Politics / IGP Told To Dismantle Roadblocks In S/east Immediately by Voy(m): 12:18am On Feb 20, 2022
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has been urged to, without further delay, dismantle all police checkpoints in the southeast.

The human rights advocacy group made the call in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, and made available to DAILY POST on Saturday, noting the menace of illegal checkpoints by the police and their constant extortion of South-Easterners must be checked.

HURIWA lamented that the presence of allegedly corrupt police officers on extortion spree is responsible for the extrajudicial killings of drivers in many parts of Nigeria, in most cases when the drivers fail to part with as low as N100 bribe.

It recalled that lives were lost while many were injured in a horrific auto crash before Azia Junction, by the Ihiala–Onitsha Expressway, after a truck rammed into six vehicles at a police checkpoint before landing on a bus allegedly filled with passengers.

The human rights advocacy group noted that Friday’s accident was just one out of many, adding that the entire southeast is notorious for police checkpoints and extortions.

Recall that Justice Ike Ogu of an Anambra State High Court in January 2022 had ordered the state government and the police to remove all roadblocks in Anambra but the police are still operating roadblocks without any restraint.

HURIWA urged the IGP to follow the court order forthwith and disband the illegal checkpoints which serve no purpose but to hasten the death of innocent citizens.

HURIWA lamented that security agents who ought to maintain and enforce the law are flagrantly disobeying the judgement of a law court declaring the illegality of checkpoints and roadblocks in the southeast.

HURIWA said that it was very clear that the EndSARS national protest did not teach the police any lessons.

“The Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission must begin instant reforms to reposition the Force for better policing,” it added.

HURIWA said that the IGP must punish severely corrupt officers who lead drivers and, in most cases, passengers to their early graves while forcefully demanding money from them.

Politics / IPOB: We Won’t Force Non-igbo Tribes by Voy(m): 10:53pm On Jan 23, 2022
Daily Times Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said Biafra is optional for non-Igbo ethnic nationalities in the old Eastern region.

IPOB said it would not coerce other ethnic nationalities to be a part of Biafra.

Emma Powerful, spokesman of IPOB, however, said they must conduct a referendum.

Powerful explained that referendum would allow the people to decide their fate on Biafra agitation.

In a statement he signed, Powerful said: “Any tribe or ethnicity who doesn’t want to be part of Biafra will never be forced to do so. Such tribes are free to go on their own but you must conduct referendum for your people to decide their fate on the agitation for Biafra.”

He recalled that Igbos never fought other ethnic nationalities in the old Eastern region in the past because they believe in unity.

Powerful urged other tribes to fight for their freedom because they won’t be forced to join Biafra.

He added that tribes like Ijaw and others from the Mid-Western region would still be seen as “Igbo brothers and sisters.”

“We can attest that Igbo people never fought against any tribe in olden days because Igbo believe in (Onyeaghala Nwanne ya and, Ibiri Kamu biri) (live and let live).

“Igbo are not going to force anybody or tribe to join the fight for Biafra freedom. Let every tribe try what they can to wake up for their freedom because freedom is good and remains the best for all of us,” he added.

IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu has been in the forefront agitating for the actualization of Biafra.

Their agitation had led to the arrest and prosecution of Kanu by the Nigerian Government.

Kanu is facing charges bordering on terrorism and treason before Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court.

Last week, the IPOB leader had pleaded not guilty to all charges leveled against him.

Similarly, Kanu had floored the Nigerian Government at the Abia State High Court.

He instituted a suit against the Federal Government for violating his fundamental human rights, amongst others.

In a ruling, the court had ordered the Nigerian government to pay Kanu a one billion naira compensation.

That’s the said picture of Jesus, nobody ever seen Jesus; no man is worthy to hold Jesus
Religion / 500 Muslims Attend Christmas Church Service In Kaduna by Voy(m): 10:34pm On Dec 25, 2021
At least 500 Muslims have attended a christmas church service in Kaduna as part of efforts to promote peace and unity among the faithful of the two religions (Christianity and Islam).

While receiving the congregation in his church on Saturday, the General Overseer of the Christ Evangelical and Life lntervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna on Saturday, Pastor Yohanna Buru expressed satisfaction over the large number of Muslim in his church.

He said despite insecurity challenges bedevilling the country owing to the outbreak of Omicron variant of Covid-19 and high cost of transportation, hundreds of Muslim faithful including women, youths and childrens attended this year Christmas morning service in his church.

According to the pastor, this was a clear demonstration that what they have been preaching (religious tolerance) for years is gradually sinking in the hearts of the people.

He noted the visit of about 500 Muslims to his church would no doubt strengthened the good relationship, better understanding, love and religious tolerance among the followers of the two religions.

According to him, for the past ten years, he has been receiving Muslims in his church during Christmas church service, saying, this year the turn out was so impressive as about 500 Muslims are in attendance.

“Over 500 Muslim from Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, Katsina, Niger States and Abuja joined us at todays Christmas service to promote peace and unity.”

He added, ‘we have counted them one by one and got 525 Muslim that attended comprising of Tijjani, shiite and sunni sects.

“We must remember that we are created by one God, and we are the children of Adam and Eve, and we both have our holy scriptures (Bible and Qur’an)  from One God which guided us on how to live in peace and harmony with each other.”

Responding, one of the Muslim scholars, Sheikh  Ahmed Rufai said, this is not the first time of coming to celebrate Christmas with his friends in the church.

He said, every Muslim world wide respected Jesus Christ, and coming to the church to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ makes him happier.

Adding that during the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Saw), Pastor  Buru usually come to their mosques and celebrate the birth of the prophet with them.

