 Crime / Magistrate Withdraws From Case On The Day Of Judgement by wakabobogirl: 6:13am On Jul 18, 2018 |
GIST FROM WAKABOBO A magistrate, Mr J.A, Akan, of the Ota Magistrates’ Court 2, has withdrawn from a case which he was supposed to pronounce judgement. The magistrate withdrew from the case on Monday on the grounds of not wanting to be biased in judgement after he had initiated a peace process between the two parties. The case was between the Al-Haqqul-Mubin Society of Nigeria and two members of the group, Lukman Olawale and Abdulwaheed Abubakri. Akan had reportedly initiated the peace process after the conclusion of trial and after he had adjourned for judgment. The two parties involved were allegedly unable to settle amicably. It was gathered that Olawale was a member of Al-Haqqul-Mubin Society of Nigeria. He was reportedly transferred to start a branch of the society in the Iju-Ota area of Ogun State in 2010 and the society was said to have provided all that was needed to set up the new branch. A new member of the society, Abubakri, also reportedly presented a land to the society for future expansion of the branch and had made a deed of transfer of the land to the society. Funds were also raised at the society’s headquarter to build structures on the land. Olawale was said to have resigned as the ‘missioner’ of the branch in 2016 and allegedly instigated Abubakri to chase away the new ‘missioner’ and the members of the society from the land. The duo had allegedly formed a new society and converted the property of Al-Haqqul-Mubin Society of Nigeria into their use. The case was first brought before the magistrate on March 26, 2018, and was adjourned for judgement on June 19, 2018, after the conclusion of trial. However, during the court sitting on Monday, the magistrate said, “I hereby withdraw from this case on the grounds of bias. Due to the fact that I initiated a peace process between the two parties and they were unable to settle amicably, I disqualify myself from pronouncing judgement. “The case would be sent back to the registrar to be reassigned to another court.” The Chairman, Board of Trustee, Al-Haqqul-Mubin Society of Nigeria society, Alhaji Mubeen Bello, however, told our correspondent on Tuesday that he had written a petition to the Chief Judge of Ogun State on the matter. An Alfa, Mustapha Hammed, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly raping a 29-year-old student of Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos. The police said the 23-year-old suspect told the victim that he saw a vision that she would die in 24 hours, unless the student took three spiritual baths. It was gathered that after the victim received the message, Hammed allegedly took the girl to Itowolo in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State for cleansing to avert the death. While addressing the press during a parade at the state police command on Monday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said the victim never knew Hammed had a clandestine plan, as he sexually assaulted her. He also said since Hammed allegedly raped the victim, she had remained traumatised. Imohimi said, “The Alfa deceived the victim that he saw in a vision that she was going to die within 24 hours. He took the girl to Ikorodu, Lagos, for cleansing so that she will not die. “At Ikorodu, he raped the girl, who was a virgin. “He thereafter wiped of her blood with a white handkerchief and since then, according to the victim’s father, the girl has been behaving abnormally because she was completely devastated and traumatised by the incident.” Hammed confessed that he deflowered the girl when he took her to Itowolo in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State to spiritually cleanse her. The Oyo State indigene said, “On April 7, 2018, I called the girl to come and meet me at my house. The girl is a friend to my girlfriend. When she came, I told her that I saw a vision that she has spiritual husband while I was praying and told her she needed to bath three times to solve the spiritual problem. “The girl agreed to follow me to my house in Ikorodu. When we got there, she bathed the first time, but before she had the second bath, I had put a frog inside the water. I threw the frog inside the water because I want to marry her but do not know how to tell her. “When she saw the frog, she ran out of the bathroom. I told her that it was a bad sign and she asked what to do. I then told her to call her boyfriend to meet her at my place. She told me that she could not call anybody and asked me to help her to do everything. She said she was still a virgin and told me to deflower her, so I did. But it was on that day that I realised that she was a virgin. Hammond also said the girl was fine when they got back from Ikorodu, adding that he was not responsible for her abnormal behaviours. He said, “When we came back to Bariga from Ikorodu, I saw her about two weeks ago and she was fine. I was arrested on Thursday, July 12, and they said I raped the girl and used her to do something; I did not use her to do anything.” The CP said the case had been transferred to the Gender Section Unit for further investigation, adding that the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation. GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM A kidnapper who allegedly abducted two two entertainers, Ugo Stevenson and Izunna Obiakor, in Owerri, Imo State and demanded millions of naira, has been arrested by the police.. It was revealed that the kidnappers who abducted Mr Izunna Obiakor (Event Promoter & Stage Manager) popularly known with company name Twinstar , Ugo Stevenson (Highlife Music legend known as Ndaa Chineke) and Bishop (Staff of