💢💥: Flood Alert 2026: ONC President Urges Proactive Measures in Rivers, Orashi Region

The President General of the Orashi National Congress (ONC), Amb. Emeni Ibe, has called on the Rivers State Government and local government chairmen across the Orashi region to take urgent and proactive steps in response to the 2026 flood warning issued nationwide.

Reacting to the 2026 Annual Flood Outlook, which identified over 30,000 communities at risk across Nigeria, Amb. Ibe expressed deep concern over the potential impact on vulnerable communities, particularly those in riverine areas of Rivers State.

He emphasized that the warning should not be treated with levity, noting that thousands of communities have already been classified under high-risk zones. According to him, early preparedness, public sensitization, and the provision of relief infrastructure are critical to mitigating the devastating effects of flooding.

Amb. Ibe urged local government authorities in the Orashi region to immediately begin the clearing of drainage systems, identification of safe evacuation centers, and collaboration with emergency response agencies to safeguard lives and property.

He further called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and relevant state agencies to intensify awareness campaigns and ensure that adequate relief materials are pre-positioned ahead of the peak flood period.

While commending Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening emergency response systems, the ONC President stressed that implementation at the state and grassroots levels remains key to preventing avoidable disasters.

“The time to act is now. We must not wait for the floods to come before responding. Preparedness will save lives, protect livelihoods, and reduce the economic losses associated with flooding,” he stated.

Amb. Ibe reaffirmed the readiness of the Orashi National Congress to collaborate with government agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and protection of communities across the region.

Orashi National Congress ONC Endorses Banigo for Second Term, Seeks Greater Inclusion for Orashi People

The Orashi National Congress (ONC), led by its President General, Amb. Emeni Ibe, has formally expressed strong support for Distinguished Senator Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, representing Rivers West Senatorial District, during a courtesy visit held on April 18, 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Amb. Ibe commended Senator Banigo for her outstanding leadership, describing her as a committed and result-driven public servant whose contributions to human capital development, healthcare improvement, and infrastructural growth across the senatorial district have been impactful, particularly within the Orashi region.

He noted that the Orashi region—comprising Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua/Odual, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas—remains a critical part of Rivers West but continues to face developmental challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, youth unemployment, limited healthcare access, and insufficient educational facilities.

Amb. Ibe used the opportunity to reaffirm the loyalty and support of the Orashi people, announcing that the ONC has scheduled a special convention on April 26, 2026, to formally endorse Senator Banigo for a second term in office.

Highlighting the Congress’ contributions to regional stability, he outlined ongoing initiatives by the ONC, including campaigns against pipeline vandalism, illegal refining activities, cultism, and sustained collaboration with traditional rulers, government authorities, and security agencies. He further emphasized advocacy efforts for the creation of additional local government areas and states.

ORASHI NATIONAL CONGRESS ONC SEEKS URGENT GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION ON DILAPIDATED ABUA–AHOADA ROAD

The Chairman and Coordinator of the Orashi National Congress (ONC) Abua/Odual chapter, Pastor Aghudumobel Solomon Wilfred, has passionately appealed to the Rivers State Government to urgently intervene and rehabilitate the badly deteriorated Abua–Ahoada Road after two Crude oil loaded trucks fell within 24th hours, describing its condition as a serious hardship and death trap for residents and road users.

Pastor Wilfred, while speaking on behalf of the good people of Abua/Odual, lamented that the road, which serves as a major link between communities within the local government area and neighboring towns, has become almost impassable due to years of neglect.
According to him, the deplorable state of the road has severely affected transportation, commerce, and the overall socio-economic activities of the people.
Motorists, traders, farmers, students, and residents who rely on the road daily now face enormous difficulties, increased transport costs, and frequent vehicle breakdowns.
“The Abua–Ahoada Road is a vital route for our people. Unfortunately, the present condition of the road has become a major source of suffering. What should ordinarily be a short journey has now turned into a stressful and sometimes dangerous experience,” Pastor Wilfred stated.
He further noted that the road is not only important for the movement of people and goods but also critical to agricultural productivity in the area. Many farmers in Abua communities depend on the road to transport their farm produce to markets in Ahoada and other parts of Rivers State.

