All thanks to everyone for their contributions on the thread that very day. I was encouraged to stand by my sister. I was convinced never to allow my mum take such decision. All thanks to @keepingmum who sent me some money to complete her apprenticeship fees. I got a DM from @amdman asking for my phone number and house address to confirm my genuity through his lawyer. I gave them all they needed from me.

His lawyer and one other person came to my house last Sunday (19/2/2023) to see my little sister, my mum and her younger siblings. They met everyone of us in the house that very day

My mum was questioned concerning her decision to give her out in marriage. She made them understand it's never intentional nor her wish but situation of things in the family. She's not comfortable seeing these children suffering while she was still alive. She's scared what will become of them if paradventure she's gone. It was a friend who talk her into it considering the situation of things in the family. She was so emotional and started crying. She went back to memory lane (25th, May 2005) when the girl was birthed through CS and handed over to her by her brother. She cried that very day of visitation when the lawyer was talking to her.

The girl will be 18 by May and she wish to become a lawyer and future SAN. She hope to also run a large fashion store as a seamstress with lots of girls working for her, and all my mum could come up was to give her out in marriage to a divorcee. She thought giving her out in marriage will help reduce the burden in the family.

All thanks to @amdman who sent his lawyer to verify. After their visit, my mum began to retrace her steps. They promise to support her achieve her dreams. A good Samaritan sent us money for her to put in for JAMB

After the visitation, @amdman set up a WhatsApp group with some kind hearted individuals who had shown interest in supporting the little girl and her mother

Brother I totally understand your feelings, I was once in such situation year back. See what you will do. First on your own go to your church priest if you are a Catholic and narrate the issue to him, then tell him to invite your mum to have one on one talk in his office. Making her understand the implication of what her actions may result. 18yr she has not know the right from the left in life. Not to talk of marriage, to a 46yr divorcee. That was how I handled my own. And in turn the priest gave her scholarship to USA to do industrial chemistry.

I believe God will take control of everything. I'm glad she hasn't told the poor girl anything pertaining to that. She knows the girl may run out of the house, which obviously she's trying to avoid. I'm happy for your sister and i wish her all the very best🙏

It is what her own biological children had attempted several times. She wasn't talking on hear say or assumption. It is how the country is. We know how people get job in the FG when there wasn't any adverts or recruitment from the said agency. She may be old but she understands the system. I am not disputing the fact of making attempt and give it a shot though but she wasn't wrong from her own view. If she was in a saner climes she wouldn't have said that. I can still advice her to try NPA but NDA is a no go area. No point wasting the poor girl time

My mum MAJOR reason considering her for marriage was due to our low source of income. The responsibility outweighs the income. These children automatically become hers the moment she adopt them. Her own biological children are the ones supporting the day to day running of the house which obviously has taken a toll on us and the family. My mum is 61 years old and she's really scared and bothered of the future of these children. The girl has a dream to futher her education and own a big fashion outlet as a seamstress. Her dreams seems difficult considering the family she was unfortunate to found herself. My mum would only make a U-turn to the marriage proposals if this girl dream can be achieved and actualise now that she's still alive. She's scared what would become of them if she's gone. She felt giving her out in marriage would help to an extent lessen the burden and probably secure her future and also support her little ones

Her apprenticeship cost was 50k, excluding other items like drinks and whataview. We've paid 20k and brought drinks

It was a 2 and half year training and she has a year and half left.

She can sew and her boss asked us to get her a machine, even if it's manual.
