Good day,

Please what's the average time to get passport stamped in Lagos. For those that used Lagos
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by VonVictor: 2:55pm On May 05, 2022
Greetings house,
Please I'm about to apply for a study permit, it's a 2 years program.

For POF, I received funding of 25k/year. My tuition is 16k+living expenses+2k miscellaneous=28k. My father sent me 3mil or 9k cad. From this, I have paid tuition deposit of 5kcad and gotten receipt. What I plan to submit as proof of funds now is
1.Funding letter and supervisor support letter
2. My personal MBS
3. Letter of support from dad
4. Gift deed from dad
5. Dad ID
6. Gift deed for land from dad and land documents
7. Tuition deposit receipt.

For hometies, I used my parents and siblings and professional license. I am attaching their passports and our family pictures.
Please is there anything you feel would help strengthen my application and pof. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@technix @makano @lekiboboe @frankrobbn and anyone else who can say anything please

Good morning house.

Please I need advice. I am going to be funded 21,000 cad but my tuition+10k cad living expenses= 26,000 cad/year.

1. I don't have money and neither does my dad, I plan on having my uncle send him 3 million to complete the balance of the living expenses and he sends me a gift deed to explain the lump sum in my bank statement. But I don't show his own bank statement so they don't see he got a lumpsum himself. Would this be a problem or should I just have my uncle send to me and show his account statement and mine.

2. Since most of the money is from funding, would I still need to declare I'm being sponsored or say I'm self sponsored while my dad or uncle just gave that extra money to help.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated @ketima @frankrobbn @makano @technix and anyone else who has an input
Please can I get more inputs and views on this

Toceen2022:
The best option is to let your uncle send to your Dad, and your Dad send to you and do a gift deed. With a gift deed from your Dad you don't need to show his or your uncle's bank statement. Just your own bank statement with a gift deed from your Dad is enough.

Now, in your SOP under POF section, explain in a tabular form the total cost of your study and living expenses, remove the fund you got and state that it'll remain so so amount. Show that the remaining amount + miscellaneous is in your bank statement.

Tips - Don't just write it as a sentence, do it in a tabular form so that the officer will be able to see and caught his attention (it's very important)

- make sure the money that'll be in your account as gift deed, covers at least the 5k cad left + 3k extra

All the best
Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it

Don't agree on paying 35k. Report them on Twitter and copy the Minister of Interior.

I paid just 55k for my renewal and new passports for my wife and two children: this is four applicants. Everything cost 55k.

I did it myself online and went on the date scheduled for capturing. They weren't friendly with us at all. We managed to be humble for them to capture our details. Each month, they'll tell us stories that there weren't booklets, as I sensed that we may never get the passports until a year, I swung into action.

I tweeted publicly on their handle and copied the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. The same day, they got in contact with me soliciting I visit them the next day.

Lo and behold, we collected our four passports with preferential treatment the next day. They put us in an air conditioned room meant for VIPs. They started begging me to comment back on Twitter that they have done well.

Meanwhile, I didn't go with my children because I didn't want to put them through the suffering the officers put us through on the day of capturing. They said they'll not release my children passports because the children weren't there physically. I claimed I signed on their behalfs, and I emphasized I would not collect any passport unless I am given the whole four passports. I said I would not leave unless I have the four passports.

They started running helter-skelter, in the end, they called the state comptroller on the phone and she spoke with me begging me to go and bring the children. I said "no".

In the end, they gave me all the four passports and apologized.
I didn't pay 35k for the express service o...for everything. Like 25k was the passport fee and 10k to give me that same day... which honestly compared to everyother option was mind-blowing. Lovely service. Everyone running around to make sure you're comfortable. Couldn't believe I was in Nigeria

Where are you processing ur passport?? It's obvious u didn't go for express process. Pay some extra token and u will get it in 2 weeks. No booklet stories is for those that ve refused to do express.
I went all the way from Lagos to Taraba state to get passport done. I started the process 9am and got my passport 3pm same day. This was this week Monday. They charged 35k for express.

I would advise the same thing Teemenzo said.

And as for sponsorship, you will say 'Myself'

Be sure to get a letter from your department/prof mentioning your tuition and funding. Many departments issue a 'To Whom It May Concern' letter for visa application when one is funded.

In your LOE, please do the finance breakdown to show how you have covered the minimum fund required.

Best of luck!
Thank you sire.

