tjskii: Hiy mummyz,ow body,my 2month old developed cough o,took him to d clinic and was given cough mixture and erythromicine. Dis was now wat I had a problem with,d drugs given are d type given to olderkids, just dt d dosage I'm to giv d baby is smaller,I wud av been happier if I was given infant cough syrup and erytromicine(then I wud be sure they had babies in mind wen making it),I called up 2oda docs to confirm and they said d drugs werr ok to giv d baby, went on d internet to do research and evrything I found out was against d use of coughmedicine in infants below 3mnths,I'm just confused, thinkin of stopping d coughmedicine, abeg no fear o!.. sometym drugs are recommended according to their weight. My 3 months old is 8kg.. My paed has been recommending 2.5ml for most drugs that his age is not even listed to take. Same with my older son. I sometyms get second opinion from anoda doc, and they tell me its ok for them. It is well. |
taryour: Good morning mummies in the house,a very lovely thread and educating one.let me tell you what we did wen we noticed my younger son had jaundice. We started giving him glucose & water, a midwife recommended it and it was effective. Then my mum got scent leaves and lemon grass plus long peppersoup spices (9) and boiled them together and bathed him with the water. After a week the whole tin cleared up. But we still continued to bathe him with the water for anoda week. It is well my sister. And for the cord falling off, just be patient it will come off. Just continue to clean with mentholated spirit to avoid smell or infection. |
omogemi: i gave 5mls 2ce daily. Yes it made her eat n she started adding weight although it ws a gradual process. D b.co ws prescribed by her doc. He also told me to switch to wellkid when d b.co finished. Wellkid is from 3mths to 5yrs.ur baby dey eat all that orishirishi for inside beans alone? The day u try dat with my son na only u go chop the beans I just add oil and crayfish for him and he is good to go. |
omogemi: @mummy Swtme, pele. The Lord is ur strength. Hope u r much better now.@ omogemi, thanks dear my boys are fine now thank God. Er, bronchiolitis usually starts with a very dry cough that can become productive later. The symptoms are nearly similar and sometyms mistaken for asthma. i.e the wheezing, gasping for air, heaving of the ribs. My paed told me that it affects lot of children especially boys of 3 to 6 months. ( My older son didn't have it though). Lesson learnt- run to the paed when u noticed ur baby coughing seriously for 24 hrs. You never know know what you might be preventing. Na God go helps us mothers o! Thumbs up sweet mummies, we rock! |
corrall: My dear enh, no be small thing o. i do all that, its not like she wont take initially, but she ends up refusing after 3 spoons. d dodo, i was just trying and realised that she loves it.both the push toy and walker is ok, buy IMO I prefer the walker. |
Jade William: @zibiah.That my collegue is currently on leave&has travelled out of d country so I'm sorry,I can't get al d info 4u frm her.Pls if any mother has experienced d symptoms of ear infection in a baby, pls share/contibute but wot @zinylizzy said is so correct.I only remember sh said her baby was havin ear discharges&nyt fever so sh went 2c d ENT (ear, nose&throat) doctor who told her dat som of her breastmilk was overflowin 2d baby's ear without her knowledge.my little one had an ear infection wen he was around 6wks. My doc just told us to give him 3.5 ml of zinnat(he was nearly 7kg then) for 10days and paracetamol 3ce a day because of the pain. It was completely Dried up b4 2 weeks. |
Jade William: @Warfibabe.Warfi is a Warri slang.Ar u frm there?I noticed u&Wendy hav bn absent on dis trend 4a while now.Wanted 2even mention it but my Bonny agro no gree me reason well again.God is ur strength dear.Broncholitis? That's a a heavy one.I remember d tym my neice had bronchitis at a year plus (don't knw if they're d same). It wasn't funny menhhh!! Thank God ur kids ar fine now.Welcom back.We missed uthanks dear. Yea I was born, bred and buttered in warri o!. Brochiolitis no be childs play at all. My heart practically stopped wen I saw my 3 month old wheezing and gasping for breathe. The first hospital I took him to even told me he might have baby asthma. But thank God , he is alright now. |
$wtme:thanks dear.. No be small tin. Now if any of my kids sneeze sef I dey look them twice ![]() |
ify's world:Amen.. Thanks dear. |
Hello beautilicious mummys, Its been one hell of a month for me and my kids. E remain small I for begin catch winch sef .My younger son started with what I thot was an ordinary cough to wheezing, flared nostrils and trying to breathe. We had to rush him to the hospital where they stabilized his breathing and was placed on 24hrs observation. To shorten the story, he was diagnosed of bronchiolitis and for nearly 2 weeks we had to get him totally cleared up.(Phew!) Now just wen I was beginning to relax from all the sleepless nites and what have you, my older son who was taking a fine sunday nap, suddenly developed a temperature of 39.6c.. I had to rush him to a nearby hospital where they brot down his temp and started treating him for malaria. Not really convinced that it was only malaria, I took him to see a paed (westend hospitals, warri) and was told he has tonsilitis(my bro inlaw who is a doc, already told me to check for slight swellings under his chin, if he is gathering saliva in his mouth, loss of appetite and vomiting) which I confirmed. Now we are on a 3 days treatment for him and thankfully he is responding to treatment. Also, I saw all the vaccines that I didn't give my children on their vaccine board and I am definitely gonna try and give them some before we travel back to our base. (I will post the pix I took of the vaccine board so y'all can match it with yours. Ok lemme go back and read from the 6 pages that I have missed. |
tjskii: @warfi and wendy |
tjskii: @warfi and wendytrust me, if my husband doesn't feel the rope, I will definitely feel it. I dunno about others but every tym we wannadothething I will always be conscious of the IUD, and the whole feeling will definitely fly thru the window. |

I just add oil and crayfish for him and he is good to go.
