You're actually correct. It's when you're done uploading the documents that you officially join the waiting list.

While you're still uploading, you'll be able to see the current waiting time, but you won't be part of the list until you're done uploading.

That was why I felt it's actually wrong to blame the waiting period on Nigerians "collecting space" cos you cannot really join the waiting list till you're done uploading all necessary documents.

The emphasis isn't on the self employment but on the sector... i.e. informal sector.

How many bricklayers, painters, manual labourers would you ask to pay taxes in Nigeria when there are no regulations‽ Besides a lot of those in the informal sector still pay taxes by way of market levies and local government dues, those are also also types of taxes.

True... I think they already have more industries than any other state in Nigeria apart from Lagos. Besides they have the highest number of universities.

Majority of Nigerians are self-employed people who only depend on their daily work to eat. Most people don't work in the formal sector, so how would they be taxed?

Most of those who have access to go to UK are already paying taxes in Nigeria.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to spend the money training their youths and eradicating poverty instead? These are poor people who aren't even financially equipped to marry each other and definitely can't sustain a family... Does the government also plan to help them feed their kids?

Personally, I can't give you a particular estimate, but make sure you do the following before returning home:

- Gather as much funds as possible, enough to start a small or medium sized business.
- Try to build a house, even if it's just a 3-bedroom bungalow somewhere in or close to your desired city. Trust me, you don't wanna deal with tenants, house agents and landlords in Nigeria...
- Approach the move prayerfully and do your research.

Also, don't be quick let go of anything that can help you resettle in the UK in case of any issues back home, things such as your residence permit, connections, relationships etc. There's a possibility that you might want to return after a few months back home, so be careful.

It's normal to send kids on errands, this has nothing to do with being a minor. A 13 or 14 year old child in SS1 is a minor but he's old enough to run simple errands like buying fuel. May we not give birth to imbeciles...

There's literally nobody that sees being a single father as "cool". A lot of single fathers also face discrimination cos most single women prefer men without kids and baby mama drama.

I admit women face more discrimination in this case because of their biology, but at the end of the day, it goes both ways.
