Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by warrendam(m): 4:26pm On Feb 01, 2011
Hi Guyz,
I am very impressed with the knowledge you have and the fact that you go ahead and share it with us. Thumbs up to ya'all.

Brother George D, I have a Technosat T-888 plus receiver, which is certainly DVB-S, is it possible to upgrade it with software such that I can receive signals coming in DVB-S2 MPEG-4 format?

If it is not possible could you please advise me on a not so expensive Receiver that is HD and can receive all the formats of the signals (I mean, DVB-S, S2, MPEG-2, MPEG-4)

Otherwise, if this was already discussed before, please pardon me.

Will appreciate your response.

Many thanks

Many thanks

Hello Nairaland,
Guess you are all well.

I would like to know the TV guide for Hidden Passions on Channel 10 of Tanzania.
I thought I knew the schedule but I realized that I missed an episode last week. All I know is Monday - Friday from 22:00Hrs- 23:00Hrs and replays on Saturday and Sunday at about 11:00 am

I could be wrong, please some one help me out.

Many thanks.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Autoscanning For All Satellites by warrendam(op): 11:24am On Sep 16, 2010
Thanks a lot Microgiant for ya response.
I think the type of Receiver am using doesn't allow for that. As earlier mentioned it is a Technosat T-888 ultra. If am wrong, I stand to be corrected.

Many thanks.

Thanks for your response Ameboperoo.
I have a 1.8m dish having 2 LNBs i.e. 64Est and 68East plus a 90cm Dish at 68East, all through a Eurostar switch.
In my question, I meant the possibility of scanning all those 3 sat's at the same time. Is it possible to do that or I can only scan one sat' at atime then move to the next?

Hope I have been clearer this time round.

Many thanks.

Wow!
Good to know that it is possible. Could you please guide me through it?
How do I activate the autoscan for all satellites at the same time?

Many thanks.

Hi Nairaland,
I would like to know whether or not it is possible to use the automatic channel scan to can more than one satellite at the same time on a Technosat T-888 plus FTA receiver.

Many thanks.

Science/TechnologyRe: Lnb Mal-function by warrendam(op): 10:38am On Aug 27, 2010
Thanks Abba j, however, am not sure I know the plastic blade you are talking about. Do you mean the di-electric plate?

Secondly, I have not come across an LNB called Strong, did u mean a strong LNB or the brand of an LNB called Strong?

Thanks.
Science/TechnologyRe: Lnb Mal-function by warrendam(op): 8:30am On Aug 24, 2010
Thanks very much Abba j, am really very grateful. This has enlightened me; that means one has to take care when buying not only LNBs but also other gadgets.

Anyhow, which type of LNB would you recommend and of what Mhz Frequency?

Many thanks.
Science/TechnologyLnb Mal-function by warrendam(op): 2:49pm On Aug 19, 2010
Hi Friends,
I have 2 LNBs( 1 new and the other old) with a 1.8m solid dish. The old lnb can enable me receive and watch Citizen Tv on Intelsat 902 at 62East but when I interchange them and have the new LnB (Eurostar type) at 62East, I can't receive it(Citizen Tv).

I really want the old Lnb to be placed at 64East and the new one at 62East, where Citizen Tv is.

Could some one help me understand why the new lnb is not receiving Citizen Tv and possible solutions to that?

Many thanks.
Science/TechnologyOne Polarization by warrendam(op): 9:30am On Aug 17, 2010
Hi Nairaland,
Regards to you all for the info shared.

Now a friend of mine has a C band LNB which has stopped giving me 2 polarizations. I mean it only recognises or shows channels on one polarity i.e. either Vertical or Horizontal but not both at the same time. The receiver type is a starsat SR, (forgotten the numbers).

Could some one please offer a solution to that?
Art, Graphics & VideoAlignment Of Additional Lnbs On A Dish by warrendam(op): 2:51pm On Aug 13, 2010
Hi Nairaland,
thanks once again for the info shared herein.

I have had an opportunity to view some pics of additional LNBs on ku dishes and I've been left confused.
I live in the Eastern part of Uganda and my Ku Dish is at 68East. So I assume that for any additional LNBs, they should be vertically aligned other than horitontally, whch I have seen in those pics.

Could some one help me understand why those LNBs are aligned horizontally? I could be wrong, I need help.

Many thanks.

Thanks Twinskenny.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Increasing Dish Size by warrendam(op): 10:46am On Aug 12, 2010
Thanks Twins' for that advice.
I guess I just have to plan for the 2.4m one.

Otherwise do you have any idea on how best to mount a ku LNB on the 1.8m dish to get channels from 68East?
The dish like I earlier put already has 2 LNBs i.e. 64East and 68East, both C band.

Thanks

Satellite TV TechnologyIncreasing Dish Size by warrendam(op): 8:57am On Aug 12, 2010
Hi Nairaland, I must commend the good work done here.

I have a 180cm Dish aimed at 64East with a second LNB receiving from 68East. I however, have failed to get JCTV, Smile of a Child Tv on 64East and UBC TV. I assume it is something to do with the dish size.
I am therefore thinking of locally increasing the size to 240cm. Is it possible to do that and if it is could you please guide me?

Many thanks
