Business / Re: Can You Fast For A Whole Year To Become A Billionaire? by way4naija: 6:22am On Nov 05, 2012
Fasting gats nothing to do with becoming rich in life.According to the Bible we are asked to fast so as to get power and authority over the enemy.Besides fasting can also make you to reflect on your life.

Anything else than the above you just gonna end up a pauper. What makes you rich is a rich mind.Knowing God is a plus.[

You're damn correct. The kind of democracy the West is diplomatically forcing down the throats of the Islamnic States is already backfiring. These guys need someone like Saddam,Ghaddafi etc. They must be kept in line by strong hands, not a strong institution.

FSU: LASTMA AGENT AT WORK

This OP knows that motor park thuggery, oftentimes deadly, is a common feature of daily life in the SW. However, for Lagos, I thought Fasola, a so-called lawyer, will do things the civil way. Why does he approve and condone this crude manner of enforcing the law. Yeah! he inherited it from Tinubu, the chief thug; but one understands Tinubu and thuggery, but not Fasola.

The uncivilized attitude form of arrest displayed by the LASTMA official isn't because of Fashola. Most Lagos commercial drivers are lawless and thugs, the officials gotta be like robcops sometimes to enforce law

justice11: Well articulated solution to the plethora of Nigeria woes. I hope we have a listening govt and a willing head of that govt.
Truly, together we are strong but divided,we fall.
May it not be too late before we realize our error.

Your comment is highly appreciated.Indeed,I sincerely hope the govt will listen and do the right things
Politics / An Open Letter To Mr. President-the Way Out! by way4naija: 11:53am On Jun 19, 2012
The incessant violence experience in Nigeria shall continue until the government at the center leads aright. Before the advent of Boko Haram there have been different militant groups in Nigeria. They all often use words and phrases like "marginalization", "resource control", "environmental degradation" etc. They claim they resolve to violence because of the mentioned problems. However, when the government of Late President Yar'Adua came up with the amnesty programs, some of them lay down their arms and embraced the programs.

Boko Haram is not just about bread and butter but it is a movement deeply rooted in and wrapped around religion. And the truth is any militia that is religiously inspired is a thorn on the flesh of any society to get rid of. Because people “execute” their conscience when murders are committed based on religious conviction. Besides recruitment of new sect members is easy to do all because religion is the main ingredient of the movement.
Yes, a few northern elites blame the birth of Boko Haram on the level poverty in the north. But in reality poverty is predominant everywhere in Nigeria. Although, Boko Haram seems not to have a clear formation but their mission to Islamize the north and possibly Nigeria has been clearly spelled out. Their leader back up the mission by taking a quote from Qur'an 9:29.

It is twice harder for the FG to deal with Boko Haram than dealing MASSOB, OPC, MEND etc. However, one thing can move Nigeria forward and that is the main reason I chose to write this open letter to you Your Excellency and to those who are genuinely pushing for strong democratic and economic institution in Nigeria.

Permit me to start on this note: I can not school Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the Macro Economics taught in the classrooms of Harvard but I can teach about the “Chinese Economic Miracles” and that of the BRICS:
Ma’am, can you tell us which developed or developing country in the world gives monthly allocations to its states like the FG does in Nigeria? I bet none. I have done my research about this. Monthly allocation is a military strategy designed to render the regions dependent on the government at the center. The string of self-actualization of the Eastern region which the Late Ojukwe pulled made the military to start giving monthly allocation so that the states would look up to them for “food” and to render the states dysfunctional. This has led to unprecedented looting in some states, built acrimony among states and regions and worst of all insecurity and finally terrorism.

Your Excellency, the below suggestions are put forward after I have deliberated with many scholars abroad and after studying closely how countries have developed. Possibly you have heard these before but let history bear me witness that I contribute my quota as one of the Nigerians in Diasporas.
They are as follows:

1) The earlier the better the FG accepts that Nigeria can only develop when each geo-political region uses what they have to develop their region. And this shall transcend to national development. THE MONTHLY MANNA ALLOCATION SHOULD STOP! Even God did stop raining manna because HE knew HIS people would be made cripple and lame if manna continues to fall.
Ajaokuta Steel Plant would have become one of the largest steel production plants in the world by now if Kogi State or the region has been given the power to manage it. The abundant solid minerals in Nasarawa and Plateau, Gombe, Bauchi etc would have created thousands of jobs if the states have the autonomy. The power generation problem would have been solved long before now.
The FG should give the states a year or two to prepare for the stoppage of manna. They should put on their thinking caps and design how their states or regions would prosper.
Of course, some states do not have many mineral resources or skilled human capital but there is no state in Nigeria that does not have anything to be proud of economically. If nothing at least tourism which is enough to run a state. If Kenya could then we can if we are willing and we work at it.

However, the FG might support such states with economic viable projects this could be in form of loans or grants.

2) The local government should be made strong enough, and credible people should be elected. Housing, roads, water, landscaping, health etc can be provided by the local government while the state supports them too. No need for the federal government to get involved in that.
The freeways connecting states should be constructed by the FG, construction of tollgates is necessary for easy access to finance for road maintenance and for the investors or the FG to recoup the money spent.

3) Each region or state is expected to remit taxes to the federal coffers on monthly, quarterly or yearly basis .A special task force department is to be set-up in the FIRS in Abuja to monitor and audit the accounts of the states or regions so as to avoid short-changing the federal government in the payment of their taxes and other fees. They are to report corrupt leaders at the state and local government to the appropriate body for possible prosecution.

4) The FG will focus on security, national health care and insurance, currency, military, education. The FG should at least in a year carry out a capital project in each region.

The FG should task each of the 6-geo political zones to pull resources together to construct a state of the art hospitals; Wal Mart kind of hospitals just like Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in India. In the end we shall be proud of at least 6 world class hospitals in Nigeria; jobs are created, lives are saved and Nigeria will become another "Mecca" of where people travel to for medical treatments. Meanwhile the state indigenes or regional indigenes are given discounts.

Your Excellency, the name we call the above reforms does not matter as long as we carry they out wholeheartedly. Call it Resource Control, True Fiscal Federalism etc.

Conclusively, “idle mind is the devil’s kitchen, lounge, bedroom and study room”, I do say. When the young men are busy working and making a living it will be practically impossible for militant groups to recruit members. And after a period the desire to maim will die and the movement will follow. The National Orientation Agency should get back to work fully, they should start mass enlightenment programs for the youths to shun violence. This should on TV, national newspaper, radio in all the major languages in Nigeria.

I can not but agree with the remark President Obama made during his visit to Ghana in ’09, he said Africa does not need a strong man but a strong institution. With the above in place, I give Nigeria 10years, her name shall be heard across the length and breath of the globe gloriously. We shall call it "The Black Race Miracles". This is what Nigeria represents; the black race. There is strength in our diversity.

My condolences to the families of those killed in the last Sunday bomb blast in Zaria and Kaduna. And to those who were killed as a result of the reprisal attacks.
LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