Pastor Wilfred therefore called on the state government and relevant authorities to prioritize the rehabilitation of the road in the interest of the people. He emphasized that timely intervention would not only ease the hardship faced by residents but also stimulate economic growth and development in the area.
“The people of Abua are law-abiding and hardworking citizens. What we are simply asking for is government attention to a critical infrastructure that affects our daily lives,” he added.

The ONC Chairman,
residents and stakeholders in the area have also joined in the call, urging the government to treat the reconstruction of the Abua–Ahoada Road as a matter of urgent public importance.

Rivers People Foundation Backs ONELGA Chairman Over Night Ban on Keke and Okada Operations

The worldwide executive leadership of the Rivers People Foundation (RPF), under the leadership of its National Leader, Comr. Eze Nwaobigwe (JP), has publicly declared its support for the Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), Hon. Dr. Barr. Chief Amb. Shedrack Chukwu Obgogu, following his recent directive placing restrictions on the operations of tricycles (popularly known as Keke) and motorcycles (Okada) within parts of the council area.

According to the foundation, the decision to suspend the operations of Keke and Okada between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM in the Omoku metropolis, Okposi, Kreigene, and Obrikom communities was a necessary step aimed at strengthening security and maintaining order in the area.

Hundreds of women dressed in red flooded the streets of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday morning, demanding the reinstatement of the suspended state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Chanting “Bring Back Sim” in unison, the women took over major roads in a powerful show of solidarity, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to revoke the emergency rule currently in place in the state.

A professor of International Environmental and Public International Law, Cyprian F. Edward-Ekpo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to rescind the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara before the hearing of the suit filed by some governors on the matter before the Supreme Court.

Edward-Ekpo, who is also the Director, Institute of Law Research & Development of United Nations (ILAWDUN), Washington D.C, USA, said the swift and corrective action will help reaffirm the president’s commitment to democracy and reposition his image as a leader who values the rule of law, and demonstrate that he listens to the people.

Following the president’s suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and members of the state assembly on March 18 and the appointment of a retired military as sole administrator, the National Assembly two days later ratified the action.

Consequently, seven governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) comprising Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Osun, Plateau and Zamfara states have filed a suit at the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the action.

Prof. Edward-Ekpo said the president, allowing the Supreme Court to dismiss the matter either by technicality or by forcing the parties to withdraw the suit, as some people anticipate, would damage his reputation as a pro-democracy advocate.

He said, “I am aware that the courts, particularly the Supreme Court, are currently saddled with this matter. Mr. President, heeding my humble appeal is your best course of action.

“I understand that you are caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea— a difficult choice—waiting for the court’s decision on this constitutional crisis or taking the more prudent and popular path of correcting the error now.

“Let me explain why the latter is the wiser option: (a) If the Supreme Court upholds the emergency declaration and the suspension of a democratically elected state governor and legislature by another democratically elected official (the President and the National Assembly), it will permanently stain your legacy.

“You will be remembered as the President who undermined constitutional principles and legitimised illegality. Regardless of the court’s ruling, the perception will be that the Supreme Court was influenced by you.

“However, in their commitment to justice and constitutionalism, the Supreme Court Justices cannot, in good conscience, sustain such an obvious constitutional violation. Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution does not grant a democratically elected President the power to suspend or remove a democratically elected state government under a federal system—under any guise.”

He argued that it also does not empower the National Assembly to take a voice vote to determine a two-thirds majority or override constitutional provisions to justify a state of emergency.

The action of imposing a sole administrator on a state, he said, would directly contradict Section 1(2) of the 1999 Constitution, which explicitly forbids governance by a military-style sole administrator.

