Lagos – A bricklayer and choirmaster, Adewale Babalola, who allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old chorister in his church, was on Thursday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. The accused, 36, who lives at No. 11, Maxwell Ijeh St., Aguda in Surulere area of Lagos, is facing a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse. According to the prosecutor, ASP Godwin Anyanwu, the accused committed the offence on Dec. 2, 2014 at his apartment. He said the accused took undue advantage of his relationship with the teenager as her choirmaster at Christ Our Light Glory Church, Sanya in Surulere, to commit the crime. “The girl told her father, who is also an evangelist in the church that the accused lured her into his room and forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her. “The father reported the matter to the General Overseer of the church, but no action was taken which compelled the victim’s father to report the matter at the police station,” Anyanwu said. The offence, Anyanwu noted, violated Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Babalola, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Soladoye, directed that the case file should be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. Section 137 prescribes life imprisonment for child rape. The magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to june 29th for DPP's advice (NAN cc lalasticala http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/choirmaster-rapes-female-chorister-in-lagos/ |
I have noticed this trend in most families, Why is it that the most stubborn child in a family is always his/her mother's favourite. Drop your thoughts! |

A marriage can only survive on the altar of sincerity but, sadly you can’t get the truth from cheap people. It has been observed that some ladies are liars, and in some instance greedy to a fault. If you are not true to yourself, then it would be difficult for you to be true to the man who want to marry you. This is the dilemma many ladies find themselves today. Our men always have their eyes on many ladies, and in Africa it is not a crime to have more than one woman. For your man to discipline himself and be ready to stay with you sincerely, you need to feed him with truth and confidence, always. Below are some of the things I see affecting our young ladies: 1. Our ladies end up single or chased out by their husband due to too much media exposure It is disheartening how a lady will glue her eyes on her mobile phone from morning to night, only to raise it up and focus on television to watch fake celebrity entertainment. Tell me, what else will dominate the mind-set of such ladies aside how to live the fake lifestyles they see on social media and TV? 2. Many African ladies now dislike cooking and home chores Because they had been totally brainwashed by movies showcasing men playing the role of women in a family, and due to excessive exposure to American media that promotes gender-equality in a destructive way, our ladies are losing their place in their husband’s heart. African family setting is unique and that is why previous African marriages last longer and envious to the whites. With this attitude, how do you expect an African man to desire to marry you who claim to be a modern lady when he knows he is only buying more headache and trouble than helper for himself? 3. You Don’t Bring Value Into The Life Of The Man You Marry or Dating Your best friend married without contributing anything to the man that married her, doesn’t mean it will work for you that way. Think, work towards equipping yourself so that you can be a value and also add value to his life to convince him that you are worth committing to. Adding value to his life isn’t by giving him money, or material gifts, nope… be a good wife, respectful, stay away from your mother or friends evil counsels, and above all be his best friend, helping him attain his goals in life, lending him moral, mental and spiritual support. 4. Your Mother and Friends Run Your Life How do you expect your husband or the man you are dating to trust you when you still allow your mum and clique of friends to be dictating which man you meet is worthy of your love and which is not? When will you wake up and face the fact that some of your so-called best friends may not want you to marry the best man and that your own mother may just be destroying your life for her selfish reason? 5. Lack of Manners, Character, Wisdom and Good Home Upbringing Your ‘hot girl’, ‘pretty girl’ looks will win you men; both the good and the bad, but your inner beauty, your character and manner are the things that will determine whether a man would marry you and, most importantly, keep you in his house as a cherished wife. Ladies, to achieve this, do away with being possessive, challenging your man, manipulating him for selfish purpose. A decent man will love you, once you prove yourself worthy as a responsible lady. Do not allow yourself to become a victim while trying to be too smart. Be humble, reap a good reward! http://www.gossipafrik.com/2015/06/opinion-5-reasons-why-some-ladies-cant.html?m=1 |

More than 20 people have been diagnosed with cholera and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Jos, Plateau State. The Head of the Medical team at the Kauna Clinic in Tudun Wada area of Jos, Dr. Yohanna IIzang, confirmed this to journalists in Jos on Tuesday. According to him, the clinic has so far diagnosed no fewer than 20 persons with the disease. Ilzang disclosure comes as water scarcity persists in the state. Residents of the state have been starved of water for more than four weeks now. The scarcity is coming on the heels of an industrial action embarked upon by civil servants in the state over non-payment of their six months salaries. Again, the scarcity has made many water vendors to resort to sourcing the commodity from all manner of channels. Meanwhile, IIzang has also confirmed that there are increased cases of stooling and vomiting among residents of the state. The victims, he added, included children. He noted that while some received treatment at the hospital, others visited other private health centres in the state. A guardian, Mr. Moses Gbande, who spoke to journalists, said his brother had been vomiting and stooling since Sunday night. The Public Relations Officer of the state Water Board, Nangor Ndam, also noted that the board was putting extra effort to check the excesses of water vendors, whom, he alleged, were selling unwholesome and contaminated water to the citizens. According to him, water vendors are taking advantage of the strike to sell contaminated water. He said, “For the past weeks, we have been battling with these illegal water vendors, with the assistance of the civil defence. It is worrisome because they are taking advantage of the strike to sell contaminated water to unsuspecting members of the public. Efforts to reach the state Chief Epidemiologist, Dr Raymond Juryit, were unsuccessful, as calls to his telephone did not go through. cc lalasticala http://www.punchng.com/health/cholera-outbreak-hits-jos-as-water-scarcity-persists/ |