Twinstar Lighthouse), were apprehended while trying to colleact another ransom. According to IfeanyiCy Njoku, the abducted victims were released five days after paying a ransom of N1.3m (one million three hundred thousand naira) which was made available by the family of Twinstar Izunna Obiakor. The abductors have been calling on Mr Obiakor to bring additional ransom of N300, 000 (three hundred thousand naira) so that they could release his car which was in their custody. Mr Obiakor accepted and went with his twin brother to drop the ransom with a special cover from Special Squad from SARS, Imo Police Command, Unlike the previous ransom the wife of Mr Obiakor dropped for the release of her husband. The kidnappers sent two of their men on motorcycle to pick up the ransom, moving and directing Mr Obiakor from one location to another and threatening him not to play smart. Immediately they called and drove pass Mr Obiakor to collect the ransom, men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Imo State Police Command appeared from their hideout and used their car to run after them. They successfully used the car to hit the motorcycle, and apprehend one of the Kidnappers, while the other who ran into the bush sustained bullet injury. One of the Kidnappers arrested with the phone they were using to call Twinstar Izunna Obiakor was identified as Sunday Okorie, and his cohort, Chima Osuoha was at large. Both lives at Amakohia Ubi, in Owerri West LGA. He has made useful information to the police that will help arrest others. The 21-year-old has now packed plans for a legal career to become a full-time Insta star. Her account GraceFitUK already has more than a million followers who lap up her fitness advice and lycra clad snaps. As well as dolling out keep fit tips she sells her own fitness products and endorses other brands with sponsored videos. Her Dad, Peter, runs a business consultancy and her mum, Victoria, is a senior curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Social media “influencers” earn money through partnerships with brands which pay them to advertise their products. They can make up to £100 a post if they have around 10,000 followers, while for those with a following of 100,000 can make £350 per post. Miss Beverley, who already posts around four sponsored videos a month, has 366,000 followers on YouTube and 837,000 on Instagram – meaning she could be raking in pots of cash a month. The Oxford music student is due to complete her degree at St Peter’s College next year, and had planned to take a law conversion course afterwards. But instead she has now decided to pursue her web career. She said: “I wanted to get fit for summer and didn’t expect it to continue. “I will never give the university a reason to think that they are not my top priority.“I’m extra-careful and extra-diligent and try extra hard in all my work. The lady who advised other women not to live their lives for men, disclosed that she fed, covered, built a house and even paid part of the bills for the man’s daughter’s wedding, only to be sent packing. We met 2001 in my working office, oloriebi @Muritala Adebayo jokingly joined us as friends. 2004 he came to me that he has problems with his wife and they were divorced, then I lived in my own rented apartment that he was always coming in from abroad to stay in without any help of payment. Even he himself av people he has told about how he married me without me been a demanding girlfriend, 2006 we did introduction, 2007 we got married in d registry at oluyole Ibadan, Witnesses are on ground and waiting for pickup period. He came in finally from UK 2009 ( his document can never be manipulated, trust UK) with jz 11 thousand naira while I was pregnant with our daughter and has never traveled back till as I write, though a UK citizen, (witnesses alive still and ready to be present). With a new movie, Lara and the Beats where she played the lead role and featured alongside top acts, the singer-turned-actor is ready to shatter the glass ceiling in the industry. In this chat, Seyi Shay speaks about the sacrifices she made to feature in the film and her relationship with Vector among others. Enjoy it. You are a musician but acted in Lara and the Beats, what does it feel like been an actress? There is a slight difference because I write my own music and I perform it. I tend not to act as much, but with a movie, you have to adopt a character. It is quite different since you have to immerse yourself in the character you invent. It’s kind of make-belief, at the same time, it’s still entertaining. What sacrifices did you make to be part of the movie? I had to leave my singing career for about a month, because the hours spent on the set were very long, so I couldn’t go to the studio and do my own shows. I lost some shows but I made a great movie. So, I am happy. Were you worried about the time you took off singing? I was a bit worried about spending so much time outside the music scene. I thought it would work against me but thankfully, it didn’t. This situation has added to my profile and personality. By the time the movie comes out, it would add to my popularity. It’s just nice to have another category added to my resume. Would you take on more movie roles? I had actually said that I won’t take up movie roles again, because it was so long and tiring. As a musician, the longest you do is six to eight hours to shoot a music video, but this took over a month to do. Half way through, I was like ‘oh my God, why did I do this?’ I wished I could turn back the hands of time. But at the end of the movie, I was thoroughly pleased with myself, watching snippets of myself on movie screen. So, would I do it again? Yes, with this production.
