DYNAMISM OR SURVIVAL STRATEGY:PROFILE OF EX-BANK CEOs TWO YEARS AFTER CBN’S TENURE REGULATORY POLICY

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going so goes the popular quote. For some people a challenge only works to bring out the best that is yet to be seen in them. And just like the tea bag dipped into a cup of hot water, their juice flow for the world to see and behold and taste. That most probably describes the lives of the former Chief Executive Officers of 3 of Nigeria top banks.

Okay I know I'd be getting some knocks and comments with this headline. Nairaland / General / Tips And Tricks To Securing Your Online Domain by waleameen: 4:13pm On Oct 15, 2012
Generally people have been noted to be relaxed when it comes to security issues especially as internet users. Also some professionals who we’ll refer to as ‘techkies’ also take security for granted once in a while and have had to pay severally for that mistake. ON GOING CONCERN: N5000 NOTE TO BE RESERVED FOR BANKS AND HEAVY CASH USERS

With the public outcry against the introduction of the higher denomination of N5000 note into the economy by the CBN, the Federal government has given some clarification on the contentious issue. According to the National Planning Minister Shamsudeen Usman “The N5000 note unlike some people misrepresent, is not going to lead to higher inflation. There is absolutely no link between inflation and the currency denomination….”

When you hear the word BUSINESS, what is the first thing that pops into your head? Why do people especially young people find it difficult to go into business? It might surprise you to know that the major reason is not lack of capital….it’s the fear of taking the plunge…no one wants to take risks!!!

Business / Richard Branson:if I Could Do It All Over Again, I’d Do It All Over Again by waleameen: 4:01pm On Aug 24, 2012
One of my favorite sayings is ‘Ninety per cent of life is just showing up’ , because the courage to pursue your vision and start a new business often hinges on just that first step. Once you’ve spotted an opportunity in a given sector, having the confidence to follow your dream and raise that first crucial bit of financing is often the hardest problem facing a budding entrepreneur. The following two mailbag questions reminded me of how I established some of my first businesses, and how I’d begin again if I had the chance.

Nairaland / General / Nigerian Telecom Sector Report (june 2012) by waleameen: 2:32pm On Aug 24, 2012
Data is king and numbers don’t lie. However, any researcher or data lover will tell you how hard it is to happen upon some much-needed data in Nigeria. I’ve often had to use multiple primary sources to get data, that should already exist, for reports and research work around the Nigerian technology space. This explains why, for example, the number of Internet users in Nigeria is still a subject of debate. According to Wikipedia (quoting the International Telecommunications Union), there are now 47,143,356 Internet users in Nigeria. Many industry experts disagree, and the fact that there’s no trusted local source where such data can be verified doesn’t help.....

Business / The Beginner’s Guide To Linkedin by waleameen: 9:47pm On Aug 18, 2012
LinkedIn is considered the non-sexy, sleeping giant of social networks. It keeps a low profile, perhaps due to the professional nature of its users. Nonetheless, LinkedIn continues to exert a powerful influence on connected job seekers, brands, recruiters and industries.

Founded by Reid Hoffman in 2002, LinkedIn has grown to 161 million members in over 200 countries, making it the world’s largest professional network on the Internet (by comparison, Twitter has 500 million registered users, and Facebook has 900 million. Currently available in 17 languages, LinkedIn remains a relevant platform the world over.

That being said, we doubt you spend 20 minutes on LinkedIn per day, like Facebook’s power users do. So, if you need a crash course on what LinkedIn has to offer, browse the network’s most prominent features below. Or send this to your recent grad as he or she prepares to enter today’s daunting job market.

Have you used LinkedIn to find a job, network with professionals or research hot topics in your industry? Please share your own tips in the comments below.
