Pls I want to know how much is the return flight ticket from Nigeria to India and the airline most preferable.Thanks. |
Is it not funny that the management of the School of Management Technology is planning to increase school fee of the M.Tech. programme in Project Management Technology which is a full time academic programme from N96,500 to N250K when they have already paid the normal school fees? The school fees for all M.Tech. courses in FUTA is N96,500 but the the HOD of PMT in its induction speech for new students informed them of a plan to increase school fees to N250K when other M.Tech. courses in the same institution have not increased theirs. This is quite unfortunate for a federal institution and it is a rip-off.The students thought they applied for an academic Master programme and not an Executive Master programme. Why should we begin to create problem for ourselves when the students had to pay even the current fees through their noses.I want to ask:Is this programme designed for the super-rich students.I think this is unfair and it will be illegal to compel students to pay an amount that was not stated at the point of application, admission and registration process.Apart from this, the HOD also told the students they would pay N10K to the dept and another N15K to the faculty. One begins to wonder what these monies are meant for in a normal full time academic M.Tech. programme.A survey carried out in FUTA indicates that all these illegal fees are not paid by other M.Tech. students. Please, the VC, Prof. Biyi Daramola,a disciplined academic, should sustain the sanctity of FUTA degrees and cancel all these unwarranted fees charged by the department of Project Mgt Tech from its Master degree students. |
Nothing stops them unless they are planning magomago. There has been silence from them up till now. |
In the spirit of transparency,NIMC should send the results of the recently concluded tests to candidates. We all know it is a computer based apt test and it does not take time to mark. They should also determine the cut-off mark for each post for the interview.NRlanders, what do you think? |
I think the result should have been out by now if NIMC is not planning sth evil.Release the result and cut off point for each post in every state and local govt and also at the head office.Let there be transparency! |
In Ondo State, do you know that people have started voting before the announcement? Even the state REC was not aware as he was busy monitoring the voting exercise not knowing the election has been shifted to Monday by Jega. Quite unfortunate. |
Please nairalanders.Should we forgive Attahiru Jega for failing to understand that "result sheets" which is an essential component of the electoral process have not arrived the country until the election day? I actually find this appalling and laughable. |
@Pennywise -Why did Ribadu flee Nigeria? Why didn't he declare his asset? Why is he afraid of prosecution if indeed he is transparent? Let us be objective and throw away sentiments. |
OAM4J:Ribadu does not understand the intrigues in politics. You can never be rigid in politics. He may be honest but "policing" is not equal to good governance. Pennywise:Nuhu should not be considered at this time. Politics is not only honesty and transparency but selfless service to the nation which encompasses all good attributes. |
It is still sketchy but current events dictate that the new vice-president is likely to come from the north-central and probably one of the governors might be picked. Sule Lamido of Jigawa State is being widely speculated from a reliable source in the presidency. North-Central is preferred because Yar'adua is from that zone. Obasanjo is playing a pivotal role on this selection. |
A crisis is brewing now in Aso Rock over who should be sworn in as Vice-President with Jonathan. This is stalling the whole inauguration process this morning. |
Somebody just called me now that Governor Bukola Saraki is warming up. |
Nairalanders,it is no longer news that Jonathan is automatically our president. Who do you think will become his deputy? Is there any rule that guides the selection of the vice-president under the constitution in this circumstance? Let us make it very educative. |
Sanusi Lamido (CBN Governor), resign now. Your time is up! |
Lamido Sanusi- CBN Governor- Your time is up! Nobody is there now to cover your ass for throwing thousands of Nigerians into unemployment market under the guise of your useless reform. PLS, JUST RESIGN NOW. |
May His soul rest in peace. He contributed his quota towards the overall development of his fatherland though his health hampered to a large extent this zeal that he has. The political situation of Nigeria has finally changed as we approach next year. I will be missing u,Yar'Adua. |
The end of the cabal. What a tragic end! |
ReachRich:Happy birthday, Richie. |
Report just reaching me from Channels TV confirms this. |
Obasanjo is busy strategising on the next political step to tilt Nigeria towards the right path after originating this problem. |
Springbank is coming up with a new performance assessment called SELF SUSTAINING MODEL (SSM) which when implemented by March will zerorise most staffs' salaries i.e. u may get no salary but if u are lucky 25%,50% or 80%. Bankers are advised to look for new jobs. |
http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/36229/1/Between-Turai-and-Patience-who-is-now-first-lady/Page1.html By Joke Kujenya For the first time in Nigeria’s history, we have an acting first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan. What does it mean to act as first lady? Certainly, she wouldn’t be acting as Jonathan’s wife. Would she? Before her new status as the ‘lady of the house’ in Aso Rock, she was simply the wife of the Vice President until Tuesday, February 9, 2010, when ‘levels’ changed. The substantive First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua had dwarfed Dame Patience, who might have learnt a thing or two in her days as the underdog. Now that she has a chance to play the role, it would be interesting to see how she would stamp her personality on the office. Historically, Dame Patience is not the first woman to act as a first lady. Lady Mary Arthur McElroy of Greenwich, New York, was the first on record when her elder brother, Chester A. Arthur, was elected vice-president of the United States of America (USA), in 1880. At that time, Chester had no idea that he was soon to be president. But in 1881, James Garfield, the then