The unprovoked attack came on the heels of last week commendation given the two countries for their peaceful coexistence after few years of signing the green tree agreement by the United Nation. |
Jealous Cameroonian soldiers are killing us hardowrking efiks who come to bakassi after we make successful trading activities. we willl continue to succeed no matter the jealousy or hate. frequent clashes between Nigerians and Cameroonians has hindered the development of the Bakassi. since we will contine to fight I think the both countries will rather see bakassi still as a mangroove swamp than being developed. |
The lawmaker representing Okobo Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State Assembly, Chief Efefiong Antigha, has called on Federal Government to show more concern over the plight of Nigerians who are being murdered by Cameroonian soldiers. Antigha, who made the call yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo, the state capital, said the Cameroonian government had breached the Green Tree Accord by killing and imposing outrageous taxes on hapless Nigerians who venture into their waters. The lawmaker berated the Federal Government for insensitivity over the ordeal of Nigerians brutally murdered on daily basis by the Cameroonian solders, and called on it to halt this act of provocation forthwith. “There is nothing Nigerian Government has done to ameliorate the sufferings of Bakassi returnees, who have passed through sufferings, in the hands of Cameroonian gendarmes. “It’s man’s inhumanity to man. The gendarmes seize and sometimes destroy the finishing nets of our people, rape our women and make our people pay outrageous taxes against the Green Tree Agreement that the two countries should live together with the protection of each country’s citizens and be taxed minimally,” Antigha averred. The lawmaker also urged the United Nations to call the Cameroonian government to order and prevail on it to respect the treaty facilitated by the world body. |
