Are you thinking of owning a blog but you have no idea where or how to start? You are not alone in this dilemma because that is the story of most bloggers when they started, myself inclusive. Before i started my first bog, I was just as clueless and at that time, there were not much information available to me as there are today. So, you have a good head start.

So, let’s kick of immediately. Here’s how i started my first blog a few years ago.

The 6 steps to start a blog

1. Decide on a Blogging Niche
2. Choose a Domain Name
4. Find a Domain & Hosting Platform
5. Choose a Blogging Platform
6. Pick a Theme.
7. Design and Make changes to your Blog
8. Create Unique Content

Switching to HTTPS seems to affect traffic adversely, questechie.com traffic was down 50% since migrating and guess the slow indexing by Google could be blamed.
It's possible that you lost some links when you moved from HTTP to HTTPS. make sure you change every link that's pointing to HTTP to HTTPS instead.

How much does it cost? Does it require yearly renewal?
Yes, you renew yearly. You can get it from namecheap.

Webmasters / Youtube Monetization Ban: Let's Help Each Other by Webgritty: 4:42pm On Jan 17, 2018
I'm sure many of you may have heard about the fact that starting from February, if you don't have 1000 subscribers ad at least 4000 minutes of watch time, you will not be eligible to monetize your youtube videos.

Harsh right?

I have canvassed the web and many people are complaining of this new draconian law by Youtube and some have given up. But i say, it's not over until it's over.

I think those of us on Nairaland and the Nigerian internet space can help each other by SUBSCRIBING to each other's channel.

All you have to do is leave a link to your Youtube channel and people on this thread will like. Let's hope it takes us to the desired 1000 subscribers.

Ok, Let me start, Here's mine:

Please, Mynd44 and Lalasticla, let's take this to the front page so that other content creators can join in.

Yeah. Facebook Instant messages. It has codes you'd put the HTML section just like AdSense codes. I've not earned from it though.
Wow. Then it must be new because i've never heard of it before.

Google is just doing whatever they feel is right. No respect to their publishers. How can you get 0.1$ per click on AdSense? What is that? Slavery? I think it's time to focus on Facebook Instant Message adverts.
Does Facebook pay?

Like someone rightly pointed out, the green color you used for your website is horrible especially on the letters. Try and get a befitting template and start from there.

If you know what you are doing, getting a 1K sub won't be your issue. Just keep working hard. Trust me, once you reach that point and your channel is approve, you can be sure that you'll start making some income straight ahead.

For people whose channels are niche inspired, it's harder to get a lot of followers.

I think the advantage of this is that it will make a lot of youtubers to sit up. No more ten ten kobo earnings.

Webmasters / Youtube Bans Some Channels From Making Money On Their Channel by Webgritty: 10:10am On Jan 17, 2018
According to reports, YouTube will no longer allow certain channels to monetize their content. YouTube will only allow people who have at least 1000 subscribers to be able to monetize their videos.

Youtube has announced that in a bid to protect the Youtube ecosystem and stabilizing the revenue, it has decided to out in more stringent measures to make sure spammers, impersonators, and other bad actors can’t hurt our ecosystem.

So, starting from the 16th of January 2018, only channels with at least 4000 hours of watch time within the last 12 months and at least 1000 subscribers will be eligible for monetization. So, content creators who fall short of this requirement are given until February 20th, 2018 to meet the requirements or be prevented from the YPP.
