sunboy: Please don't blame Fashola only for that school, but blame the chairman LG( remember Ojo is a very big local government) and they make huge revenue, blame the school management too. I used to read in that school during my undergraduate days because it was very close to my hostel, sometime ago I noticed some renovations going on, the rebuilt their fence while covers a long span and some classes were renovated which the OP ignored, even at that I have a feeling the state government is remitting for maintenance but some people are swallowing it and doing the very little things. That local government is heavily corrupt abeg, even without state government intervention it is enough for the LGA and the Obas to renovate because they all benefitting heavily from the presence of Alaba. Last bullet: I remember the chairman of the local government once put pictures of the newly renovated classes about 5 of them on guess, pictures of painted walls as u can see some on the OP picture, put them on a banner with his image and placed the banner in front of the LG entrance gate as an achievement
bottomline: I have a feeling that awori people naturally don't like development, they just like their primitive life style, like roads with tiny or better still no gutters at all, like houses without toilet, like waiting for foreigners like ibo and other yorubas to come develop their place for them etc.
Blame the LGA, Blame the school management. Make your findings well money for renovations are remitted. Stop talking trash. The Govt of fashola and his APC LG chairmen is an evil govt. |

You people have been trying to bring to light, the slip up of Fashola by even comparing him Akpabio just because the latter succeded in grounding a stadium. Well, it's good. But I see it as an act of foolishness cum ignorance, stupidity at its peak to expect a government be ye state or national level to transform the state/country within four years. Development has no peak, it's a w.i.p i.e, work in progress. Do u expect him to transform the entire lagos state to Dubai within 8 years? Come on, that's ridiculous. Think big. These buildings am seeing here are still ok na. You need to go to some government primary schools in ikorodu, ebutte meta, the same Ojo, egbeda, okoko and so on.
I swear if u go to these schools, you will weep for the little children and curse fashola to death. The simple question is to ask them why their children don't attend these public schools.
What about the roads? Zero. They only focus on uptown places.
Though Nigerians too are really docile and seem to be comfortable with anything they get from the government. The cra..zy and phoo.lish LG chairmen do not do anything at all. They just earn free money and embezzle money meant for infrastructure. But you cannot blame them because Nigerians will never tackle them. LG government is the closest to the people, yet Nigerians don't tackle them at all.
All the roads in every community street in lagos are terrible. I mean all the roads. That is to tell you that Nigerians are not ready for development at all. It is the same thing when you go to every state. People need to start exposing these political animals by taking pictures like these and posting them all over the internet. All Nigerian politicians are bunch of fraudsters and killers. God punish them all. |

