givedemwotowoto:
Lagos indigenes have said they don’t have a problem with Igbos, but they do have a problem with people from neighboring states claiming Lagos to be theirs and trying to sideline the indigenes and determine who stays in Lagos.

As in, Lagosians were accommodating enough to attract people from all over the country and beyond, but some people who also moved to Lagos from neighboring states are now claiming Lagos and scaring away other dwellers with their obnoxious behaviors

I didn’t make this up. It’s on the news

It is not about Lagosians being accommodating.

It is simply the outcome of making any location the country's capital.
Same thing is happening in Abuja. The indigenes are there and welcome people from every part of the country.

If Enugu, Kogi, Jigawa or any State becomes the capital tomorrow, the indigenes have no choice than to welcome everyone else.

It is what it is. Not a divine trait of Lagosians

You know what's peculiar?

Make same comment about Lagos to a Yoruba man, and he'll go into an epileptic fit.

Good to see you're female. It is usually the woman who decides (and gives final authority grin) on employing a maid (househelp in Naija parlance)

I am against it as well, but madam insisted she needed one.
My mind "no touch ground" after she finally got one. I'm always scared she might harm my kids.
Until mother in-law visited and she found pins in the food the maid served her! grin

No way two small pins could have gotten into the food by mistake.
Madam promptly fired her, and we have been living in some peace since then!

Obviously not.

Otherwise, you won't describe a hotel that has barely commenced full service, even though is new, has a five star rating.

There is NO single five star hotel in Nigeria. People may say a certain hotel in the country is five star because it looks cool, but none has such rating yet. Most of the top hotels in Naija are rated 3 stars at most.

Does this make sense?

When you realize these houses have approved building plans, registered survey plans and have been paying land use charge to LASG, why won't they claim victimization if govt demolish their houses?

It is same govt officials that are complicit in these shady approvals in the first place. That is what makes it painful.

I avoided lots of buildings located near drainages when I wanted to rent or buy.

How does this even sound?

If no Uni form the SE has come out to debunk this, isnt it more sane to assume these guys are stating the truth?

Like say all the people wey dey work with the NELFUND na even Non-Igbos

Rest and keep your Owerri logic to your whatsapp group

You are 100% right.
This should be the line of thought we should toe in this case.

However...

Nigeria has made all of us victims.
Only the wrong thing happen here, mostly.
We have been exposed to, and moulded by the bizarreness and abnormal entity called Nigeria, so it is hard to take a neutral or sane position when situations like this happen.

What's more scary is, it often turns out that those who have taken the default position of never trusting the words of government agencies turn out to be correct most of the time.

Sigh!

We have better incidents here.

We got terror groups kidnapping bus loads of travellers, or hundreds of school kids. Many of the victims end up raped, butchered and sold for organ trafficking or as sëx släves.
We got suicide bombers detonating their IEDs in crowded places like markets and bus parks.

A lone individual attacking and stabbing people is a kindergarten move, and we are scared of that!

Health / Re: Please Help Me. My Daughter Eyes Are Misaligned. Can It Be Cured? by whirlwind7(m): 2:25pm On Aug 09
OKOATA:
It's called Exotropia. Cover the good eye with a pirate patch. The one Ruger the musical artist use, leave the nonaligned one eye to function. Do it like every 2hrs for the day and the non-aligned eye will realign till it's ok. Do it consistently and you will see changes.

*Covering the good eye forces the brain to rely on the weak eye, which can help improve its vision and alignment. This is a common technique used in vision therapy to treat Exotropia and other eye alignment issues.

So the best time to start is now because if she reaches 10yrs old it might be difficult. It's best from ages of 5-10yrs. Thanks.

Thanks for that tip.

However, depending on the direction of deviation (she didn't mention) it could be either exotropia (outwards) or esotropia (inwards)

Patching alone can't solve the problem. Correcting the refractive error of the deviating eye via glasses MUST be done as well.

Gift150:

This is a big relief to me. I'll try this out. Thank you

That advice by OKOATA is the best (non surgical) you might try at this time.
However, IT WILL NOT BE ENOUGH!

Reason?
Because she is 7 years old already.
At this age, most deviations are nearly permanent if untreated.

Now, as someone who is experienced on this, here's what you need to do ASAP: take her to an eye clinic.
Request that a CYCLOPLEGIC REFRACTION be done on her.
It is a process where a certain eyedrop (1% cyclopentolate) is applied to both eyes, and then a test for glasses is done after about 30 to 40 minutes after 3 doses of the eyedrop has been applied to her eyes.
This will give the result of the glasses she will need to use.
After about 3 or more days later, the effect of the eye drops (blurred vision) will have worn out, and you take the child back to the eye clinic for a post-cycloplegic test.

