Watching the inauguration ongoing now in America,seriously I feel like crying for Africa and again I ask,is Nigeria cursed?

All the former presidents both democrats and republicans are all in the inauguration. Even Mrs Clinton that ran against Mr Trump is in the capitol hill. Politics has taken backseat while America is topmost.

Back here in Nigeria and two years after election,president Buhari is still running after former president. APC is still talking like we are in campaign.

Seriously it will take us another 100years to get it right.

Federal High Court redeploys Justices Liman, Abang, nine others

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, has redeployed 11 judges in different divisions of the court.

Two prominent judges of the court, Justice Mohammed Liman of Port Harcourt Division and Justice Okon Abang of the Abuja Division, are affected by the posting.

The Chief Judge, in a circular dated December 21, 2016 and addressed to “All Judges of Federal High Court,” redeployed Justice Liman from Port Harcourt to Enugu Division, and Justice Abang redeployed from Abuja to Asaba Division, Delta State.

The circular obtained from a lawyer close to the Chief Judge’s office directed the affected judges to resume at their new stations by January 30.

The Chief Judge gave “the recent developments in the court” as the reason for the posting.

Details of the said “recent developments” were not stated in the circular.

According to the circular, the posting would not affect the criminal cases the affected judges are currently handling.

It read in part, “In view of the fact some divisions are currently short of judges following the recent developments in the court, it has become necessary to take urgent steps to fill in existing vacancies.

“Affected judges are expected to resume in their new divisions by January 30, 2017.

“The judges shall continue with the hearing of criminal cases currently before them, as well as at least two witnesses have testified.”

Others affected include Justice S. Saidu (moved from Lagos to Port Harcourt); Justice A.O. Faji (from Asaba to Lagos); Justice R. M. Aikawa (from Sokoto to Lagos); Justice B.O. Quadri (from Port Harcourt to Abuja); and Justice Mallong Hoommuk (from Port Harcourt to Lafia).

Others are, Justice K.K. Dagat (from Lagos to Kano); Justice Saleh Idrissa (Kano to Sokoto); Justice H.I.O. Oshomah (from Lafia to Port Harcourt) and Justice J.K. Omotosho) from Kano to Port Harcourt.

Please this post is not to insult anyone or the office of mr president but as a Nigerian that is so worried with the way things are going in the country,I want someone to tell me which institution of government that has not been destroyed under the current administration. Lets talk.

Voting took place inside the compound of the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for Rivers South East senatorial district, Magnus Abe, PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report.
Mr. Abe’s house is located at Bera, Gokana Local Government Area, LGA.
The materials used for the voting exercise held in his compound are believed to be those meant for his unit 10, Ward 16, Bera, Gokana LGA.
It appeared voters cooperated with the politician as they thronged the compound to vote.
As the voting progressed, there were scores of security operatives, including soldiers and police officers in the compound.
People whose identify could not be verified were in charge of the exercise, while those who were confirmed to be INEC staff just hung around the compound holding trivial discussions with aides of Mr. Abe.
Among them, there was a corps member and two others who wore INEC vests.
As the voting went on underway inside Mr. Abe’s compound, heavily armed men led two buses and a pick-up truck to the compound.

The vehicles were loaded with already used voting materials including ballot boxes. INEC personnel were also there.
The materials were reportedly hijacked with guns.
“I told them I go bring them (the materials), dem say I no fit, now we done carry them come,” a fiercely looking young man was heard boasting, apparently taking pleasure in leading the action of hijacking voting materials.

Yerima Shettima is the National youth president of apex Northern socio-cultural group: Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), and Chairman of Coalition of all Ethnic Nationality leaders in Nigeria. In this interview with Iniobong Iwok, he spoke about why the North is in its present state, restructuring of the country, the Buhari administration among others. Excerpts:

How do you assess the Buhari administration?

Expectations were high among Nigerians but, Buhari alone can not move the country forward. Yes he promised change, expectation was high, unfortunately, he can not move the country alone. Some of the ministers are inexperienced or incompetent; they do not know what governance is all about. Some of them are behaving like comedians. I’m not satisfied with this government and Nigerians are bitter about it, you can not remove all benefits and expect us to be happy. You asked people to tighten up while you are eating fat. Things are hard, you can not be flying around the world and the common man is suffering, if there is sacrifice, it should start from the leaders.

