Look I don't know which school you went to. Oil Firms employ first class engineering graduates(Mostly in E.E, Chem.e ng and Mech.eng departments) in FUTO directly.
Please do not argue this.
I'm not against personal development or skills acquisition but don't discourage young fellas on indirectly saying education is irrelevant.

Our BGS had five different offers at a go.

Shell, Unilever,NB, sclumberger, Proctor and gamble, and Oando.

He chose schlumberger because they made the best offer.
The remaining 4 of us got nothing. And the difference was just 0.2,-0.3.

All First Class.

Excellence is still rewarded,but it needs to be very outstanding nowadays.

The only relevant thing on that list is consistency.
And consistency does not come out of thin air.

Infact as a First Class graduate myself , the three most important real factors are :

1) Move with the very best students in your class:
Every class has a First Class clique. They solve questions together that the rest of the class have no idea about, and most of those questions form the bulk of the exams.
They are usually very close to lecturers and get a lot of head start ahead of the class.
This helped me incalculably
A girl in my class graduated with 4.90 just by studying with us in every exam and test session.
She was pretty average, but performed excellently in exams by moving with the right clique.

2) Read like a mad man:.
To be accepted into the First Class clique in your class, you need to be a high flier yourself.
You need to prove your own merit to everybody to belong and when you are finally accepted into the clique, you just sail along on the waves of success and things become easier.

3) Pray like hell :
A point will come when you need God desperately.
Departments especially in federal universities are often fond of scaling down their First Class quota by any means possible.

You need prayers to avoid falling into that trap.

Ebuka, keep trying to impress mankind by being overly conscious of your dress sense. You are just an inch away from crossing into being a gay, that's if you are not already one. Fashion conscious men are often effeminate. I wonder why a man would be so concerned about his looks that he will be dragging mirror with women.

Men are supposed to be rough because we were designed to do rough work But these days all we see are men killing themselves over big name brands like Gucci and Fendi. I even find it funny how they pay up to 200k for a Gucci shirt which has the brand name written boldly on front of it. They don't know that it makes them look like a walking signboard. Imagine advertising for the company for free even after paying that much.

But looking good puts food on his table. It is not just a wasted venture.

That is his career.
It is much different from broke guys who spend time looking good without any good reason.
