Now, let's discuss the Basic rules in naming organic compounds:

1. Identify the number of carbon atom present in the molecular structure
For you to know the number of carbon atom in the molecular structure of a given organic compound, you must first draft out the structure from the structural formular that is given to you, but if you are given the molecular structure, skip drawing the structure and just go ahead to count the number of carbon atom present in the compound. Once the number of carbon atom present in the compound is known, you should write it down as follows; if there is 1 number of carbon atom, then you name it met, 2 you name it eth, 3 you name it prop, 4 you name it but, 5 you name it pent, 6 name it hex, 7 name it hept, 8 name it oct, 9 name it non, 10 name it dec.. For example, C-C-C=C-C. This compound has 5 number of carbon atoms, so we name it Pent. Let's go to the next step...
2. Check for unsaturation
If it is an unsaturated organic compound i.e. having double or triple bonds, you'll have to count from the side having lesser number of carbon atom. For example, C-C-C=C-C, you'll have to count from the right to left because counting from the right to left, we have 2 carbon atom but counting from left to right, we have 3 carbon atom, so you must count from the side that has lesser number of carbon atom (which will be counting from right to left). Keep this noted while we move to the next step...

3. Check for functional group
If there is a functional group e.g hydroxyl group(OH), you must count from the last end of carbon atom closest to the functional group. But if there is double or triple bond, do not count from the functional group but from the side that has the lesser number of carbon atom close to the double or triple bond(follow the second step). Also, functional group such as hydroxyl -OH will be abbreviated to give OL which will be added as a suffix while naming the compound.For example C-C-C-C-C-OH will be named pentanol, C-C-C-OH will be named propanol etc.

4. Identify the family or series it belongs to
If it is a single bonded compound, it is an alkane(ane), if it has double bond in it's structure, it is an alkene(ene), if it has triple bond, it is an alkyne(yne). All those abbreviations in the brackets is what must be added as the suffix while naming the compound dpepending on the serie the given compound belongs to. An alkane, "ane" will be added as suffix, alkene "ene" will be added as suffix, alkyne "yne" will be added as suffix. Please take note. For example; C=C-C-C, ene must be added as the suffix while naming this compound because it has a double bond hence, it belongs to the alkene serie.
If the compound has a functional group attached to it, the functional group abbr. will be added to the series abbr. while naming. e.g C-C-C-OH will be named propanol, C-C=C-OH will be named propenol etc.

5. Find the longest carbon chain
This is self explanatory, all you have to do is to count correctly and find the longest carbon chain. Any compound left out of the chain will surely be an alkyl group(CnH2n+1) and must be given reference while naming. Mostly methyl(CH3) and ethyl(C2H5).For example:

Putting it all together
I hope you now know the rules involved in naming organic compounds. So, let's see how everything work while naming an organic compound.
*Count and Find the longest carbon chain.
*Check for functional group and unsaturation.
*Name according as the rules stated above.
*Writng your result- First, write the figure/number on which the functional group falls on for example; if methyl CH3 falls on the third carbon atom, we will write 3 and a dash at its front(3-). Next, write the methyl after the dash sign (3-methyl). Then, write the name for the number of carbon atom e.g prop, eth, meth, but, dec, non, oct etc... so, you should have something like this(3-methyl but), after that, you check if it is saturated or unsaturated/ check for double or triple bond and name it. If it has a double bond you should have this(3-methyl butene). But, if a group like hydroxyl, carbonyl,carboxyl etc is attached to it, you should name it as this (3-methyl butenol, 3-methyl butenone, 3-methyl butenoic).
If it has a single bond, you should have this(3-methyl butane). But, if a group like hydroxyl, carbonyl,carboxyl etc is attached to it, you should name it as this (3-methyl butanol, 3-methyl butanone, 3-methyl butanoic).
Also, we may have two or more alkyl group. For example, we have a methyl group attached to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th carbon atom, the prefix should be named 2,3,4- trimethyl.. using the example above, you should have 2,3,4- trimethyl butanol.

Policy Overview

This program is aimed at providing a platform for saving towards retirement, and assures a regular source of income after retirement suited for self-employed persons or persons who want to augment the income from their company sponsored Retirement Savings Account. A policyholder makes contributions during his/her working life and after retirement has option to collect lump sum or a regular sum of income payable to him/her throughout his/her lifetime (annuity).

