How many trees have been cut in your village since you were born? And how many have been replanted? Let's start from there.

I’m currently in the South East, and normally by late November we would have started feeling harmattan — cooler weather, dry air, dusty breeze, at least some signs.

But now, just a day to Christmas, everywhere is still hot. No harmattan breeze, no dryness, no dusty mornings. It honestly feels more like February or March than December.

This feels very unusual to me. In all my years on earth, I can’t remember a December like this.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing in their area?
Could this be climate change, or is this just one of those rare weather shifts?

This is very simple, tar the road and build drainages with walkway (no open gutter) then mandate the building owners to repaint. Unfortunately, black man have a fundamental problem which we have not addressed yet.

Don't go there. I have been to so many villages in Nigeria and no village in the North, South or West comes close to Igbo villages in terms of building mansion. Infact that Igbo man paying 3 bedroom flat rent in Lagos has a huge mansion in the village. It's like tradition to them.

My company was contracted to refurbish one of our clients house in the East for Christmas as the family members are coming home. We arranged the uplifting, repainting of the entire compound and industrial cleaning. One thing that amazed us is that there are five mansions in the massive compound. One was built by their late father and the rest his four sons all abroad.
Their eldest brother who supervised our work was very jovial and friendly with us. He told us that the civil war brought about the culture of building massive "empty" mansions in the village. According to him, most Igbo's built houses in the townships they lived without doing the same in the village. When the civil war broke out, they all relocated home and the few houses available were not enough to accommodate the massive population, this led to some family members sleeping in their cars and outside. After the war, they learnt a lesson, and this led to the massive unoccupied mansions in Igbo villages.
Next time before you criticize a people for what they do, ask questions. I used to be a critic of building massive unoccupied mansions but the Anambra mans story taught me what I never knew.

In Ivory coast, they don't have blackouts...since 1990, not because they have better government (the instability in Ivory coast since 1990 is worse than the benign peace of Houphouet -Boigny before he died.)...but because they decided to implement cost reflective tarrifs. This allowed investment into the sector to flow in, heck the World Bank even gave them a loan self...and there have been no blackouts for decades. Only folk who were born before 1985 recall blackouts. Again Ivory coast has AND still has corruption, tribalism(even xenophobia!), a civil war, and a millitary and civillian coup, and another sit tight leader called Ouattara...yet power is stable there compared to nigeria, because cost reflective tarrifs.

Whereas we in nigeria will blame every leader, blame corruption, blame this , blame that...but then bypass our meter, or underpay for power used, and then expect power to come on for 24 hours a day, seven days a week...on what money? Imaginary money? And of course no investment. Even the discos...three of them were handed over to the banks, and they are cutting jobs to survive because people don';t want to pay cost reflective tarrifs.

For clear emphasis, minimum wage can get you three bags of rice then with change still remaining to buy other things. The poorest of the poor can easily have access to food.
But the story have changed now. Women being unable to handle difficult times openly embraced hook up culture seen as a taboo in recent past.
I read a book about thousands of French, Polish and even Jewish ladies that embraced and became foster wives to invading Nazi soldiers that killed their fathers and brothers just to survive.
What I'm saying is that Nigerian men became poorer and powerless and the ladies adopted sleeping with multiple men and other bitchy behaviors just to survive. This led to marriage collapse.

Stop all this talk of wedding going on. I am in the event management industry and I can tell you for free that weddings have dropped over 50% since 2015. Infact this December season used to be everyday wedding, sometimes we manage 10 weddings in a single day, today getting a wedding event is scarce. Just one wedding per Saturday and you are jubilating. Do you know we have millions of unmarried ladies out there?
