EVERLASTING JOY FOUNDATION CONITUNES LENDING-HAND TO THE WIDOWS
09 JULY 2020
In continuation of their countrywide tour around Nigeria, EVERLASTING JOY FOUNDATION visited widows in Ayede-Ekiti, Ilafon-Ekiti and Isan-Ekiti. During their visit, additional 80 Widows have been added to the existing 6000 Widows in the EVERLASTING JOY FOUNDATION’S database. The profiling of the widows on 09 July 2020 took place at the palace of Oni-Isan of Isan-Ekiti, Alafon of Ilafon-Ekiti and the Ayede-Ekiti Multipurpose hall respectively. The outreach also featured distribution of foodstuff items to the participant. This is in line with the Foundation’s aim to help vulnerable widows who were facing extreme poverty in the society irrespective of tribe or religious background. The EVERLASTING JOY Foundation has engaged in corporate responsibility at other parts of the country, improving the condition of the poor widows. The profiling event in Isan-Ekiti, Ilafon-Ekiti and Ayede-Ekiti is a continuation of our responsibility to reach-out to the widows and needy in rural areas of Ekiti State and to identify with them, during this critical time of our National life. Our registration is free and still open at our office at EVERLASTING JOY Foundation in Abuja Country-Office. We have also arranged with different anchors to train our register widows with unique skills to encourage them on self-reliance. EVERLASTING JOY has made adequate provision for start-up capital for widows interested in contributing to the local economy. Some areas of the training include:
Making of Akara/buns/puff-puff
Making of Cake/Chin-Chin
Fish farming, Goat Farming, Snail-farming, Poultry farming
Pottery
Making palm-oil
Making of Soup / bleach
Fashion design
Hair Dressing
We will also continue to advocate for the structure that will open social-economic opportunities to the vulnerable widows. Efforts is underway to collaborate with the National Center for Women Development on an effective structure that will help the widows. For those that are economically productive, contributing to the local economy, we have arranged for Widows’ cooperative to enable them to enjoy a revolving interest-free loan. However, some of the rural widows, in our database, will be engaged in what we called Agric-trading for poverty alleviation. This means that we shall provide a value chain platform to the widows in rural farming to enable them to maximise profit from their products. These are efforts by the EVERLASTING JOY Foundation to empower widows to be self-reliance and self-sustaining.

EVERLASTING JOY Foundation is a Non-Government Organisation based in Abuja, Nigeria. In the spirit of service to humanity, our Foundation felt the need to identify with the widows in the society. Today, our aim of the outreach is to help vulnerable widows who were facing extreme poverty in the society. Several widows from other parts of the country have enjoyed the assorted food items, irrespective of tribe or religious background. In the past few weeks, EVERLASTING JOY Foundation have engaged in corporate responsibility at other parts of the country, improving the condition of the poor widows.
Today’s event is a continuation of our responsibility to reach-out to the widows and needy in FCT suburbs and to identify with them, during this critical time of our National life. The EVERLASTING JOY Foundation have registered over 6000 widows representing 1000 each per area council. Our registration is free and still open at our office at EVERLASTING JOY Foundation in Abuja. We have also arranged with different anchors to train our register widows on unique skills to encourage them on self-reliance. EVERLASTING JOY have made adequate provision for start-up capital to widows interested in contributing to the local economy.

Our foundation is now appealing to National Center for Women Development to put a structure in place that will open social-economic opportunities to the vulnerable widows.

Our research has shown that the urban widows are highly vulnerable in recent years. As soon as this Pandemic (COVID-19) is over, we will roll-out the first Phase of this loan in FCT, Lagos and Port-Harcourt, concurrently. This does not prevent the suburban widows that we found to be critical in food sustainability. However, over 2500 rural widows, in our database, will be engaged in what we called Agric-trading for poverty alleviation. This means that we shall provide a value chain platform to the widows in rural farming to enable them to maximise profit from their products. These are efforts by the EVERLASTING JOY Foundation to empower widows to be self-reliance and self-sustaining.
Let me use this opportunity to thank the founder of this Foundation and the entire board of
trustees for their selflessness in reaching out to the needy at this time of our national life. On

UNIABUJA SRA PROCLAMATION ON EXECUTIVE ARM:A RAPE ON DEMOCRACY AND THE ENTIRE STUDENTS COMMON INTEREST
It is so paramount that at this point, one should look directly into one's actions and deduce if some actions are actually carried out with proper thought or they were just selfishly and hurriedly done with prejudice and for parochial interest. Article 2,Section One (vii) of the Students Union Government constitution as amended last year posited the aim and objectives of the union as to; 'uphold, propagate and struggle for the ideals of fundamental human rights.' In Article 6,Section Three (ix), the duties of the executive arm is to 'ensure the defense of the aim and objectives of the constitution'. Article 6,Section Four 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11 have well explained the duties of every executive member of the union, and Article 6,Section Five 1,2 and 3 together with Section Six 3,6,9,12 and 15 have respectively defined the constitutional duties and rights of the SRA(parliament) and its principal officers; with all these quotes from the constitution, the parliamentarians are enjoined to be properly equipped with the provisions of the constitution and be properly guided by the constitution on Union matters and stop being guided or used by any group, caucus, personal feelings or emotion. Article 12,Section One 3(a) has empowered the SRA to be in the knowledge of whatever expenses made by any Union official who visit other campuses and institutions and such Union officials are not being lodged by their host, such expenses is subjected to the approval of the SRA. This is the only article that permits the SRA to act swiftly on any erring official who fail to communicate this to the SRA by submitting a statement of expenditure within 3 days of return and such official will be asked to refund such money. Article 10, Section 1(ix) states 'no official of the union shall be impeached and/or suspended without proper investigation.
Based on the above facts it is now glaring that the release of a publication by parliament on suspension of the Financial Secretary, Welfare Secretary and President is indeed laughable. Therefore, the entire students are hereby advised to disclaim this publication and go on with their activities. Meanwhile as law abiding Union leaders, we have resolved to engage the judiciary in fighting this course as posited by Article 10 Section 1(xii) as we respect the rule of law and principle of separation of power.