Rivers: Court adjourns suit challenging appointment of LG administrators

The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned to May 22, 2025, the hearing of a suit seeking to bar Rivers State Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, from appointing local government administrators across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The claimant, Oyingi Imiete, at the resumed hearing, told the court that the matter was scheduled for hearing of a motion for interlocutory injunction.

Imiete, however, revealed that the respondent had already appointed sole administrators for all 23 LGAs on April 9, 2025, allegedly after receiving the court’s order and originating processes in the suit.

He explained that service was effected by the court bailiff on the same day as the appointments.

“The matter came up for motion. The applicant’s motion and they said the motion was withdrawn by the applicant.

“The applicants had equally put in the motion for mandatory restorative order and it equally has been fixed for hearing because the actions of the respondent have greatly affected the subject matter before the court,” the claimant said.

Responding, counsel for the defendant argued that the originating processes were not served until two days after the appointments and supported the claimant’s decision to withdraw the motion, calling the appointments a completed act.

He added that his client had not yet been served the new motion and reserved the right to respond when properly served.

Both parties agreed to proceed with a substantive hearing of the originating summons.

The court stressed that despite perceived frivolity, all applications must be heard and stated that the facts and issues remain within the purview of the parties.

The case was subsequently adjourned to May 22, 2025, for further hearing.

The suit, filed by the PILEX Centre for Civic Education Initiative and its coordinator Courage Nsirimovu, seeks to stop the administrator from making such appointments, which the plaintiffs argue are unconstitutional and violate the principles of democratic governance.

Justice Adamu Turaki Mohammed, on April 7, granted an interim injunction barring Ibas from proceeding with the appointments and summoned him to appear before the court to explain why the injunction should not be made permanent.

However, the Sole Administrator went ahead to make the appointments, which drew criticisms from civil society organizations.

Rivers: Counter Protest Errupts In Port Harcourt As Residents Rally Behind The Embattled Gov. Siminalayi Fubara!

Tensions flared in Port Harcourt on Monday as a wave of supporters flooded the streets in a counter-protest to express solidarity with embattled Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Captured in a video shared by ESET TV, the demonstrators marched through key areas of the city, chanting and holding placards that read “Fubara is our mandate” and “Rivers people stand with Fubara,” before assembling at the gate of the Government House.



This public display of support followed a protest the previous day by opposition-backed demonstrators calling for Fubara’s resignation. Those protesters had accused the governor of violating constitutional procedures and mismanaging the state’s affairs. The latest pro-Fubara protest appears to have been a direct response to these allegations and calls for his removal.



One of the protest organizers addressed the crowd, describing the march as a grassroots-driven movement by Rivers citizens frustrated with what they perceive as undue political interference. “Fubara was chosen by the people, and only the people can decide his future—not a handful of power-hungry politicians,” he said passionately, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.



The demonstration caused significant traffic disruptions across the city, prompting security forces to be deployed to maintain order. Political observers have cautioned that unless swift steps are taken to deescalate tensions, the unrest could hamper governance and stability in the resource-rich state.

Hon Ichemati Sheds More Light Amid Rivers Political Tumoil

Political analyst and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Ezebunwo Ichemati, has raised fresh concerns over the political climate in Rivers State, warning of a growing pattern of intimidation against leaders who refuse to serve external interests.


Speaking on Arise TV, on Sunday, Ichemati claimed that certain political actors were actively attempting to control the actions of elected officials through coercion and blackmail. “In Rivers, if you decide not to be used, you’ll be incapacitated through threats,” he said.

He alleged that individuals loyal to powerful political figures were pressuring state officials, particularly those close to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to align with hidden agendas. According to him, those who resist are systematically sidelined or threatened with political and legal consequences.

Ichemati called on civil society and the national leadership of the PDP to intervene, warning that the situation, if left unchecked, could destabilize governance in the state.


