignment" and consume the balance of the "dividends of parenthood".* *So while you are still agile, train your children, love your wife dearly, take care of your home, but take care of yourself too please...pause in the midst of the stress and rest and give yourself a treat as late evening of life are always unfavourable for men for many reasons highlighted above.* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWarD8emq-k *I pray for all responsible men out there, great fathers and wonderful husbands, that the evening of our lives will be favourable unto us by God's grace. Amen* Copied |

That's not good enough, but Obaseki is also guilty of the same offence |
I took my campaign and the Simple Agenda, the Manifesto of Hope, to the women in Ologbo Community in Ikopba-Okha LGA. What I saw was total neglect. The women lamented that they have been forgotten by Governor Obaseki's admin with no benefit, and development in the area. The women said the Ologbo community has not had electricity supply for the past four years, adding that the last time they had power supply in the community was during the former Gov.
