Food / Re: Would You Try This Interesting Ghanaian Dish? (picture) by WhiteLavender(f): 9:32am On Aug 06
brain54:
Just this today Sunday I ate cocoyam leaves...

And banku.

Now I have eaten this combination before.(cocoyam leaves and banku) I had my throat scratching me through out the day the first time.

The second time I saw it at a restaurant I ordered it... Because it looked enticing because they added Egusi. I had same effect or result- itchy throat.

Now back to today I was with this person. And she managed to convince me that cocoyam leaves don't cause scratching throat.... According to her maybe it wasn't prepared very well the first and second time I ate ... Hers was different and would not be same.

Ok... Let me try.

So she brings 2 wrapped bankus and... well, some cocoyam leaves mixed with Egusi. Looked really good. Most Ghanian dishes (my opinion) doesn't really look good. This one looks good to go. So I decide inside me... yeah, she is right. Here's is a different mix. Probably home made.

So I dip the banku in the soup and swallow, left for about 2 morsels of banku. But end up with a damn scratchy throat. She ends up consoling me and recommends I get some syrup, or sweet at a pharmacy which I forget the name now. (I didn't get, but OK now.)

Now to your picture... It's just ground pepper and onions in that mix. Maybe a bit of shitoh at the side I see.

I have eaten this mix before and I can tell you it's just bland old peppers. The only thing exciting here will be the fish. That's all.

I personally think Ghanaians just cook and eat just to survive. Not for any form of variety or to make eating interesting. I get bored just thinking of their meals and eating becomes a chore. That is me personally.

Looking at the picture I just think we fantasize about things we don't have or never tried before. That is why the grass is always greener on the other side.

I mean, who would think anyone would ever fantasize about eating peppers and fish? 🤷

Seems very basic!

Nice write-up and spot on too.

Career / Re: Economic Hardship: Workers Swoop On Their Pension Contributions by WhiteLavender(f): 1:29pm On Jun 20
Adebaba1:
Wow
So someone can access pension funds while still working
I thought it is if you are out of job after 2 months
Or you are above 50
No, you cannot. The article says voluntary pension contribution. Some people opt to pay this aside their mandatory pension contribution. So it's this voluntary one they're withdrawing from.
The normal mandatory one is as you described.

PFAs should be paying interest..
Imagine holding someone finds for many years....making use of it without pay interest of a dime and when you want to access your fund it becomes a very long thing..
Ask maina ..
If you check your statement of account, you will see that you are being paid interest. Your money grows there.

Tunjikam:

Voluntary contribution is different from the normal monthly contributory pension deduction.

Don't get it wrong
He is still correct.. the article is talking about voluntary contributions. But with mandate contributions, you can collect 25% after being out of a job for 4months.
He just mistook mandatory for voluntary.

This story no clear.

Thorough investigation is needed to ascertain wether it's a conspiracy or accumulated grievance.

Or maybe, sexual affairs gone wrong
Father and son were fighting the woman's nephew oga 🙄

This story self. So, the father and son abandoned their flight and started attacking the separator or what?
If you read well, you'll see that father and son were fighting the woman's nephew, not themselves.

Opay has no issue at all, just that other commercial banks are afraid of this opay, the banks are even collaborating with all these big fuel stations, supermarket, schools by rejecting the opay card for transactions. Even all these commercial bank staffs are using opay because it is reliable
Exactly. Some ATMs reject the opay card, like Polaris and access bank. Doesn't even make any sense

Pascal9:
record profit from fraudulent charges.is that how to run business?
Don't mind him. The banks don't seem worried but some of their ATMs have been programmed to reject Opay cards.

Creamypie:
Don't take your wife abroad to save your marriage if u really love your wife. In Nigeria, once a man becomes rich, he turns his wife 2 a queen, but once a woman becomes rich, she turns her husband to house boy and slave, why
The reverse was the case in this situation. She brought him over just a year before the incident.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that he's a member of the "team foreign girls"

This guy is a resident of the US not Nigeria and the prospect of dating a black lady is slim compared to the majority white

But somehow he shouldn't have gone for an only fans model could have gone for something better

This is the self hatred I'm talking about why will you call your fellow African "negro"
It seriously oozes of inferiority complex
Well take it or leave justice shall take its full course
You probably didn't follow the news from the begining, hence, you'd understand perfectly well what she's saying. You should check out the guy's story.

Education / Re: Lecturers, Parents Reject Drug Test For Bauchi University Students by WhiteLavender(f): 10:37am On Jan 10
BUSHHUNTER:
1. The parents rejected because of the cost of the toxicology test.

2. They did something similar at the time of admission.

3. The school should conduct the toxicology test if they are serious.

4. Why is the school insisting on external toxicology test reports? knowingly it could be forged?

Na the bone of contention be dis...No be say to do the test.

When most of them refused to read the article, what do you expect?
The reasons parents and lecturers were not in support are clearly spelt out o but see what some commenters are writing.

Please those that went through the documentation process during the last recruitment, was declaration of age accepted?
My birth certificate got lost years ago, so what I have is declaration of age, but Someone is telling me they won't accept it during documentation.
He said I should go and do attestation of birth certificate at NPC instead, but I don't have money for that now.
Hope they'll accept my declaration of age.
Did mine yesterday in Benin, declaration of age was accepted. Go with yours. You can do the NPC later when you're selected.

Nothing of actual substance to add, might as well use all the local/bought titles.

Stop saying rubbish!
Both is still the same when it comes to money.

Lend' means to give something to someone to be used for a period of time and then returned. 'Borrow' means to take and use something that belongs to someone else for a period of time and then return it. The person lending something owns it and is letting someone else use it.
How is what you explained different from that of the person you're replying?
