URGENT REPLY PLEASE
am trying to apply for masters in university of cape town which deadline is 31st October but my transcript which I requested since July only sent to me today..
MY QUESTION
1. must I sent the transcript to UCT before the 31st which is next week or should I just apply online with it and send it which I know that it can't get to the school before the 31st
2. is there any other school that is close to cape town which their application is still on for me to meet up
You dont have to send your transcript by mail to UCT. Certify it and upload it on your application page. All UCT admission application is online including documentation. Yes other school close to cape town are UWC,CPUT.

Hello Everyone,

Please help!!! I did my honours and Masters full time in SA. I'm doing my PhD now. I have the proof that my discipline is on the critical scarce skill list. I made an attempt to complete an online application for PR (extra ordinary skill). By the list I got the list of required documents, "a valid critical skill visa" is among. My existing visa is "study visa", I have never applied for critical skill. Please, would you advise that I proceed with the PR application? If I'm to change the application to critical skill visa application (by change of condition in the existing visa), will that not lead to the cancellation of my current study visa which I might use to register with the university next year? Please help me. God bless!
For you to apply for PR under extra ordinary skill, you will need evidence of Critical Skill Visa as a requirement. Firstly you need to apply for Critical Skill Visa and later apply for PR. Critical Skill Visa allows you to study only on part time basis. Not necessarily a cancellation of your study visa but my advise is for you to complete your studies before you change conditions on your visa or apply for new Critical skill visa.

Please do it yourself, you don't need an agent. You can budget between 250k - 350k, to cover SAQA evaluation, Membership of professional body, Visa application fees, Critical skill assessment by professional body. etc.

Direct residence permits
This category of permit is applicable to foreigners who have been residing in South Africa on the basis of their work permits for a minimum period of five years, their spouses and also to dependents of South African citizens/permanent residence permit holders.
To apply for a direct residency permit you need to complete Form BI-947.
Residency-on-other-grounds permits
This category of permits applies to foreigners who:
are in possession of a permanent work offer in South Africa, or
have exceptional skills and qualifications
intend to establish a business in South Africa
qualify as Refugees in terms of Section 27(c) of the Refugees Act
qualify as retired persons
are financially independent
are relatives (biologically or judicially adopted) of a South African citizen/permanent residence permit holder
You can apply for all Permanent Residency Permits at the Department of Home Affairs, at the nearest office in the South African province in which you intend to live and work. Alternatively, if you are based overseas, you can apply at your nearest South African embassy, mission or cunsulate in the country in which you live.

welf99, thanks for your response on the other thread. I think this thread addresses my concerns.

What do I need as a professional to be able to get into South Africa.

Regards.
the first step is to check above post if your skill is listed as critical skill. once you confirm that the next step is SAQA evaluation.

thanks for your response. firstly, I don't ever leave money on my salary account because its a current account, I have two other savings account that I run which I save on, two days to the day of submission, I printed the statements of all my accounts but a colleague in the office said I do not need that and that all I need do was to transfer to my salary account cos all they need is an affirmation that I have a steady job. that was why I transfered to my salary account and printed. I never reasoned along your line until now and I feel the need to prove my point because this now means more than a denial. please I'll like to be guided, should I print all the statements of the accounts I have without moving any money? what are the processes of an appeal. thanks for your very important points and I anticipate your response.
Yes print all your statements of accounts, stamped and signed including the one questioned. if you can get a letter from your bank branch to confirm that the specific account is a salary account and it is yours. submit all of them including all the previous documents in support of your application. Also write a letter to clarify to the embassy and attach proves...the bank letter and statements. you will be fine at the end.

Hello guys,

Good Job.

Kindly put me through the process of getting a working visa in SA. I am an IT personnel with up to 5 years experience in Application Development.

I want to establish a task network in Africa, I am moving to SA to commence this.

Regards.
firstly, you need take some time and review relevant pages and find answers to your queries. as an IT personnel you can also look it up online. if you don't understand any of the info..you can come here and ask specific question as it relates.
secondly i need to understand what you mean by task network...and how you intend to "commence" in SA. after we can dig further and see your options.

Thanks, yes I applied in Lagos. But if I have to pay again, whats the point of telling me to apply again withing 10 working days? certainly, this people don't confirm account statements... I'll just look for another country to spend my annual leave rather than paying again for embassy that doesn't check statements thoroughly. It would have been understandable if it was denied based on other grounds. I really appreciate your response.
your post above suggest that you don't have money in your account and you hurriedly deposit 450k because of the visa application irrespective if its a salary account. the embassy does not need to confirm your bank statement again before denial! because that action is questionable. giving you 10 working days to reapply is just to confirm their suspicion that you are not a genuine visitor! because the money you claim in your account is not your own and you won't reapply.

Hello everyone, I got denied for a visiting VISA today with the excuse that I did not attach my wife study permit which I actually did. I got a supporting invitation letter from University of Cape Town, her own invitation letter. Also attached were her proof of studentship and accommodation address. The University even quoted her passport and study permit number on the invitation letter.
Am wondering if vfs misplaced the study permit because am 100% sure it was included.
I also want to know if I can reapply immediately.
reapply immediately...include a letter in your application explaining the error of judgement by highlighting the study permit, attach it to the letter or staple together. Also in your letter of introduction draw up a table to show all attached documents in support of your application. on each of your supporting document put the figure on it.

Thanks welf99. Can I use wakanow, they claim to a proxy for the hotel. They say they have verifiable bookings. But your reply is specific. Can you advise?
My advise is you book directly with an hotel in SA. don't use proxy. This can be done online with your card and obtain a verifiable booking.

I got my passport back today nd was denied " document lack credibility nd unconvincing... this is the second time.. what can I do again.. it seems my agent don't know much abt this sef. Am tired
Stop using agent. do it yourself. You also need to prove to the embassy that your previous documents submitted are genuine and credible. The burden of prove is on you for any future applications. However if you don't have the requirements for the category of visa sought for, it is better you consider not applying till you can confidently meet the requirements yourself.

Hello everyone.
please I need someone to guide me. I have Bsc Mathematics Education and I wish to apply for Masters in University of cape town
(1). I have excellent skills in teaching Mathematics. can I get teaching job easily in SA as a masters student or am I only stand the chance to get teaching work after my masters
(2). Do I go for masters of Mathematics Education or Masters of mathematics science (I dream to continue my education and teaching until I get to professor level).. which one should I apply for
(3). University of cape town stated that one will apply with English proficient certificate (IELTS or TOEFL). as a Nigerian whom have spent at least 18years in Educational system with English as the medium of instruction. do I still need TOEFL or do I have alternative.
THANKS AS I LOOK FORWARD FOR YOUR REPLY
Hello..Mathematics is one of the STEM subjects that is critical in South Africa, your chances of Job prospects is high but you must join relevant professional bodies as a teacher to enable you practice and better job prospects. Apply to more than One university for your masters in any of the mathematical fields you mention either by research or coursework and thesis for better result. UCT does not require TOEFL if your medium of instruction is English. Your transcript and secondary school certificate already supoort this.

Can you please assist me?
.
Teaching jobs are available in South Africa, but critical in the STEM field. but for you to practice as a teacher in SA you need to Join relevant professional bodies in your field and also get certified by them, you need SAQA and working permit. Getting a teaching job is not the first step and no employer will be willing to employ where these basics.

firstly, you need to apply for SAQA by sending your academic documents for evaluation.

you need to join an association in your chosen field and apply for membership and skill confirmation.

you need to prove 5 years work experience in your profession.