His comments add to growing concerns about internal conflicts and external interference in Rivers politics. Observers say the tension could impact the administration’s focus on development unless dialogue and reconciliation efforts are urgently initiated.

Orashi National Congress Passes Vote of Confidence on Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, Rejects Falsehood and Calls for Justice

In a unanimous decision, the Orashi National Congress (ONC) has passed a vote of confidence on Rt. Hon. Edison Ogerenyi Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State. The resolution was reached during a crucial meeting of ONC stakeholders held in Port Harcourt.

The congress acknowledged Ehie’s unwavering commitment to integrity and truth, particularly in light of recent allegations against him. His recent statement on Channels TV Politics, where he refused to engage in a public altercation with Mr. George Nwaeke, was lauded as a demonstration of his confidence in the judicial system. Instead of trading accusations, Ehie has directed his legal team to file a criminal libel suit against Nwaeke, reinforcing his stance against baseless allegations.

The ONC highlighted Ehie’s distinguished political career, emphasizing his service as a former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. His contributions to the development of the Orashi region and Rivers State at large were also praised. Notable among these are his philanthropic efforts, which include youth employment initiatives, postgraduate scholarships for Ekpeye students, vehicle donations, and financial assistance to the less privileged in Ahoada East LGA.

In their statement, the ONC urged Ehie to remain resolute in his pursuit of justice and truth. They expressed confidence that his legal team will diligently handle the matter, ensuring that justice prevails. The stakeholders reiterated their support and solidarity, describing Ehie as a beacon of integrity and leadership in the Orashi region.

On Monday, March 31, 2025, the people of the Orashi region convened to deliberate on pressing state and national issues, including the false claims of corruption and violence sponsorship leveled against Governor Siminilayi Fubara and Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, by Dr. George Nwaeke. Following the meeting, a vote of confidence was reaffirmed on Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie.

The Holy Spirit is the distributor of all spiritual gifts.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11;
[4] Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
[5] And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
[6] And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
[8] For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
[9] To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
[10] To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
[11] But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

As a child of God, it is important to stress that there is a deposit of spiritual gifts in you which is actually meant to profit you and the Church.

But profiting from a particular gift require certain necessities which includes but not limited to;
1. Identifying the gift
2. Developing the identified gift
3. Serving others with the gift
4. Praying in the spirit
5. Word study and meditation.

To identify the particular spiritual gift deposited in you, you will need the help of someone higher and more knowledgeable than you in spiritual things to put you through even though there may be manifest signs of the gift.
This will enable you to identify the actual gift in you despite similarities in operation.

Beloveth child of God, is Jesus Christ still the center of your thoughts?

Ephesians 1:13;
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE,

While we are still looking at the benefits and functions of the Holy Ghost in the life of a child of God, it is also pertinent to identify the criteria for which the Holy Spirit can dwell in man’s life.

The Holy Spirit as clearly stated in the scripture above is the only seal of the believer, He authenticates the true children of God.

The Holy Spirit give the child of God divine identity and a name on earth because every seal bears the identity of the establishment that owns the product.

The steps to being sealed by the Holy Spirit are;
1. Trust in God after you have heard the word of truth
2. Receiving the gospel of your salvation (accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour)
3. Believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

Just as the seal distinguishes and authenticates a letter from ordinary papers, that is how the Holy Spirit distinguishes you from the multitude.

John 14:26;
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Isaiah 51:12;
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;

The Holy Spirit comforts the children of God in time of challenges.

In that moment of which you are distressed, the Holy Spirit who abides in the children of obedience always shows up to comfort and strengthen them and in some cases, he comes through men to comfort and strengthen the children of God.

Beloveth child of God, Jesus gave, what about you?

Mark 8:8-9;
[8] So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
[9] And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

Romans 8:11;
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

The Holy Spirit quickens (activate, strengthen, etc)
It was the quickening power of the Holy Ghost that activated the five loaves of bread and two fishes to keep on multiplying after each cut.