He thanked the church for the free meal and other donations which the pastor shared to all the Muslim that attended the church service.

He noted that coming to church to celebrate Christmas does not make make him a Christian but rather the gesture will strengthened the christians and Muslim relationship for peace and unity among the different faiths.

Similarly, the District Head of Kurmin Mashi, in Kaduna, Alhaji Rabo Abdullahi, Kurmin Mashi Sabon Layi, said, he was happy to see the number of muslim youths and Imams that attended the Christmas service.

These people and the entire RCCG actually believed that Buhari had what it takes to lead Nigeria into a first world.

These people went to school. Many are professors. Some claimed to have direct access to God.

Some are gifted with "prophesies".

They read history. They understood international relations. They understood how societies work or so we thought.

They were more than 20 years old in 1983 when Buhari shot himself to power.

They saw Buhari murder innocent Nigerians in 1983.

They saw Buhari destroy the economy in 1983.

They saw the role Buhari played in Abacha's government.

They read all the threats of violence by Buhari against the nation.

They saw Buhari harass Lam Adesina the Oyo State Governor due to Fulani herdsmen conflicts with locals in Oyo State.

They saw Buhari lead the sharia protest that claimed the lives of innocent Nigerians in 2001.

They saw Buhari and his minions open the gate of hell on innocent Nigerians when he lost the presidential election in 2011.

If Buhari was not speaking and defending his Fulani heritage he would be fighting to defend his religious heritage.

Never for once did he defend Nigeria or gave interview on how to rebuild the economy, education, power, health, etc.

They saw everything this man did. They knew him too well to miss the little details of his violent life.

But they were united in hatred.

Hatred for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. One among the few Nigeria leaders that actually wanted Nigeria to work.

Hatred became a unifying force to push forward a false narrative.

They exploited his humility.

They exploited his kindness.

They exploited his humanity

They danced and made merry in Ojota. They ate, drank and danced away the destiny of a nation.

Saints Tinubu, Amaechi, Fashola etc led the chorus against ‘corrupt’ Goodluck Jonathan.

Tinubu a private jet owner and owner of Lagos, Amaechi a private jet owner and funder of Buhari campaign, Atiku a University owner paid with his civil service allowance etc wanted ‘corrupt’ Goodluck Jonathan out.

But the people did not see the moral paradox because you see - hate is a unifying factor.

They mobilised thugs to stone a sitting President.

They harassed his family wherever they went.

Because they are from the hated minority who must NOT be king.

For Kings must come from the Fulani lineage. Jonathan is Ijaw. Ijaws should not be Kings.

Jonathan must not loot also.

For looters must come from enablers of evil.

These are intellectuals.

Amongst whom are Pastors and Prophets.

Wisdom failed.

Prophesies failed.

WAEC issued a fake WAEC attestation to Buhari.

It is possible many Nigerian "intellectuals" are working with fake certificates.

A nation without conscience is a curse to its people.

We all are standing on the podium of history.

Humanity beckons.

Surely our children will read the roles we played in the salvation or annihilation of humanity.

- Ibrahim Tanko

Education / Sylvester Oromoni: Police Investigate 4 More Dowen College Students by Voy(m): 12:57pm On Dec 08, 2021

Police arrest 4 more students, suspects narrate same story

• More details are emerging in the controversial death of Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old Dowen College student allegedly murdered by fellow students

• Police authorities in Lagos say they have arrested four more students of the institution after getting a court order

• Interestingly, the students arrested and the ones previously brought in have been saying the same story according to police sources

Panti - The Lagos State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Bureau, SCIIB, on Tuesday, December 7 invited four more students of Dowen College for questioning over their involvement in the death of Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old student allegedly beaten to death by some senior students.

Vanguard newspaper reports that the police obtained a court order to detain the arrested suspects pending when investigations into the matter is concluded.

The suspects were taken to the command headquarters in Ikeja where they were interrogated by the commissioner of police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu after which, they were taken to Court 1, Yaba where the court order to detain them was granted.

With the court order, as the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be taken to the juvenile department for the next line of action.

Police sources also disclosed that the seven suspects shockingly made similar statements denying their culpability in the offence.

A source quoted in the report said:
“It was as if they were all lectured to make the same statement over the unfortunate incident. “This is because of the glaring similarity in their choice of words and denial which they stated in their statement. Infact, sources said that they were saying that the victim fell sick and the school authorities called the parents in Warri after which they sent one of their cousins to pick him in school. “Then, the cousin was said to have taken Sylvester to Ibadan only to call the school authorities a few days later to claim that his condition was deteriorating and was taking him to Warri where the parents reside

Salamatu Gbajabiamila’s Bottega Veneta bag
P.M. News tried to compute conservatively the cost of her outfit.

Conservative, because the cost of the gown beneath her Hobo coat or jackie was not added. Also not added was the cost of several rings on her hand.

Salamatu’s mini tubular handbag does not come cheap. Made of lambskin, It is sold for £1,995 by Italian luxury fashion house, Bottega Veneta

It has a single compartment, zip closure and nylon lining.

The Hobo coat is sold by Gucci for $4,800 or £2,970.

The Rolex wristwatch is available for between $11,000 to $25,000.

And Salamatu’s platform shoe, as pink as it is attracts a price tag of $3,500.

Altogether, the estimate for her outfit conservatively is N12, 078,550.

Here is how we arrived at the computation:

Handbag: £1,995 or $2,661= N1,463,550
Coat: $4,800= N2,640,000

Wristwatch: $11,000= N6,050,000

Shoe: $3,500= N1,925,000.

Exchange rate: N550= $1
