Phones / 11 Ways Smart Watches Are Better Than Smart Phones by WAYword: 3:34pm On Apr 05, 2016
Even When the Apple smart watch,Samsung smart and Bryte smart watch are finally here, but despite the company's best efforts some people remain skeptical about the whole concept of a smartwatch.

I personally have used some of these smart watches like the Bryte smart watch, one of the best Android Wear devices on the market. At first, smartwatches can be confusing and seem redundant, but after using them for an extended amount of time both the user and the device begin to work in harmony.

currently the average trending products trending in the nigerian market is the samsung gear watch and the Bryte smart watch which are of average prices aside the apple smart watch.

Unfortunately for the companies selling smartwatches, most consumers don't get the opportunity to try-before-you-buy. We're here to help with a number of useful, real-world benefits that we've discovered, which should be enough to convince even the most ardent smartwatch detractors.

1. Notifications

For us, notifications are the main reason you'd buy a smartwatch. The ease of having them sent to your wrist and being able to identify their importance without removing your phone from a pocket or bag is invaluable. It simplifies your life and it saves time - and time is important.

2. Social etiquette

Checking your phone can be rude. Replacing that with a quick glance at your wrist is quicker, simpler and subtler.

3. Internet of Things

I can control the volume of my Sonos sound system with a few taps on my wrist, I can also turn Hue lights on and off. Again, it's quicker and simpler than retrieving a phone, and the Internet of Things and 'Smart Home' technology is only set to expand.

4. Travel

During Apple's 'Spring Forward' event, Tim Cook demonstrated the Apple Watch being used to get through airport security by displaying the user's boarding pass directly on the watch screen. Anything that makes the airport security process easier is a benefit.

5. Answering calls

Various smartwatches handle answering calls differently. The Sony Smartwatch 3, for example, allows users to accept and decline calls on the watch, but activates the phone's speaker and microphone (or headphones, if plugged in) for the conversation. This is helpful when walking around with headphones on, or while driving, when your smartphone isn't easily accessible.

Others, such as the Apple Watch, allow users to answer and carry out conversations directly from the watch (the phone may remain in your bag). This may make you feel like Dick Tracy, and it's not the ideal way to answer every call, but it does come in useful for quick conversations when you can't get to you mobile.

6. Fitness

I've had a Fitbit, worn it for several weeks, then forgotten about it - it's a common problem with dedicated fitness trackers. All smartwatches are capable of step counting, and most will run fitness apps such as Endomondo and Strava. The benefit of smartwatches is that they hook users in with other useful features, making them less likely to be sidelined.

7. Music

You can walk around town listening to music on the phone in your pocket, if a track comes on that you don't like then simply hit 'next' on your smartwatch. You can also pause, adjust the volume or line-up the next track. It's sounds trivial, but it really does make listening to music easier.

8. Battery life

One of the biggest drains on your mobile's battery life is that big, high-resolution display - as a smartwatch reduces the amount of time that large screen needs to be on, it can have a significant impact on battery life.

And before you question whether being connected to a wearable all-day drains the battery - most use efficient Bluetooth 4.0, which isn't power hungry at all.

9. Customisation

Being able to change your watch face everyday is surprisingly fun, on the weekends I can walk around with a dancing Micky Mouse on my wrist, but at the Monday morning office meeting I can wear a more professional watch face.

10. Security

Ever found yourself in a rough area at night and too afraid to get your £600 smartphone out? Luckily a smartwatch is a lot more discreet (well, as long as you don't go flashing your £8000 Apple Watch around).

11. Navigation

And finally we come to navigation - getting around an unknown city is much easier with a smartwatch. Directions are sent to your wrist, telling you when and where to turn next.

Walking around while following directions on your mobile increases the chance of that glass and aluminium baby meeting the cold, hard concrete. Reducing the chance of this happening is another major benefit to wearables.
Apple Watch Maps

Digital Spy

Of course, the main argument against smartwatches is that they simply do everything a smartphone can, which is true, but they're not there to replace your phone - they're there to complement it, and make your life that little bit easier.

Finally, smart watch is more economical especially in this hard times where there is no light, fuel etc..

Politics / Re: Prosecute 31 Former Govs Indicted For Corruption, SERAP Tells Attorney General by WAYword: 10:08am On Nov 23, 2015
source??
Offside:

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent an open letter to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mallam Abubakar Malami, SAN requesting him to “urgently take steps to take over and prosecute all 31 former governors suspected of official corruption while in office.”

