I don't believe defenders are more expensive than forwards except when Tuchel is bidding. That's my principle criticism, placing value on cheap positions. Forward is a skill that takes lots of practice and expertise. Defence, any fast, strong player with a little technique can do it.

Below are under 23 French centrebacks alone. How many Raphinas can you create a montage of at the same level. Demand and Supply dictates there are many centrebacks that can do a job but hardly anyone that can replicate Raphinha job at that price.

Let's not forget sarr is also a french under 23 player. All of them in this picture cannot be good or do their defending work very well that's why some will have van dijk and the other will have maguire.

Major issue I have with Fofana deal is his Injury, we don't know how well he has recovered. This is why I am not against cucurella coming, we don't know the Chilwell we are getting back and I honestly don't trust Emerson or Kennedy.