A REJOINDER BEFITTING FOR FACELESS MERCENARIES AND A WAKE UP CALL TO THE SRA

I write with a mixture of sadness and joy in my heart and I hope that this write up circulate round for every Student of University of Abuja to read and ask questions.

My feeling if sadness emanate from no where other than the fact that those to whom the student gave their mandate to represent them at the level of the SRA are mostly cowards running errands for non academic students as well as, I believe, the oppressors. They hide behind the mask of virtue to concoct baseless document and financial dealings to drag the name of the Union in the mud.

I say those financial record about frauds from the Union financial Secretary are concocted, mangled and cooked up for the following reasons:

1. If there's misappropriation/embezzlement of funds then I should wonder why the focus is on the Fin. Sec alone because he alone can steal from an account that has more than one signatories.

2. If the SRA members are not either cowards or accomplices in the funds misappropriation as purported then they would have come up with documents of proof to demonstrate to the students they claim to be representing about this fraud. Instead they chose a non academic faceless student to do their dirty job while they eavesdrop at the reaction of students.

3. If they are not been used to cause a shunt that may prevent a successful election and hand over in the Okoye led Excos then they would have understood better - that they have the right to summon the Fin. Sec( Comr. Bankole) to present and defend the statement of account instead of making caricature of themselves and those who sent them to represent them. How can you suspend someone without fair hearing. I just wonder what the caliber so called honorable. This 3rd reason is very important and should be considered very seriously by all who cares.

4. They wrote that the Executive collected =N550,000 without remitting to the Union account yet they suspended one Executive. Seem to me that all Excos are equal but some are more equal than others. You chose carefully who you think you can disgrace with ease to stage an open quarrel abi? You have decided in error to disgrace yourself too because if the Union goes down, you go down too.

5. The SRA blinded by their hurried disposition to take action became disabled with understanding that they should have summoned the Fin. Sec of the Union to demand for Explanations and so were unable to get some basics from the statement submitted to them by the Fin. Sec.

I want to admonish them, SRA, to take charge and investigate the details of the content of the statement of account as explained below and do the needful fast if they find nothing against Comr. Bankole otherwise they'll not only join their mercenary to bury their heads in shame but will regret the hand of nemesis in black mailing and innocent man.

Break down of statement:

1. Chris Ifeanyi led Govt left =N21,738.17 ( opening bal on March 1, 2017)

2. March 02,2017
=N50,000 was paid into Unions account supported by Mgt for the burial of late Simi( the student who was killed by a hit and run vehicle),

3. March 09, 2017
=N1,200,000 Exco take off grant. from the Union dues.

4. March 10,2017
=N50, 000 support to the New Excos by Indomie company.

5. March 13, 2017:
=N300, 000 for SUG Inaugural lecture and Orientation. Also, =N1, 000,000 for parliament take off Grant; both from Union Dues.

6. March 30, 2017
-=N216,000 for 6weeks maintenance and support of security personnel ( civil def, police, SARs and Road safety) under the bridge after simi's accident.
- =N20, 000 for capacity building workshop. Both mgt sponsored.


7. April 04,2017:
=N250,000 for Fuelling of vehicle, feeding and accommodation for a 3day NAUS conference in Minna for 12members. From Union Dues.

8. May 05, 2017 :
=N1, 455, 195 for speed bumps in Psite. Mgt sponsored

May 11, 2017
=N150,000 for NUGA game with member team from Uniabuja including the skl coach: from Union dues

May 24, 2017
=N105, 000
Burial of late Olumide( the student who fell from security vehicle) at Ondo state - 3students reps + driver + fuelling - mgt sponsored

=N400, 000: security summit on crime in Lagos; 5Excos rep reg with 20k each. + Driver + fuelling + accommodation -

So far, if you follow up and do your simple arithmetic it will be easy to suffice from the above that:

i. A total of =N5, 677,195
ii. Out of that amt 39.56% (=N2,246,195)was mgt sponsored project/programs; 0.88% ( =N50, 000) from external support( indomie); 40.44% (=3,381,000) came from Union dues
iii. From the allocation that came from the Union dues, =N2,031,000 went to the servicing of Executive arm while =N1,350,000 went for servicing of the Parliamentary Arms.

I would like to conclude that those who find it easy to point at the speck in ones eye but can't see the Adelabu mountain in theirs should continue. Some have earned a bad name and have consciously or unconsciously sworn to take others and the Union with them, I pity your descendants. Keep it up.

Those who have no bearing of their own and are manipulated left right and centre, continue.

But those who have sincere love for our Union, please wake up, demand for the info before you. Dig into it - investigate and if anyone is found wanting do not hesitate publish your findings in, not only social media but as well as every notice board in University of Abuja.
