PoliticsRe: Rivers, Kano, Abia… 27 States Attracted Zero Foreign Investments In 2022 by walata22: 3:26am On Apr 06, 2023
Nigeria is poor because the sum total of her individual constituents ,people, families, local governments and states are poor, and not very productive.
The poverty reduction model should target capacity building at the individual level ,local industries and at all local governments based on the principles of comparative advantage, meritocracy, pragmatism and honesty.
Once local industries become effective, automatically foreign investors are likely to come

PropertiesRe: How Did You Fund Building Of Your First Duplex & How Long Did It Take? by walata22: 12:18pm On Mar 10, 2023
Winters23:
Again I will say it one more time!

The obsession to "build" house and be called landlord or home owner is one of the major reasons many Nigerians are stagnant in life.

You toil for 10yrs and finally make your first 10 to 100million naira and the first thing that tops your agenda is to start building a house. Then you Bury all the money in the ground reverting to square 1.

That money is supposed to be your capital, you're supposed to put it back to wherever you got it from for profit or you can reinvest it somewhere else.

Then when your profit grows big you can upgrade your cars and maybe start building a house.

I currently own duplexes across 3 states mostly in Lagos and my home state, I didn't achieve that with my first breakthrough, I did it after lots of reinvestment.

If you want to go far in life, follow this simple logic, don't let the standards set by society control your money.
Money can be lost in business. I don't think it's a bad idea to diversify into property early depending on ones circumstances. It might serve as a backup incase the business runs into problems

PoliticsNigeria"s Prroblems Are Mainly From The Local Government And State Politicians by walata22(op): 3:53am On Jun 15, 2022
We need to focus more on electing good candidates at the local government and especially state level. They are our major headache compared to the presidency.Whoever becomes president will not come and settle in a state or local government to fix its problems. The president cannot know the local problems ,directly create revenue, build local government or state infrastructures, roads , dispensaries, schools ,pay salaries , pensions and gratuities.
The state governments need to allow local governments to work.
Let us focus more at electing visionary local ,state then federal representatives in that order.
PoliticsRe: Oil Discovery In Bauchi, Gombe Will Cut Niger-Delta Political Power - Buhari by walata22: 5:10pm On Dec 25, 2021
The greatest resource is the human resource and not crude oil or whatever minerals. We keep neglecting development of human beings . Crude oil without development of the people is nothing, whereas a developed people do not need to have crude oil

Islie:
I’m happy oil discovery in Bauchi, Gombe will cut Niger-Delta political power: Buhari

“…but we thank God that oil is now discovered in Bauchi and Gombe and that will help to balance the politics of oil in the country,” Mr Buhari said.

PoliticsRe: "We Will Not Abandon Our Promises:" Buhari's 2021 Christmas Message by walata22: 6:37pm On Dec 24, 2021
HonNL:
Remember that a lot of the Political Class[Governors , local Government Chairmen, Honorables , senators etc] , the elite of the country and Senior Civil Servants in charge of various agencies that manage Nigeria are not doing well.
It takes more than a president to damage a country. Citizens need to be more active in participating in Government and stop electing people who are not likely to improve the country. We should avoid nepotism, ethnic and religious sentiments

That's the way to go. Any herder , Fulani or otherwise stands to gain immensely from ranching. Also it will reduce the damage and suffering done to their children and families, increase their education, living standards etc. The cows will still be sold so they will still make profit.
The owners of the cattle that the Fulani herd are a big power group. They need to encourage ranching. It is possible that it is some of these owners that do not want to invest and pay the herder his proper dues.
PoliticsRe: If You Were The President Of Nigeria, How Would You Make Nigeria Better? by walata22: 12:31pm On Jun 13, 2020
chatinent:
Rather than lampooning every president who is inaugurated, if you were the president of the federation, how'd you make the country what you castigate against?

Let's discuss.
Copy and follow the blue print of the Asian Tigers. Invest heavily and restructure the Educational system to make it more practical and productive. Employ only the best in critical areas and give them the relative freedom to work together and harmonise their activities.
Produce demand and buy locally made goods . Eg give interest free loans for housing , garment makers etc ensuring that individuals who obtain these loans purchase only made in Nigeria goods .
Revamp the Judiciary and employ/ retrain /encourage security personnel to ensure Justice
Ensure at least 95% National health insurance coverage , ensuring that local pharmacies ,/industries produce for local demands within 5 years
Leadership by example . The citizens must see that leadership is pro development. No foreign trips abroad for health care.
Privatise (avoiding monopoly) as much as possible.
Give more power to local Governments , ensuring a well structured program of information dissemination from Federal to state and local Governments.
Reach the working class through their trade unions to know how to develop them .
Plant 100 million preferably economic trees within 5 years and stop tree felling for firewood
Restructure and harmonise the procurement system tying making it cheaper!, efficient , and promoting local industries... Eg all Federal, state and local Government vehicles be produced locally by innoson and others who will give government a discount...and backwardly integration
PoliticsImpeach The Head Of Government by walata22(op): 6:03am On Jan 07, 2012
under a democracy , if the people are not satisfied with their leadership , they may call or persuade their elected leader's to impeach the head of Government if they think he is not fit to rule or is threatening their existence , or impoverising them , or if he asks them to sacrifice without them seeing what or how he himself is sacrificing