The Benefits

1. Attractive interest rates at the Leadway Rate. The Leadway Rate is benchedmark at above the average Nigerian Banks saving rate

Death during Deferred Period: Accumulated value of contributions is payable to the beneficiary(ies) stated in the policy in addition to the life cover purchased (Minimum life cover of #250,000 must be purchased and shall be funded from the account balance), without any hassle of probate processes.
3. Upon retirement, the policyholder has option to convert into a Life annuity at the prevailing annuity rates. A life annuity will pay a regular fixed income to you, throughout your life-time.
4. Death during Annuity Payment Period: Reference will be made to the guaranteed period chosen. Death benefit is the present value of outstanding guaranteed annuities.

The Features

Provided the policy has been in operation for at least 3 years and still in the contribution period.
One partial withdrawal up to 25% of the account balance, but subject to a minimum of #50,000 is allowed within the contribution period.
No partial withdrawals are allowed during annuity payment period. A partial withdrawal is also allowed just before a conversion into annuity at maturity.
Provided the policy has been in operation for at least two years and the policy is still in the contribution period, policyholder will have the option to obtain a loan of a maximum of 70% account balance, at the company's prevailing policy loan interest rate.
Ideally, the policy terms should be chosen in reference to expected retirement age.

Termination during the policy term will attract surrender charges, except this is done within 30 days of policy inception.

How it works

During the deffered period (usually the time from purchase date till retirement)- It operates as a regular savings plan with the interest accrued on a daily basis.
Cost of risk cover (Death, critical illness and accidental permanent & total disability(optional) will be deducted from your account balance on a regular basis.. that is if you opt-in for it).
At the end of deffered period, the saving could be converted into an Annuity with purchase value equivalent to accumulated value of contributions or taken as a lump sum. The annuity rates will be based on the prevailing annuity rates at maturity.
As an illustration, based on current rates, for a life aged 60 years, a purchase value of #3,000,000 can buy #29,094 monthly, payable to life with zero year guarantee and #27,473 monthly, payable for life with a 10 year guarantee.

Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA, yesterday, dissociated itself from claims by organised labour that the Tripartite Committee onNational Minimum Wage agreed on N30,000.NACCIMA said it only agreed to pay N22,000, adding that even when the Federal Government proposed N24,000, it was not comfortable with it. Consequently, NACCIMA has written to chairman of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee, Ms Ama Pepple, denying ever accepting to pay N30,000 as the new minimum wage.The letter addressed to Ms. Pepple, and signed by Dr. M. F. Dankaka, President, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture and representative of NACCIMA in the tripartite committee, read: “We refer to the media reports on the above stated national minimum wage figure and the proposed industrial actions by organised labour over a misconceived ‘agreement’ on the sum of N30,000 as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.“We were perplexed to learn that the sum/agreement was an outcome of the workings of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, which we are a member.“At no time did NACCIMA agree to such a figure. Rather, thelast figure offered by us as part of the organised private sector, OPS, was N22,000 and negotiation was still ongoingfor the meeting to arrive at a consensus and not by moving a motion.“We did not also authorise the representatives of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, to speak on our behalf. Recall that our members constitute about 50 percent of the employers in the OPS.“Conversely, we do not want to speak for the thousands of employers in the informal economy whose voices have not been heard.”It was however gathered that Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, had at its meeting yesterday, agreed to pay N22,500, insisting that the N24,000 proposal by the Federal Government was high.It was further gathered that the government was contemplating stepping up the amount to ensure harmonious relationship with the workers.At press time, NGF was still meeting at its headquarters in Abuja to conclude and agree on an acceptable figure. The NGF was expected to meet with Economic Management Team, EMT, chaired by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, by 8pm yesterday on its final resolution.Recall that organised labour has threatened to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike with effect from November 6,unless the government accepted and commenced payment of the negotiated N30, 000. It claimed that the Tripartite Committee on the National Minimum Wage had since completed its assignment for onward submission of its report to President Muhammadu Buhari. But the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, had said that the Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage was yet to conclude negotiation on the agreed figure.