You gave Buhari your total support are you disappointed?

A lot of people that supported him are disappointed. Even the campaign slogan, the change mantra is abandoned. Most of the things the government said they would do they are not doing but behaving with impunity.

Would Arewa Support him or the APC if he decides to seek re-election in 2019?

Buhari is a Nigerian president, and not a northern president. If we run a regional system and he is a premier I would not attack him but advise him. On support him, we would look for alternative in 2019, we have been disappointed so far in his government. With the way things are going, they would say there is hope that we should be patient. But the way the things are, I would look for alternative.

Do you think the president has been fair to other regions in his appointment?

The president has not been fair to other regions. At the earlier time of his government, when he just started the appointment, but since the budget was passed you can see that things have balance up. We must commend him, even the ambassadorial appointment, how many people came from the north? Even the board appointment, you would see that after the budget, the southwest compared to the north have more than 40 percent; it favours the southwest than the north east where I came from, which has less that 13 percent. Earlier it was so, not now; and I raised alarm then.

Are you satisfied with the performance of INEC?

INEC has been full of confusion. Look at the Kogi election, I have become more confuse. I wonder where they get some language like: inconclusive. Inconclusive everywhere, and that is when they want to manoeuvre things. As we keep going round we would keep talking about INEC supposed to be an independent body. It is obvious INEC is being influence by the central. We have a system where the central government has so much power and the executive override some of their decisions.

Are you satisfied with the fight against corruption, especially the trial of Dasuki?

The office of the National Security Adviser is not an office of the PDP. Some of us have reservations on the style of the current anti-graft war, and we said it earlier. The president has no business in some of the things he his doing. What he has to do is to allow the institutions to do their work. What is happening in the case of Dasuki is that the president has already convicted him before the trial by saying in the media chat that: how can he release a man who stole over N400billion. When the person has not been convicted in court, even when the court had given order for his release while standing trial. It is unfair and the leader who says no he must defy the court order to me is not fair, because: what is happening now could happen to anybody.
He should fight corruption but respect the rule of law, he must not make the anti corruption fight personal, so that when he is not around, the institutions would continue to fight. We support his anti corruption fight but it should not be personal or be a vendetta.

Hmmmmm seriously if u ask me ooh, I think It's time president buhari puts his pride aside,embark on a 4days working visit to the Niger delta. He should get stakeholders including the former militants to a stakeholders meeting that will create a chart for a new course... Seriously if the president stays in Abuja and keeps forming IRON MAN hmmmmm I see a time coming when there will be no money to even buy fuel to power the generator in aso rock...

Let's agree the president has failed in the last one year, but should he start all over again? President buhari still have 3years to go and he can still achieve a little..

First, some ministers will have to go and let him get the best hands. The likes of Agaga, soludo, Ngozi and the former minister of Agriculture should be brought back. I don't see what Chris ngigi is bringing to the table, Ogbonnaya onu should go. fashola should let go some Ministries. I think the present minister of Niger delta should be removed and replaced with a minister that can locate dis boys in the Creek. Ibim should be confirmed as NDDC boss or give way for another chairman cos contracts are not coming forth from NDDC anymore do to the acting capacity of the MD....

All this president buhari can do in a week.... After that let him call for stakeholders meeting of the south East people, listen to them and act on there request... That is what a leader should do...

Minister of power, Mr Fashola told Nigerians, they needed to hike electricity price cos it will help the electricity companies provide better services and improve power supply. 4months after that hike, power supply has gone from bad to worst in my area.

The minister of petroleum has come now to ask Nigerians to be patient that fuel price will drop in 4months month.

So tell me my people, why should we believe this people?

There are strong indication that the PDP may replace Mr olisa metuh with FFK in the up coming convention. If you look out the list released by the PDP over the zoning of offices, you will see that the publicity secretary of the party was zone to the south West where FFK comes from. The idea was to make sure FFK gets the job. if you have noticed too, you will see FFK has been keeping his calm lately.

Do you think FFK we do a better than Mr Metuh as PDP spokesperson?
