Most Nigerian men feel they are the price. Unfortunately, most men are actually a burden and have nothing to offer other than their overbloated ego. I know a woman who had 2 kids and went on to birth two more after her husband lost her job. In her words: "So, I shouldn't give birth because my husband is jobless?" Guess what? She later lost her husband and was left with the burden of taking care of 4 kids instead of two.

In Nigeria, people are living in abject poverty not because they are poor per se, but because their income cannot cater for the number of kids they have. An average Nigerian family can live comfortably if they have lesser number of kids, but couple will prefer to have 7 children knowing full well that their income can only cater for 1 kid.

The people who coined the mantra that 'poverty is a disease', knew exactly what they were saying. Poverty affects all sense of reasoning and cause people to think with their private parts rather than use their brains.