Education › Re: Court Upholds Ban On Use Of Hijab In Lagos Public Schools by willibounce1(m): 7:21am On Oct 19, 2014 |
4har5y: OPINION I'm neither in support nor am I really in opposition to the court's verdict on this issue. My reason being every "human law" is error-bound-- Don't be surprise if this same case is won at the court of appeal (i.e the ban being lifted). It all depends on the perspective of the Judge handling the case (and ofcourse the counsels involved).
But the following is important...
Why would the case get to court in the 1st place?
Why and how was the ban (on Hijab) placed in the 1st instance?
Is the use of this Hijab a new thing in these schools? I mean did they just start wearing it?
Was the ban placed immediately the usage started?
Or the "authority" just woke one day and said: there has to be an end to this?
We can keep asking these questions, keep giving different views and opinion, keep arguing on & on & on till thy kingdom come.
We'll still not arrive at a conclusion. No way forward.
But I blame all of these on two things:
INTOLERANCE AND IGNORANCE of the average Nigerian.
***TOLERANCE If TOLERANCE does exist in the system, the use of Hijab won't be a problem in the 1st place, Bcuz I personal believe its not hindering any non- muslim from sticking to his/her belief. #NoHarmCaused And if we wanna talk uniformity among the students, the government could just say: OK, u wanna wear Hijab, fine, but the color of ur Hijab must not differ from the school uniform. This alone will do the magic and peace will reign. #NoOneIsLosing.
***IGNORANCE We all hear this quote a lot.
"If you want to hide something from a Black man, put it in writing (or in a book )".
We Nigerians (myself inclusive) are too lazy to read. We are not ready to learn new things. We listen to answer & not to understand. We are too quick to criticize. We are too SENTIMENTal. We are not ready to know the TRUE teachings of other religion or belief. I read some comments above and I wonder if some people actually know anything about Islam. They Judge Islam based on what a muslim (by name & not by character) does...
We know very little, yet we argue (blindly) a lot. The worst part is, we call others ignorant when it actually is what we are.
*My advice to Muslims: Please try and "show" the world what are the TRUE teachings of Islam. Some muslims (by name) hardly pray the five obligatory prayers, they know very little (or nothing) about Islam, yet when issues like this comes up, they wanna make (blind) arguments. They claim to be muslims.
CONCLUSION The only way forward is to learn how to TOLERATE others-- Every religion (that I know of) teaches this. It will do this Nation a great help. We should always be neutral in our dealings with others and have in-depth knowledge of both our religion and that of others, this will not only reduce un-necessary argument (& insults) but bring peace to all parties.
I rest my case... #peace You don't need all this epistle to try to look more intelligent than you are. Stop trying to be smart. If nobody loses anything from wearing Hijab to public schools, no one will lose anything if it's banned. Your daughters don't spend the whole day in school.. 8hours of not wearing Hijab won't kill them or make them unholy. If you have in depth knowledge of Islam, u should have simple common sense as well to accept and obey simple laws that won't kill you. They all be talking about the little girls right as if some of these girls are not forced to wear the hijab. Will any of you Muslims allow your daughters to exercise their RIGHTS if they willingly choose not to wear the Hijab? No hijab in public schools just for the period you are within the school premises(8hours). Don't tell us she....t about how the hijab can be made to blend with school uniforms. that's total CRAAP! |

They object to anything that MUslims want But Muslims don't care about what they get Yet they can write nice and very moving speeches about some ideals of mankind Most of it is deceptive Just read the arguments here Note that we go to work on Fridays but they don't on Sat (7the Dy Adventist) and Sun They will never remember that we could have insisted on not going to work on Fridays What is the hijab covering that the school uniform cannot cover? Education › Re: Court Upholds Ban On Use Of Hijab In Lagos Public Schools by willibounce1(m): 8:57am On Oct 18, 2014 |
ayinba1: I am trying to understand your reasoning. Why do you want to remove all traces of religion in schools? Do you believe in God? If yes, do you take a break from believing in God when you are at school?
Now if you say you do not believe in God, the rules for you are totally different.
The muslims are not asking that non muslims wear hijab. The simple request is that a muslim should be free to wear hijab if she choses to. This is another attempt to deny the girl child an education.
It is a wrong decision in a society that claims to support freedom of religion.
And please stop this argument of "take your kids to a private Islamic school". Public schools are funded with everyone's money (muslim, non muslim, pagan). Try to remove sentiments, one should be free to exercise his/her religious obligation. The hijab does you no harm. Live and let live. Madam, if public schools are funded with tax payers moneys, are Muslims the only people paying tax? Ur daughters can wear hijab to anywhere they like except a school, a public school, because it is mixed. There is a uniform and the hijab is not part of it. They can wear the hijab when going home or on their way to school. But the moment you step ur feet on the school compound, u take off the hijab. If we should be free to exercise our religions just the way we like, then a son of an Ifa priest can wear a a rope with a vulture's skull as pendant to school. I'm sureness u'll like that. No hijab in PUBLIC schools. Simple as ABC |