SERAP said this action “is necessary to send a strong signal that the President Muhammadu Buhari government will not tolerate high level official corruption no matter who is involved, and to secure public confidence and trust in the office of the Attorney General.”

The letter dated 20 November 2015 and signed by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni reads in part: “This request is brought to give practical effect to the exercise of the powers of the Attorney-General under Section 174(1) (b) of the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 (as amended). The request is also entirely consistent with your widely publicised commitment to audit and pursue high level corruption cases and end the impunity of perpetrators in the country.”

“SERAP would like to draw your attention to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Report presented to the National Assembly in 2006 by the former Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Nuhu Ribadu. The Report, which was accepted and adopted by the National Assembly, documented the cases and indictments against 31 former governors.”

“SERAP urges you to seek and obtain a copy of the Report from the National Assembly, and to use this as a basis to pursue prosecution of the governors. Pursuing these cases would help to enhance public confidence and trust in the office of Attorney General, as previous occupiers of the office seemed to be disinterested in prosecuting or facilitating prosecution of high level cases of official corruption.”

“SERAP believes that there is already a strong prima-facie case and sufficient information for you to exercise your constitutional authority and ensure that suspected perpetrators of high level official corruption are brought to justice fairly and to recover and repatriate stolen public wealth.”

“Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution grants to the Attorney-General the power to among others “(a) institute and undertake criminal proceedings against any person before any court of law in Nigeria, other than a court-martial, in respect of any offence created by or under any Act of the National Assembly; (b) to take over and continue any such criminal proceedings that may have been instituted by any other authority or person.” This section also requires the Attorney General to exercise his power having regard to “the public interest and the interest of justice.”

“SERAP believes that there is at the moment no greater public interest than an urgent and diligent prosecution of the cases of indicted 31 former governors. Because corruption is well entrenched in Nigeria, fighting it requires not only a minimum level of political will and an adequate and sensible strategy, but also involves being ready and able to confront powerful interest groups that clearly benefit from the status quo and will resist any such initiatives.”

“The full and effective prosecution of the former governors is a test case for the Buhari government’s commitment to fight corruption and end impunity of perpetrators in the country. By effectively prosecuting the indicted former governors, you would not only be exercising your constitutional mandate and authority but also protecting the sanctity and values entrenched in the 1999 Constitution. The allegations against the former governors are grave and prohibited by law.”

“Therefore, prioritising these cases is important to give practical effect to the constitutional principle of the rule of law. We believe that it is the involvement of many high-level public officials in corruption and the display of unsubstantiated wealth that have precipitated corruption among low level public servants in the country.”

“Pursuing the 31 cases would also help to obtain the international support and mutual legal cooperation and assistance required to recover and repatriate stolen wealth, which can then be spent to provide the much needed infrastructure and development of the country.”

“SERAP notes that 24 of the indicted 31 former governors by the EFCC have also been indicted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and their cases referred to the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Uwais for corruption trial.”

“SERAP hopes that you will take forward these cases as a matter of public interest and for the sake of justice for victims of corruption. SERAP will leave open the possibility of legal action to compel you to take steps in this direction.”

Silvester Okuku, 33, of Badawa Quarters in Kano has been sentenced to two months imprisonment by for beating one Comfort King.
The accused was charged for criminal force, an offence which contravened Section 265 of the Penal Code. The Prosecutor, Cpl Yakubu Galadima told the court that on July 19, Comfort King of Badawa Police Station Line, reported the case to Badawa police Division, Kano.
Galadima told the court that Okuku used force on King and beat her up, as a result of which she sustained an injury on her face while he also broke her rubber bucket.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate Fatima Muhammad sentenced him to two months imprisonment or pay a fine of N7, 000 for the offence he committed.

She therefore ordered the accused to pay N700 to the complainant, as compensation for the bucket, failure of which the accused would be sentenced to three days imprisonment. The court told the accused that he had the right to appeal within 30 days.

Politics / Supporters Gather As EFCC Grills Saraki’s Wife by WAYword: 1:55pm On Jul 28, 2015
Supporters of Mrs. Toyin Saraki, the wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki, are gathering at the Wuse Zone II, Abuja’s office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as the anti-graft agency currently grills the Senate President’s wife.

The supporters, who are believed to be from Kwara State, are gathering to show their support for Mrs. Saraki, who has come to the EFCC’s office to honour the commission’s invitation, said to be in connection with some award of contracts when the Senate President was the governor of Kwara State.

It is not clear what the loyalists would do next neither have they embarked on any protest.

The EFCC interrogators are currently quizzing Mrs. Saraki in the agency’s office.