The Holy Spirit’s quickening power can strengthen you to be lively again in the things that brings God glory and joy to men.

He can give you an idea that will multiply you in all ramification against human calculations.

John 14:26;
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE SHALL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Holy Spirit teaches all things, including educational subjects and sound business ideas.

But this is not possible if you don’t have Jesus Christ in your heart as your Lord and Saviour.

Beloveth child of God, is Jesus Christ still the center of your thoughts?

Beloveth child of God, the best thing that can happen to a man is to have an intimate relationship with the Holy Ghost.

Having a good communicating relationship with the Holy Spirit avails you with innumerable benefits.

Acts 1:8;
BUT YE SHALL RECEIVE POWER, AFTER THAT THE HOLY GHOST IS COME UPON YOU: AND YE SHALL BE WITNESSES unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Holy Spirit gives you power (spiritual, mental, intellectual, health, wealth) to witness Jesus Christ upon the earth.
He empowers you with sound wisdom to counsel others and be discrete in your decisions.
He will give you ideas on the kind of business to invest in; quicken your health and fight your spiritual battles.

Witnessing Christ on earth is not just about preaching or telling people about Jesus but character reflection of the person of Jesus Christ.

Acts 1:1;
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

The Holy Spirit empowers men with financial ideas to enable them witness Christ through giving.

Jesus both did and taught in His days on earth, therefore, for the gospel of Christ to be whole in your life, you also must demonstrate love by practically giving to the needy alongside your preaching.

Beloveth child of God, how often do you examine yourself in the secret place with God?

Psalms 139:23-24;
[23] Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
[24] And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

This spiritual diagnostics is one of the most essential steps in our walk with God.

As routine medical check ups are essential to physical health, that is how routine spiritual checks are essential for a healthy relationship with God.

A doctor can be fake and still put on lab-coat and stethoscope, but what differentiates the fake from the qualified is the knowledge and operation license given by the government.

2 Corinthians 13:5;
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Constant routine spiritual and self examination keeps your relationship with the Holy Spirit who is our seal and license of operation intact. It exposes you to deeper spiritual knowledge and tangible manifestation of God’s glory around your life.

ORASHI NATIONAL CONGRESS REJECTS PROPOSED ORASHI STATE IN SOUTH EAST

The Orashi National Congress (ONC) has formally distanced itself from the proposed creation of Orashi State in Nigeria’s South East region, asserting that any state creation involving the Orashi people must be within the South South geopolitical zone.
In a statement issued by the President General of the Congress, Snr. Comrade Amb. Emeni Ibe, the group emphasized that the call for Orashi State originated from the South East and does not represent the aspirations of the Orashi people in the South South.
“We are not involved in any agitation for Orashi State in the South East. We are Southerners, and we will remain in the South South. If we demand a state, it will be within our rightful region” Ibe stated firmly.
The Orashi region, known for its vast oil and gas reserves, plays a critical role in Nigeria’s economic landscape. The ONC stressed that any administrative restructuring or state creation that involves the Orashi people must recognize their South South identity and economic significance.
The stand of the Congress comes amid broader discussions on state creation across Nigeria, with various ethnic and regional groups pushing for administrative adjustments to enhance representation and development.
However, the ONC insists that its interests must align with the historical, cultural, and economic realities of the South South region.
The statement from the ONC therefore, serves as a clear message to policy makers and agitators that any move to alter administrative boundaries must be based on proper consultations and respect for the identity of the people involved.

Beloveth child of God, God loves and rewards diligent children.

Matthew 7:20-23;
[20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Diligent persons are not known by their words but works.

Jesus Christ in the above passage actually acknowledge that these people prophesied in his name, cast out devils and did wonderful works in his name, yet he called them “ye that work iniquity”

The demons responded to the potency in the name of Jesus as well as the wonderful works, but not according to the power or diligent commitment of these people to the services of God.

Jonah was not committed to God yet he won a great city.