A good optometrist knows how to handle this. Your child will be prescribed the glasses that gives the best correction for her eyes, and she MUST wear the glasses everyday.
You also need to patch or cover the good eye about 2 hours everyday (A MUST!!!) so that the weak and deviated eye will be forced to work harder and become straight.

I must also say your hubby is careless and/or ignorant. He had same issue, and should have at least researched the cause of it. The moment it was noticed on your child, he would have sought for medical intervention immediately.

What causes it is that one eye (the deviated one) is weak and does not see as good as the other eye. Because it is not properly aligned, it causes double vision. In other to see better, your child subconsciously suppresses it. As time goes by, the eye gets weaker and becomes redundant...and gets more deviated.

Wish you and your child the best 🙏

This is laughable.

₦165,000 per M²
Means for a standard sized plot, I have to pay upwards of ₦100m

This, just for a piece of land without basic facilities.
Not central sewage, not pipe borne water, not an assurance of stable electricity...

Why wouldn't many resort to crime there?

I know the blame isn't on the real estate coy trying to sell. The blame is on a country without direction, or foundation or a bankable future.

Meanwhile, the term "free from govt acquisition" has lost every meaning in Naija, especially in Lagos.

That is a huge difference.
Once you move out from where you are living, dump your mattress, sofa, other furnitures that bedbugs hide in, and get new stuff for your new apartment, you've most probably gotten rid of bedbugs.

First of all, you’re an illiterate.

You wrote $59,490,710 which is Fifty Nine Million, Four Hundred And Ninety Thousand, Seven Hundred And Ten Dollars.

Do you know the meaning of the amount of money you wrote up there?

To explain it gently to you, so that your Akpu & Ogbono Soup fermented brain can assimilate it;

$10,000,000 (Ten Million Dollars) = Approximately 16 Billion Naira.

Now, 59,490,710 (Fifty Nine Million Dollars - which you wrote up there) = 96 Billion Naira.

This is my problem with you people from that region. Like your fellow fraudulent & criminally-minded cohorts at the Nairaland Auto & Property Sections; majority of you no get sense.

You will just slam an outrageous & unrealistic price tag on an “Accidented or Flooded Vehicle” or “Buildings built with substandard materials that are certainly going to collapse within 3 years max” and expect sensible & reasonable Patriots (Like Myself) to patronize you?

Even this useless Property that is being advertised on this thread, Nobody - I repeat, Nobody will buy it for “9 Billion Naira - which is what the dumb marketer is trying to write”.

You build properties with fake & substandard materials and then when they collapse; in your self denial & delusion, you shout DANGOTE CEMENT!

Even if you build your properties with foreign Cement & materials; those properties will still collapse.

My point is - I will rather buy my properties or vehicles from an Hausa/Fulani or my Tribesmen (of course after conducting my due diligence) than to patronize any good-for-nothing hateful & unpatriotic elements, whose only motivation and source of happiness is to bring down others and celebrate their misfortunes.

Are you done? 🤣😁😁🤣

Wake Up, Southeast Nigeria: Silence Isn't Golden When the Country is Sinking

Since the protests began, I've been down in Southeast Nigeria, working and keeping a close eye on the deafening silence from the region.

During a chat with one of the traders, he nonchalantly remarked that the rising cost of commodities didn't bother him—he simply sold at the price he bought. I didn't find that comment amusing at all; it was like watching someone proudly declare they had no idea how basic economics worked. So, I threw in a curveball: "Can you compare the level of patronage?" He went silent, probably regretting his earlier confidence.

Our country is like a sinking ship, and it's going to take all hands on deck to keep it afloat. Whether we like it or not, we're all under the same Nigerian umbrella, and any policy made affects each of us. Demanding a better Nigeria is a cause that excludes no one.

Hats off to those in the Southwest, South, and North who are protesting. Many of them voted for Tinubu, and I'm glad they're now willing to hold him accountable instead of blindly cheering his useless policies.

But to my friends in the Southeast: now is not the time to stay silent. Even if the average South Easterner dreams of Biafra, the leaders representing this region have sold out, making the APC more popular here than anywhere else in the South. In their power quest, Southeast leaders are flocking to the APC en masse.

I urge everyone, regardless of tribe, language, or religion, to come out and demand a better Nigeria. There's a lot at stake.
