President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed the appointment and re-appointment of some heads of parastatals.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary (General Services Office), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Friday in Abuja.

He appointed Mr Folashodun Shonubi as the Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria with effect from Oct. 17 for an initial period of five years.

Others are Mr Banire Adeyemi as Part-Time Chairman, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) with effect from Oct. 17 for an initial period of five years.

Mr Sule Bassi was appointed Secretary, Nigerian Diaspora Commission with effect from Oct. 19 for an initial period of four years.

Sen. Abba Ali and Mr Mohammed Sagir were appointed as Members (Non-Legal Practitioners), Federal Judicial Service Commission for an initial period of five years with effect from Oct. 24.

The President appointed Mr Kasali Yomi as the Director/CEO National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), Ilorin for initial term of four years with effect from Oct. 28.

Dangote 6th Most Charitable Person In the World. President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has been named the sixth most charitable person in the world by Richtopia, a digital periodical that covers business, economics, and financial news, based in the United Kingdom.

Aside from Dangote, the Chairman, United Bank for Africa Plc, Tony Elumelu, was 11th on the list, making him the second Nigerian on the list.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has dismissed reports that the federal government threatened to attack Isreal over the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu went into hiding on September 14, 2017, after a military raid on his father’s residence in Abia state.

The IPOB leader, who was being prosecuted for alleged treason, emerged in Israel on Friday, and later threatened to return to Nigeria with hell.

Reports had emerged on social media that Mohammed said Nigeria would launch an onslaught on Israel if they do not return Kanu to the country.

Speaking to State House correspondents on Wednesday, the minister noted that the report shows the dangers of fake news.

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo said on Tuesday that corruption remained the major challenge of Nigeria, saying the country was lucky to have President Muhammadu Buhari as the nation’s leader.

Osinbajo made the statement in Bauchi when he paid a courtesy visit on the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu.

“One of the things that have surprised me the most in government is that it is not that we do not have money.

“It is that most of the money that should be used on projects and the poor, is stolen; corruption is the major problem of this country,” he said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released photos showing properties allegedly owned by the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

The spokesman for the Commission, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, sent copies of the pictures to Kulichang.com on Wednesday.

According to him, the properties were uncovered while the anti-graft agency was investigating the allegations of corruption against the former governor.

He alleged that Mr. Fayose purchased the property with the money he purportedly received from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

The EFCC released the pictures a day after the former governor arrived at its head office in Abuja, in company with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and a former minister, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, among other well-wishers.

Troops 'Rescue' Five Women, Seven Children Abducted By Boko Haram

Comprising five women and seven children, they were "rescued" on Monday during a clearance operation in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The soldiers also "recovered" two locally-made Dane guns and a first-aid box.

A joint operation featuring the Nigerian Army, Civilian Joint Task Force, and some vigilantes have rescued 12 persons who were abducted by Boko Haram, the Army has said.

Two months after its release, Nicki Minaj’s fourth album has been certified platinum, according to the rapper.

Taking to Instagram, Nicki shared the big news with her Barbz. “#Queen becomes my 4th Platinum album in the US this week,” she wrote. “Thank you guys for your love & support. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project in any way. To God be the glory.”

A statement issued in London on Monday by Segun Adeyemi, Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described the killing as “dastardly, inhuman and ungodly”, saying nothing can justify the shedding of the blood of innocent people.

The Kebbi Governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, has approved the immediate payment of N500 million counterpart funds for Rural Access Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) and United States African Development Foundation (USADF) Programmes in the state.

The approval was contained in a statement signed by Gov. Bagudu’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Muazu Dakingari, in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

“The Rural Access Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) has more than N300 million while United States African Development Foundation has more than 500,000 US Dollars.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has declared that People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will dethrone the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government in 2019.

EFCC seizes N1.1 billion gold at Abuja airport

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized gold worth about $3,131,412.39 (about N1,127,308,460.39), being allegedly exported to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, illegally.

The precious metal was said to have been seized at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by a team of EFCC detectives led by a female officer.

According to a report, one Abba Ali Yahaya was identified as the brain behind the deal.

Abba also had on him €112,000 undeclared and no fewer than 19 Automated Teller Machine cards.

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Saturday said the State Government will fully support the setting up of a Lawn Tennis Academy in the State that would make the annual Lagos Open International Tennis Championship attract the global attention that it truly deserves.

Governor Ambode said this at the finals of the 2018 Lagos Open Championship held at the Lawn Tennis Club in Onikan, Lagos.

He said the State Government has held talks with the State’s Lawn Tennis Association to open up an academy with state-of-the-art facilities that would attract world-class players in future competitions.