BetaThings: How does it nail it? Do you know that Nigerians used to go to work on Saturdays And Gowon changed that?
Not appearing in school on Saturday is different from being asked to expose myself everyday of the week If you expose yourself in school (major part of daylight period, 8 - 3), what is the point in covering for the rest of the day (minor part)?
I am sure that if one of your children's classmate wore ifa's beads or attire to school, you will not be comfortable. Why do people tell me what I would do in certain circumstances As for Ifa beads, it is not comparable to Hijab A Christians seamstress can sew the Hijab if she is open minded enoough Or you can buy Hijab from a Christian trader who sees it as a business I am not sure that the Ifa people would give it to a Christian seamstress to sow because they are likely to make those incantations while they are sewing the beads BTW You are likely to have encountered people wearing Hijab before - commercial vehicles, hospitals etc Have you seen people with Ifa attire in those places Meaning - Hijab is to be worn at all times and Ifa dress is for special occasions esp when they want to "fight" people, at least from what I see in home videos Just wondering how old you are. All your points sounds very childish and out of point. |

abdul01: Mehn, I feel sorry for and ashamed of the Christians of this country oh, so what u guys want (or r insinuating) is all these nudity n immoralities that's being encouraged everywhere whether it's on TV, movies, offices, campuses etc. I feel the best thing for u guys to have done is just to remain neutral on this issue or at least the Catholics among u to have joined us in this 'struggle', cos what this implies also is that the christian nuns shouldn't attend public schools or work in public institutions unless they are ready to exchange their religious beliefs for d education or work.
The second thing I'll like to comment on is on the fact that no one if forcing the hijab (wc simply means cover all ur body with loose opaque clothes, wt d exception of d face n d hands) on all d female pupils, rather w@ we re saying is that let the Muslim kids wear it, n don't persecute or flog them when they do.
Finally, u Christians n non-Muslims alike have to understand that our religions are different(i.e Islam vs other religions), our religion is not play, it's not singing n dancing n acting drama, but it's upholding d commandments of God our creator(whether u like it or not), so that's why we can't compromise it for anything. So in ur religion a woman can wear tight shorts all in d name of NYSC but in ours, she is obliged to cover her body in front of all strangers...
Well my message to this judge or whatever her name is is to read d story of the nations of the past, how mighty they were n due to their rebellion against their creator they were destroyed; the people of ad, pharoah, lut n co(at least these are stories that are known to us all n their remains all still exist). So in essence, the muslims will still continue to wear their hijab whether Lagos state government likes it or not n there's absolutely nothing anybody can do about it.
may Allah guide us all to d truth.
Peace!! Go and sit down Mr man. If you really want to kill yourself over this issue of hijab, talk to your wealthy Muslim brothers to build Islamic schools and stop wasting money on terrorism. Your female folks can wear hijab to Islamic schools ONLY. You don't have to look like a masquerade and smell like sh..t before you cover you body. It's common sense. Dress well and wear clothes that'll cover your body. I do not understand how a woman's hair or face has become a sensitive part that can be termed indecent or seductive, except you mean to tell me that your muslim brothers are moved by any part of a woman's body they see, even the nose or ears. Please you all need to stop getting on ppl nerves. A lot of you guys have caused too many problems for the world already. |

I went to a public secondary school where I had to learn CRK But I still don't debate christian theology with Christians
I am not copying Arabs. I am practising Islam I have confronted an Arab before on Islamic matters As an aside if you hate African Muslims, why should I not love and copy Arabs? Anyway the matter of Hijab is explained in the hadeeth of Aisha (RA)
As for hating, it is your choice But you owe yourself a duty as an educated person to truly understand what you hate BTW has it occurred to you that declaring proudly that you hate a religion is a problem in its own right? Stop making noise and go to court to contest the judgement. If you want to wear hijab, go to a Muslim school. Simple! I wonder why anybody with a functioning brain will have to learn Arabic before he/she can pray to God. Why can't we Africans say our prayers in our native languages. After all God understands all. Now some funny people are going to court over wearing of hijab that's an Arab sh..et. Just dsame way I see some funny men wrapping their heads with all kinds of clothes looking like ninjas.
