A lot of factors may cause the delay in a project.

In my own experience, sometimes the issue may be from the client brief.

In some instances the client may want something and the developer is thinking something else.

It also lies in the experience of the developer.

And the very common was is issue with 3rd party integrations. I once tried to integrate a 3rd party mobile payment sdk and it took me more than 3 days. Ordinarily it would not take me more than a few hours but the documentation for the SDK was very brief and the sdk itself was buggy.

Anyway i am available for outsourcing (IOS,Android,Windows)
Which was why we took time to document what we wanted, with screenshots. The communication was clear enough, even for a budding developer. I was once a web developer. In fact at some point I had to wonder if they actually read the documentation because we had to keep repeating what was clearly stated there.

If I reconsider, I'll contact you.

Thanks

@op, I get your point but truly it depends on the project agreement and some project can be a little bit of an hassle and as such, a programmer or a developer is still open on learning new things during project execution, no man Is am island of knowledge
Trust me, I'll perfectly understand if this was the case.

But 5 months?
Epileptic communication.
Transferring blame to the person he gave part of the job.
Even he had to admit severally that he had messed up. But why not make up for it by delivering on the project. Up till now, reaching him on phone is often uncertain.
Now he keeps reminding me that he has a lot of things to do. Even went to the extent of sending a number of someone he gave part of the project for me to deal with him directly.

It's all unprofessional.

But 5 months?

It depends on what you were building. And you didn't say how much you paid this developer.

If you are thinking of looking for a software firm, just know that they still outsource projects they can't handle to external developers.

It all lies on meeting the right and level headed person to do business with - period.

If you need my services contact: 07014312741
We created and sent a more than detailed documentation of the app before negotiation.
Note that my partner and I were web developers before we decided to focus on building a business.
It had nothing to do with how much paid. The price was very reasonable, and we didn't do any hard negotiation to arrive at the price.

As for the firm outsourcing, I don't have a problem with that as long as they deliver a good job and on time.

Thanks

try out sci.ng. You shouldn't be disappointed
I checked them out. They offer training in software development. From the website of their parent company, which offers software services, I don't see any service for app development though.
ProgrammingWhy I Will Not Hire A One-man Developer Again by whaithee(op): 9:18am On Mar 06, 2017
I have resolved not to hire the service of a one-man developer. By one-man, I don't necessarily mean one person doing the entire development. He may have other developers he delegates part of the job to. But as long as it's not a structured organization, I'm not interested.

After wasting close to 5 months for a project that was supposed to last for one month (at most 6 weeks), I'm yet to get a final product.

Communication has been horrible.

Despite that I had to go out of my way to pay him a second installment, which was not part of the agreement, just to make sure the project goes on.

I know there are exceptions. There are respectable and reputable developers out there, but I don't have the luxury of trying again. I'll rather deal with a company with a physical presence and structure.

If you know any good App development company to develop Android and iOS apps, please recommend.

Thank you.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do You Go To Church (Options) ? by whaithee(m): 12:36pm On Sep 16, 2012
ifeness: Pathetic!!! I couldn't help but laugh out very loud. You kept talking about God as if it were real. You need to drink a chilled glass of beer and sleep.
If you like believe in God. If you like don't. Whatever you or any of your Atheist friends believe will not change the irrevocable truth that there is an Almighty God, the creator of Heaven and Earth. And that Jesus Christ is the the Son of God. I don't believe in God because my parents wants me to or because the church teaches so.

I've seen both sides, even that life you think is the way to go. I believe absolutely in God and in Jesus Christ because of 'my personal encounter' with Him.
Guy-man, if you claim to be a free-thinker, you should be stubborn enough to search out the truth.

@Poster

I'm not one to be seen in church all week long. But I go to church for the spirirual exualtation that comes with worshiping God in a congregation.

EducationRe: Whats Your Thought On Vocational Education In Nigeria? by whaithee(op): 1:17pm On Mar 14, 2012
Dis Guy: but then again there's no standard, even with vocational education

it's not being supported by industry, the curriculum is mostly down to the Oga, there's no minimum skill set to be met by the apprentice
Notwithstanding, there are privately funded VET schools with equipped training centers, though they are often more expensive but not as 4 to 5years in higher institution.
EducationWhats Your Thought On Vocational Education In Nigeria? by whaithee(op): 2:58pm On Feb 26, 2012
It really gives me concern seeing Nigerian graduates roaming the street in search of white-collar jobs that are not even there. Now see how bank workers are retrenched lately.
It's unfortunate how we've bought over the idea of traditional learning as the only acceptable form of education. Countries like Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Scandinavian and most other developed countries hold vocational education on high esteem. But here in Nigeria Vocational training is rated as second class.
What do you think of the state of vocational education in Nigeria?
EducationRe: We Need Vocational Secondary Schools In Nigeria. by whaithee(m): 2:39pm On Feb 26, 2012
I found this thread from Google while researching on vocational education in Nigeria. It really gives me the concern when I see Nigerian graduates roaming the street in search of white-collar jobs that are not even there.
I don't think vocational education should be limited to secondary schools. We need vocational schools for graduates or just anyone to register and learn a skill. We have such aviation, nursing, welding, computer, internet, telecom schools etc but there is the need for more such self empowering institutions.
It's unfortunate how we've bought over the idea of traditional education as the only acceptable form of education. Nigerian graduates should also start thinking for themselves. I'm grateful to God to come from a family where everyone is good with the hands, vocational school or not, which helped me to drop my certificate as a petroleum engineer and get handy.
Switzerland, Germany, Denmark hold vocational education on high esteem,
LiteratureRe: What Is Your Purpose For Blogging? by whaithee(m): 8:16pm On Sep 10, 2011
Well taken Myne.
I was lucky to figure this out early in my blogging career (2008). It's all about knowing who you are blogging for and the best method to monetize your blog with such audience (that is if you intend to make money of your blog). I've been doing pretty fine with adsense on my main blog which is clearly focused, and out of demand will be introducing a service for my audience soon.
So to answer your question,"What is your Purpose for Blogging?" I'm blogging to add some value to a defined audience and make "Full Time Income" doing it.