American President, was assassinated, thrusting Arthur into the top spot. Coincidentally, Ellen Lewis Herndon Arthur, Chester’s wife, had died of pneumonia over a year earlier. And because Chester was still in mourning for his wife at the time he became President, he was left without a ‘lady of the White House’, so he called on his younger sister, Mary, to help out. Mary, it was reported, accepted the assignment bravely although she admitted that she had no idea of the procedures or formalities that went along with the job. Another woman that had occupied such a position was Jacqueline Aquino Siapno-De Araojo, 42, a Filipino-turned East Timorese. She acted as the first lady of East Timor. She assumed the role because the East Timorese President Jose Ramos-Horta was single. Thus, Siapno, whose husband was the president of the National Parliament, the second most powerful man in the country, became the acting first lady. Unlike these two women whose emergence had no challengers, ‘Wahala dey’ is the offing for Dame Patience as Turai’s image still looms large. The fact is President Yar’Adua has not been pronounced dead. But he is seriously ill and he is said to be on life support machine in a Saudi hospital. Now, that raises some challenge for Dame Patience. For how long will she reign? What will happen if Yar’Adua suddenly ‘resurrects’ and re-emerges on the scene with Turai, who must be missing power? Now that the beam is on Dame Patience, who incidentally hails from Nigeria’s restive Niger Delta, it would be interesting to see how much of ‘woman power’ she will now wield in the presidency or if she will tread ‘softly, softly’. Besides, she would likely face greater pressure than she was used to. The public will inevitably compare her with Turai as she plays the role of acting first lady. Will she also come up with her own pet project now that she would be more visible politically? Her leadership qualities will be put to test more than ever before. Dame Patience -fair complexioned, roundish, a no-nonsense personality and a trained teacher raised by devoted Anglican parents -is described as a woman that comports herself with a high sense of preservation instinct. Also, she reportedly cares much for her children’s moral conduct by closely monitoring them. Those in contact with her say she is a soft-natured, caring, kind and good woman. By the way, this isn’t the first time Dame Patience would be an acting first lady. Before the Jonathans came to power at the centre, she had unexpectedly played such a role in oil-rich Bayelsa State when her husband acted for the then beleaguered Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who eventually lost out in the power play, thereby thrusting the woman on the stage as substantive first lady. Interestingly, the wife of the then governor, Mrs. Alamieyeseigha, had little education and so was regarded as a first lady in absentia. Indeed, the locals were used to calling Dame Patience the ‘first lady’ even while her husband was still the deputy governor. Effectively, she acted the ‘drama’ till her husband became the Vice President and now, Acting President. There is a mouldy side, though. On September 11, 2006, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seized $13.5 million from Dame Patience Jonathan, at the time she was the wife of then Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan. In the reports of The International Herald Tribune, then EFCC spokesman, Mr. Osita Nwajah, reported that the seizure was made after Dame Patience had allegedly laundered the money through an associate. She had allegedly laundered the money through a remote relation, Nancy Ebere Nwosu, a successful businesswoman of remarkable means who had lived abroad for several years. The incident was reportedly the second time in one month that Dame Patience was hitting the scandal headlines. Earlier in August of the same year, the EFCC had obtained a court order to temporarily freeze N104 million she had allegedly tried to launder through the same Mrs. Nancy Ebere Nwosu. The EFCC said it had reason to believe that the seized funds belonged to the public. In a sworn statement, Mrs. Nwosu implicated Patience Jonathan, the EFCC said. In her defense, her husband rose to quash the allegations, claiming that the reports were part of a ‘plot to destabilise’ the state. Now that she is on a higher stage, she would need to demonstrate high morality and avoid acts that might attract embarrassment as she had projected herself many times as a symbol of motherhood and a role model to many Nigerian women. Her people dub her a true daughter of the Okrikans from Rivers State who is married to a Bayelsan. Dame Patience reportedly speaks a number of Nigerian languages and is familiar with many parts of country. She actually exhibited her deep familiarity of the Nigerian lingo at a tourism function. She has gone to stand-in for Turai at a tourism function one time. At the event, Dame Patience hinted about her once-upon-a-time jaunts to both Kebbi and Sokoto States. Then, as she greeted the people in their respective tongues, shrieks of joys, frills and thrills greeted her remarks. Catching in on the moment, Dame Patience displayed her acquaintance with the people and places of Nigeria when she also spoke about the significance of the festivals as viable platforms for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians as a whole. As the then number two woman, Dame Patience was said to have had a high regard for Hajia Turai Yar’Adua and maintained a warm relationship with the now obscure First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. But how much of that remains? |
Since Aondoakaa is known to be popular wherever he finds himself, he is expected to use his legal gown to prevent putrid odour from coming out of Aso rock toilets. In that case, he can start defending houseflies why they always cause crisis whenever they see shit. |
Ondo State indigenes in Nairaland congratulate Chief Kayode Tokunbo SAN on his assumption of office as the AGF. Prove that we can do it better and remember the son of whom you are. |
Aondoakaa was still defending his actions this evening when interviewed by journalists. He was full of pride, Shameless soul that has just been demoted. He has dented his political career 4 ever. Thank God Akunyili was the one that announced his redeployment to the infamous Special Duties Ministry where he will remain useless. |
Fellow Nigerians, I will wipe away your tears and make Nigeria a Utopia. |
