I agree that LG administrations and Traditional leaders in these areas have not done enough to ensure that these issues are addressed. We'll simply have to deal with the consequences of years of mismanagement in every aspect . Hopefully the administration will be able to steer us towards some modicum of stability, especi in security and economi sectors. May God deliver Nigeria

Activism, Political activism is acceptable worldwide. I believe bin freedom of speech and democracy that we practice. Any government in power is born to be criticized and must stand it...how about just doing something civic and right for the people regardless of the political difference
PoliticsRe: Covid-19 Lock-down: The Inveterate Inconsistencies Of The Nigerian Opposition by ward90: 2:03pm On May 08, 2020
Why will everything be politics in Nigeria, are we thinking about the economy? haven't we seen how the previous pandemics crippled so many countries economy, some didn't recover tl after 10yrs..What could possibly justify not easing the lockdown?? Do we have philanthropists and local NGOs that offer help with no political agenda?? Are we a tax abiding country??do we have a strong economy like the G8 countries? No. Impose use of facemasks in the public and social distancing #EaseTheLockdown
PoliticsRe: A Justification For Easing The Lockdown by ward90: 1:42pm On May 08, 2020
Easing lockdown restrictions doesn’t mean everyone can go back to the pub or go on holiday and do whatever they want you ...it is for protective economy measures. We dont want to have another her great depression anyway
PoliticsRe: Stop The Drama Easing Lockdown Is The Right Decision For Nigerians by ward90: 1:26pm On May 08, 2020
Hkatago:
As mixed reactions continue to trail the decision of the federal government to ease lockdown measures against COVID-19 pandemic, it has become imperative to point out a few concerns thus reminding the good people of Nigeria that any decision taken by government is both to protect lives and also preserve livelihoods. In particular, the ongoing decision which was carefully and meticulously reviewed with the best intentions to ease the suffering of Nigerians puts the government alive to its responsibilities. The FG has made it clear and have addressed if not all aspects surrounding the lockdown lifting in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states, which it stressed will be phased, thereby leaving no room for ambiguity yet some Nigerians and groups opt to make pronouncements implicating the government.

A particular case is that of the broadcast made by the Spokesman of The Nigerian opposition coalition under the umbrella of "Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on May 3, Mr Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, wherein some phony claims and accusations where made against the government. The spokesperson, while calling on the government to rescind its decision said relaxing the lockdown in the affected areas would translate to exposing the members of the public to danger and abandoning them to their fates more so that health workers were already raising the alarm over lack of adequate medical equipment including a shortage of bed spaces and isolation centers to manage the cases at hand.

Mr Ugochinyere on behalf of CUPP said Nigeria is one of the countries with the least testing capabilities, this claim may not be true because as of April, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) accredited 15 laboratories across the country with an aggregate capacity to undertake 2,500 tests per day across the country. Several new fully equipped treatment and isolation centers have been operational across the country thereby increasing bed capacity to about three thousand.

The Government has also explained they are reviewing laboratory testing strategy to further increase the number of tests that can be performed including the accreditation of selected private laboratories that meet the accreditation criteria.

Based on federal government's recommendation State Governors activated State-level Emergency Operation Centre’s, established new treatment centres and ensured the delivery of aggressive risk communication strategies.

The group in their response also raised alarm of looming total outbreak of the deadly pandemic in the country based on emerging reports from the States of the Federation and Abuja. Such alarm will amount to a prophecy of doom, moreover, facts have proven that the measures emplaced thus far have yielded positive against projections and anticipations.

Mr Ugochinyere further mentioned that the appropriate step for the government was addressing the issue of the complaints of the health workers by mass acquiring modern equipment, stock the isolation centre’s, provide super palliatives to the citizens and then shut down the entire contents as being witnessed around the world in a concerted effort to curtail the further spread of the deadly pandemic. He should be reminded that over ten thousand healthcare workers have been trained. For their protection, additional personal protective equipment has been distributed to all the states and more training are being arranged.

The group also pointed out that the relaxation of the lockdown orders would lead to lawlessness and rubbished the little signs of progress already recorded as it would be impossible to enforce the protocols of the pandemic.

This may not be true as security agencies have risen to the challenge of imposing the necessary measures including restriction of movement of non essential staff and persons across states and within, enforcing mandatory use of face mask, mobile courts are being run against lockdown defaulters specifically in Abuja etc.

We need the support and cooperation of all if we must beat this disaster. The Government is doing its best as it continues to adopt and adapt new global realities put out on a daily basis to best suit the current local realities.
We know covid 19 is real, but how will nigerians survive hunger? I agree with the govt here

The government should really address this matter bfr it goes out of hand.

PoliticsObasanjo Blasts Buhari Again, Calls Magu Corrupt by ward90(op): 4:55pm On Feb 13, 2018
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has taken another swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari over his administration's poor handling of the fight against corruption. Obasanjo in his latest attack accused Buhari of allowing corrupt people to be in charge of anti-corruption war. He stated this in an interview with Germany’s international broadcasting outlet, Deutsche Welle.

He lamented that the ongoing anti-corruption war has been polluted by people in his inner circle. He accused Buhari of appointing people with lack of integrity to head anti-corruption agency. According to him “I would make sure people in charge of anti-corruption institutions are people of integrity. There is no point in fighting corruption beyond you and you have corruption on your nose.”

Recall that the Department of State Services had earlier accused Magu of corruption, stressing that he would constitute liability to the anti-corruption agenda of the current administration. Under Magu, the NFIU was suspended by Egmont Group, a united body of 155 Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs). The Egmont Group provides a platform for the secure exchange of expertise and financial intelligence to combat money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF).

Staffs of the Commission had also petitioned Magu over alleged administrative incompetence, poor welfare and deliberate attempt to stagnate civilian component of the commission. Speaking on the Coalition for Nigeria that was recently launched, Obasanjo said;

“It (Coalition for Nigeria) is not an old wine in a new bottle, but a new wine in a new bottle. I will not stand in the way of that movement if it decides to become a party. But in that case, I will withdraw.”

PoliticsWhy The EFCC Lacks The Power To Investigate And Arrest Ekpenyong – Mike Ejiofor by ward90(op):
Mike Ejiofor, a former Director of the Department of State Services says the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) lacks the power to investigate or arrest former Director Generals of the DSS especially on how operational funds were spent.

Ejiofor stated this on Tuesday while reacting to failed attempt by operatives of the EFCC to arrest the former Director General of the DSS, Ita Ekpenyong.

According to him, the DSS Instrument 1 of 1999 states that the power to investigate the activities of the DSS resides in the President, making it illegal for other agencies of government to investigate the DSS.

"I don’t have a problem investigating anybody but due process must be followed. By the DSS Instrument 1 of 1999, no person or agency is empowered to investigate the spending or operational matter of the DSS except the President. It is only the President that can ask for investigation. The DSS makes returns of its spending to the President annually.

I am surprised with what is happening. We have never had it before. He (Magu ) has no power or mandate to investigate the spending of the DSS. It is not done anywhere in the world. If he had the power, he should have gone to the DG DSS. Possibly he wants to settle scores because he was indicted by the DSS report which barred his confirmation. It has never happened in the history of this nation before.”

He added that warned government officials not to sacrifice the lkaw on the altar of personal vendetta.
