What is a differential in FPL? A differential is a player that has potential for high returns but few people have selected such player in their teams.

Why pick a differential? Most people would rather pick a certified returns player eg Kane, but odds are if you get your differential right, your team value can increase by £1 after a few gameweeks because people would have noticed that differential player.

Obviously, players like Harry Kane (28.4%), Calvert Lewin (27%), Watkins (36.2%) are not differentials. They have been selected by many in the game and don't have much room for their values to increase.

Wilson £7.5
4.9% have selected him in their squads and he scored 12 goals last season. For comparison, Antonio had 10 goals and is in 13.2% of squads. Both cost £7.5. The choice is yours.

Jesus £8.5
Only 3.5% have selected the only striker for the most lethal team in the league. Wow. Shocking. Bonkers.
Maybe it's Pep's roulette, the false 9 formation? But this is the cheapest the Brazilian has ever been in the game and you should take advantage of it.

Aubameyang £10.0
Selected by only 3.6% of the players. Yeah, Aubameyang didn't have his best season during the previous campaign, but without the distraction of European football for Arsenal and their easy run of games, one should consider having the Gabonese hitman on their radar at least.

Use two £4.5 goalkeepers
Lol. This one seems controversial but hear me out. There's no need getting the premium goalkeepers into your team. The premium goalkeepers would bring points for cleansheets and that's where the list stops.

Budget goalkeepers would bring the occasional cleansheets, points for saves made, man of the match awards.

Last season, 2 of the top 3 goalkeepers, Martinez and Meslier, started at £4.5. Another positive is that the ended up increasing the owner's team value by up to £1. Another plus side is that the extra cash saved by investing in budget goalkeepers would be used where it really matters.

Avoid centre backs and defensive mids
With the game focused more on attacking returns, the obvious plan is to focus on more attack minded players.

That is, avoid Kante, Ndidi, Rice, Maguire. These players can be good in a double gameweek or when the chips are in play. When the chips are down, focus on attacking midfielders and full backs.