He will make some reforms I believe. |
http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=166165 These Are Unusual Circumstances’ 02.10.2010 Full text of last night’s address by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan Fellow Nigerians, As we all know, our dear President, His Excellency, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, has been receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia for some time now. Naturally, his absence from the country has generated considerable interest and a heated national debate. Today, the National Assembly passed a resolution mandating me to act as President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In following the extant provisions of the 1999 constitution to arrive at this decision, the leadership and members of the National Assembly have shown great courage, statesmanship and patriotism. I salute them all. In the same vein, I will like to commend all the other political actors and national leaders, particularly the former Heads of State, Elder Statesmen, Governors of the 36 States and other leaders of political groups, civil society organizations, the media, and indeed all Nigerians, for their invaluable contributions and counsel. Our security services also deserve our special commendation for their loyalty and devotion to duty during this trying period. The circumstances in which I find myself assuming office today as Acting President of our country are uncommon, sober and reflective. More than ever therefore, I urge all Nigerians as a people of faith in God, to pray fervently for the full recovery of our dear President and his early return. The events of the recent past have put to the test, our collective resolve as a democratic nation. I am delighted to note that our nation has demonstrated resilience and unity of purpose. Today affords us time to reconnect with ourselves and overcome any suspicions, hurts and doubts, which had occurred. In all these, there are no winners and no losers, because by the Grace of God we have once again succeeded in moving our country forward. We have all shown that our unity as a people, our love for this country, and our hope for its great future cannot be shaken. It is now time for us to move on in a more determined manner to tackle the various challenges which we face as a nation. Our march towards Vision 20-2020 is irreversible. Therefore, we see a need to prioritise on a few of the most critical areas which continue to plague our effort at engendering meaningful economic growth and development. Some of these critical sectors include power, infrastructure, security, generation of employment and business opportunities for our teeming young men and women. Fellow Nigerians, the Federal Government will take every step necessary to consolidate the gains of Amnesty in the Niger Delta and execute the post-Amnesty programme. I therefore appeal to all concerned to be patient, as there can be no meaningful development without peace and security. As regards the Jos crisis, government will endeavour to sustain the peace and find a lasting solution to the recurring crisis in Plateau State . In the meantime, culprits of the heinous crimes committed in the recent incident will face the full weight of the law. I want to restate that government will not tolerate the culture of impunity that is fast becoming an unwelcome part of our socio-political life. Our commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property in all parts of the country will also be pursued with renewed zeal. The Nigeria Police and other security services would be given new impetus to perform their duties, even while respecting the human rights of Nigerians. They are fully expected to produce corresponding results. There shall be no excuses for failure. Nigerians deserve to be fully protected at all times nationwide. Fellow Nigerians, one of the cardinal commitments of this administration is our commitment to Good Governance, Accountability and Transparency. We shall continue to pursue these policy objectives with all the seriousness they deserve. In particular, the war against corruption will be prosecuted more robustly. We will therefore strengthen the capacity of the anti-corruption agencies and give them a free hand to prosecute the anti corruption war. Let me once again commend the people of Anambra State , for the successful conduct of the recent gubernatorial election. This has shown that Nigerians can conduct free, fair and credible elections. The Anambra Election has however exposed some weaknesses in our electoral system, and government is determined to plug these loop holes as we approach the next General Elections in 2011. I want to reassure all Nigerians and our friends around the world, that our determination to ensure that the sanctity of the electoral rights of our people shall not be compromised. Let me on behalf of the Nigerian people appreciate the international community for their goodwill and understanding in our efforts at national development and consolidation of our democracy. Nigeria will continue to play a deserving role in regional and global affairs. On a personal note, I am deeply humbled and honoured by this great call to duty. I am fully aware of the responsibilities reposed in me, and I want to reassure all Nigerians that this is a sacred trust, which I shall discharge to my fullest abilities. Thank you and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
Acting President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday accepted his temporary elevation, assuring Nigerians that he will not betray their trust. He noted that it is now time for all to move on in a more determined manner to tackle the challenges which we face as a nation. While noting that the march towards Vision 20-2020 is irreversible, the acting president also spoke on the critical that must be tackled for the nation to realise its dreams. The areas he wants attention on include power, infrastructure, security, employment and business. The acting president who also assured that every step necessary shall be taken to consolidate on the gains of Amnesty in the Niger Delta and execute the post-Amnesty programme, also urged Nigerians to be patient, as there can be no meaningful development without peace and security. Maybe the South-South will use this opportunity to prove thatlso they have the ability to govern Nigeria very well. Also, prove dat it is not all about resource control but the administration of a large entity called Nigeria. |
