Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has banned preaching in markets, imposing a ₦500,000 fine on those who use loudspeakers to preach in public places like marketplaces. According to Soludo, such preaching causes noise pollution and disturbs residents.

Soludo emphasized that marketplaces are not churches and that preachers should go to their respective churches to spread their message. He also warned that the government will not allow anyone to take over public spaces and turn them into churches.

This ban is part of Soludo's efforts to crack down on noise pollution and maintain order in public spaces. He has also vowed to tackle fake pastors and prophets in the state.

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday congratulated former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo on his 68th birthday, commending his achievements, including his role as acting president, among others.

The erudite professor was Vice President of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023.

Tinubu conveyed his felicitations through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