Good day house.

Please I have a question. This is the scenario. I have a 21k funding out of which 16k is my tuition leaving me with 5k for living expenses. Now I don't have money, neither does my parents. My uncle on the other hand has money and would be willing to help. My question is
1. when stating how I will be sponsored, should I say myself/parents or say others.
2. would it be better my uncle sends like 3 million to my dad and then my dad sends the 3 million to me with a gift deed. But I don't show his account so they don't see the lumpsum deposit.
3. Would it be better I just use my uncle with his bank statement and he sends me the 3 million with a gift deed and other documents?

If you have a better solution please feel free to state it. @makano @ketima @technix I would also appreciate your kind inputs as well. Thank you.

Good day, all.

Quick question: Can my mum submit her SOA and act as a sponsor for my wife to cover her living expenses (as her mother-in-law)? She got a PhD offer.
Mum's POF= CAD$6,000
PhD funding= CAD$23,000
Tuition and fees=CAD$9,300
Living expenses from funding= 23,000–9,300= $13,700.

TIA.
She's good to go with only the funding. Your mum can send like 1 million to your wife's account and attach a gift deed. When choosing who'll sponsor her she should choose herself or funding if there's an option. Many people have gotten visa with funding without showing any bank statement. But just to be safe let her have small money. Also in SOP, make sure to explain the funding in details and how it covers what and what. Other gurus can input to this tho

Good day guys. I just started my application.
Realized there is a new portal. But it’s currently asking for my total tuition fee for the 2 years post graduate studies and the room and board.
Meanwhile the old portal wouldn’t ask you to show that you have the full tuition, except your part Payment fees. My full tuition is 36,240CAD,
The room on board is 24,000CAD then funds I available is 33,000CAD. Will this fly ? And who has used the new portal before and was faced with this same issue?
Please I need answers ASAP. Thanks
I was just about to ask the same thing. Please someone help us o. Those that have gotten ppr with new portal too

Bankowner:
You can apply for Personal Travel Allowance (PTA) of USD4,000 through your bank using the new electronic Form A. No bank will sell CAD to you except you're making a payment to your school in Canada and that will be done via wire transfer.

Exchange rate at the bank is very favorable so you need not go to the black market for FX. When you arrive Canada you can change your USD to CAD at Coins and Currency.

To purchase PTA, you need your visa stamped passport and flight return ticket.

Cheers and best wishes.
What of if I only have a one way ticket. How would I be able to go around that please?

Please quick question. My friend just got ppr today. Like I said earlier we didn't defer and she did fall semester and currently doing winter both online. Can she travel this month ending even if it's online or she should wait till its 28 days before the next semester which is late march or April?

PPR ooooooooooo!

I'm shaking
Ok first of all this isn't for me. I applied for my best friend, Bsc., Memorial university.

First application: March 3rd
Refusal: July 7th
From gcms notes, based on proof of funds and her mother's salary of about 170k was not commensurate with her salary and they couldn't see the account statement clearly (it was blurry because of low quality)

2nd application: 27th September
Upfront medicals and biometrics from previous application.

What we did different was she took IELTS for NSE, used mybankstatement. Her dad brought his account too (he didn't before) and she paid first semester tuition and started first semester online. We didn't defer. We believed.

Medicals wasn't updated and I felt they didn't see it and so I kept resending it through webform till it was updated to pass the following week.
Eligibility started December 7th
Ghost update January 14th or so
2nd ghost update January 31st

Over 600 emails to different offices(who begged me to stop) and 50 webforms. Only Abuja helped honestly.

PPR dropped February 7th
Abuja even sent a mail saying I have received an IMPORTANT LETTER from Nairobi. God is wonderful.

As for me, I have applied to university of Winnipeg for this fall for Msc. I got a supervisor with over 20k dollars in funding and I am just waiting for the official admission letter. I now have experience from processing my friends own and from this wonderful nairaland thread. Anyone who comes to me for advice I need only give them this thread link.

Thank you family. Canada will favour us

Other normal documenta.
Funding came with 16,500cad
Tuition waiver - I was going to pay only 4,500 cad

Refusal based on personal assets and financial status.
Omo...the funding covers your tuition na. You still have to show living expenses. Flight alone is 600k. Then quarantine will take some money.

You're going to get it next time. Just find a way of showing like 4 million naira from parents or a sponsor
