Just last month they opened the doors of their luxury Malibu home and happily posed for an intimate family photo shoot. But Hollywood power couple Will Smith, 42, and wife Jade Pinkett-Smith's seemingly picture perfect marriage has now come to a shock end, according to a new report. The pair, who have been married for 13 years, are said to have decided to call it quits, according to America's In Touch Weekly magazine. They have two children together - Jaden, 13, and Willow, ten. They certainly gave no hint of trouble during their interview with Architectural Digest magazine only weeks ago. When describing the layout of the 25,000sq ft house, Smith gushed that it had been designed with no 'dead ends… to create an infinite cycle that represented what Jada and I hoped for our love'. Jada, 39, also told the magazine: 'For Will and me this home was always a spiritual endeavour. 'We’re very earthy, organic people. We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land.' She continued: 'Whatever it becomes, the craftsmanship will always represent our union and the love of our family.' This will be the second marriage to end for Smith, who divorced former fashion design student Sheree Zampino in 1995 after three years together. They have a son, Willard Christopher Smith, also known as Trey, who is now 18. He famously dedicated his 1998 single, Just the Two of Us, to Trey. Lyrics included: 'It didn't work out with me and your mom/But yo, push come to shove/You was conceived in love.' After his first divorce, Smith found comfort in Jada, whom he had first met in 1990 when she auditioned and was rejected for the role of his girlfriend on his hit TV show, The Fresh Prince. In 1997, they married in a lavish ceremony at a mansion near her hometown of Baltimore in front 100 friends and family. Smith is one of the biggest film stars in Hollywood, with his blockbuster hits including Independence Day, I, Robot, Hitch, I Am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness and I Am Legend. He recently began filming the third instalment of his hit franchise, Men In Black. Jada, who enjoyed success with her acting career early on, recently spoke of her decision to sacrifice her singing aspirations for the sake of her family. In an interview with the August issue of Redbook magazine she claimed she even turned down a chance to perform with Guns & Roses to support her children's budding careers. 'It was excruciating, completely excruciating,' Jada said of her decision. 'When Jaden was auditioning for The Pursuit of Happyness, my band had just gotten an offer to open for Guns N’ Roses in Europe.' 'For me, that was unbelievable. But the choice was: I could be a rock star, or I could be on the set with my son to make sure he was healthy and happy. We all know how that story ended!' Jada admitted she would rather be performing but she knows that her duty is to her children. 'I had to make choices. Believe me, I would still be on the road with my band, Wicked Wisdom, and making as many movies as I can a year, and doing all sorts of other things if I didn't have the responsibility of a family.' 'But I have children with their own talents and dreams, and I know I have to be standing next to them for that journey.' |

Nigeria’s dwindling fortune in the agricultural sector has confined her to a net importer of agricultural produce with over $4.2billion expended annually on the importation of agricultural produce for local consumption. The Group Managing Director of Oceanic Bank International Plc, Mr. John Aboh, made the disclosure in a lecture he delivered at the Private Sector Lectures Series of the Faculty of Management Sciences of the Benue State University in Makurdi. Aboh said it was unfortunate that as an emerging nation Nigerian had asserted its dominance in global agricultural market but inadvertently lost that position in the 1960s to less endowed nations. He said: “Since the 1960s, Nigeria has lost its dominant position in export of key crops such as palm oil, ground nut and cocoa in which the country controlled 60, 30 and 15 per cent of global exports respectively in the 1960s. “By the 2000s, Nigeria’s global share of exports of these crops was five per cent or less; today, Nigeria is a net importer of agricultural produce with imports (including wheat, fish, rice, sugar and others) totalling USD4.2billion.” He however noted that the Nigeria could still reclaim that enviable position through well laid out plans, premised on domestic financial institutions to drive the real sector growth of the economy. The managing director noted that emerging economies like China adopted the strategy and it worked advising that Nigerian banks should not be an exception if the country wished to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. He emphasised that with the reforms in the banking sector, Nigerian banks have been geared up to bolster the nation’s recovery efforts and also to ensure availability of financing and access to funds in order to better serve the agricultural sector. He said: “Maintaining a safe and sound banking sector is central to economic development, given the significant role that the financial system could play in facilitating growth and financing developmental projects, particularly essential infrastructure and agriculture. “The banking reforms are aimed at strengthening the financial system to prepare it to play its proper role in the growth of the real sector of the economy. This will ultimately result in substantial benefits to entrepreneurs in the private sector who are prepared to observe the financial discipline inherent in accessing credit from banks. ” |
Lil Wayne rapped on stolen property -- at least according to another MC, who insists he's the rightful owner of the beat behind Weezy's "How to Love" , and now, he's out for some legal vengeance. Rapper Rich Rick (right) filed the lawsuit earlier this week in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming he purchased several master recordings between 2006 and 2009 -- including the beat that now appears on "How to Love" -- from a group of rap producers called Drummer Boyz. Rick claims the Drummer Boyz double-crossed him in November 2010 -- pitching the SAME beat to Lil Wayne , and Weezy acquired it in exchange for a 35% royalty agreement, eventually using the beat on "How to Love." The song's a hit -- and needless to say, Rick's royally pissed , insisting the Drummer Boyz screwed him over. Rick's suing Weezy, the Drummer Boyz, and others for everything from breach of contract to fraud -- demanding everything DB are entitled to under their agreement with Wayne , plus 10% interest. |
Since her house arrest ended last month after 35 days, Lindsay Lohan has certainly been making the most of her freedom, pictured at various Hollywood nightclubs in recent weeks. But the 25-year-old star opted for one of the biggest events of the year, namely Kim Kardashian's wedding, to make her official red-carpet comeback on the Los Angeles social scene. And while Lohan was competing for attention against the bride herself, as well as celebrity guests such as Eva Longoria and Demi Lovato, the actress ensured she nearly stole the show by wearing a plunging white dress for the occasion. Lohan teamed the Temperley gown - first seen on Pippa Middleton - with a chic up 'do, sky-high heels and diamond jewellery. Pippa wore an emerald green version of the dress to the evening party after Prince William's marriage to her sister Kate. The Mean Girls star, who had attended Kim's bridal shower earlier this month, was accompanied by her mother Dina and sister Ali - who are all close family friends of the Kardashians. More pictures as you read on, But while Lohan succeeded in looking stylish and elegant at the start of the evening, it was a different story when it was time for guests to leave. The actress, whose platinum blonde hair complemented her white dress, struggled to keep her eyes open as she was driven home by her chauffeur at the end of the evening. Alongside her new-found party pals, former Spice Girls star Mel B and her husband Stephen Belafonte, Lohan closed her eyes and tried to block out the noise from the back of the car, where Mel was sitting with Dina and Ali. Lohan had earlier tweeted: 'Getting my "hair did" for my friends big wedding today, can't wait. 'I know i'm gonna cry of happiness for her, yippee!!' Lohan had arrived for the nuptials in Santa Barbara, California, early on Saturday morning after waiting for her mother to arrive on a flight from New York City. |
