I need rich friends. hehe Ur hardwork paid out. Passion and energy. I no even no wetin to type again. But I'm happy for you. It's not saturated though. It's because all you seem to be seeing is design. Na why |
Learn a lot about the Principles of Design before you jump on Figma And also the basics laws of UX. Very important, even if its only UI you want to do. Pragnanz, Teslers, Contrast, Getstalt and the likes of them. Arm yourself with this basics and you would fly |

Jedalord:Don't wait for a pc. Start reading articles, everyone you can find. Go to Medium, uxplanet, uxcel, career foundry, idf. Just read everything now you don't have a pc. Read books too if you are serious. Things would be easier when you now get a pc |
Emeraldfynest:I have just one mini-case study as an article You could do case studies as articles too, if you want. The questions are okay, the reason for the thread in the first place |
Hmm I don't have any full projects yet. It's just Insha Allah and vibes. Although, I have personal projects I'm working on which would take some time. But I have a couple of shots on dribbble and behance, and articles too. I'm not done with Genesys yet. It's still a long way to go. Emeraldfynest: |
Link to the 21 day course? I'll try that webflow stuff. Emeraldfynest: |
The 3 projects in the course is enough. If you want to include extra, take up personal ones, maybe to solve a problem,...around you or something. If you've gotten to the second curse, start practicing short figma youtube videos. I'm an out-of-school student tho ![]() Emeraldfynest: |
What do you guys use for your portfolio? Uhmm... Whether you are just starting out, or you are an expert in design, it is important you always remember the basics. Always learn go back to the basics from time to time until it becomes a part of you. Many experience designers are fond of just jumping on figma when they see a project without no persona, user flow or all of that, no process. They feel they know it all already. We need to understand the cost of poor design. Go back to the basics of UX Design from time to time. |
I have not started up work yet. Working in a start up atm. And na just one, one is on hold. I have outsourced the rest. Lol. Diary na mumbo jumbo ![]() Emeraldfynest: |
I use figma. Figma is beginner friendly. Oh really, if you've been doing drag and drop, then UI will be an easy breeze for you. I think I need to change the title of this thread though, UI and UX and two different but inter-twined things. There's no UI without UX, and UX in the long run results to a good UI. The reason to learn UX first is to know how to design better UI that would suit the user needs. Even good visuals and beautiful designs also contributes to the overall user experience. I hope I don't confuse you TechSkill: |
While there's some iota of truth, your opinions might be misguided. If you want to do UI/UX or product design, you don't need to go the graphic design route. We talked about this stuff earlier in this thread sef. I could tell you tons of reasons why you don't need to, but mehn, I de work. Just check online. I was in your shoes earlier in March when I started, but you absolutely do not need to have any knowledge of graphic design to be a UI or UX designer. If you can solve problems, that's all you need. Just solving problems, really, solving problem visually, through a better experience, through writing, through images, through illustrations.... ati be be lo TechSkill: |
Do a quick scan from the beginning of this thread, and there you shall find all you need. A quick tip, grasp the full basics of UX design first, before bumping into UI. It would make your UI learning faster. If you focus on UI before UX, some things might frustrate you, maybe not now, but in the long run. ...not a design advice Fratello: |
If you're a UX Writer, or Copywriter, kindly indicate |
Eniwealth23:That's great, really happy to hear this |
Hmm Elrad, I wish I can use a voice note to explain to you. What you do is, create two frames just like you see in the mockup, and how you want it to look Then duplicate ur original design and fit the part you want to be shown in the mockup. If you use figma, you can easily rearrange the frames in the layers section by the left, to make sure your duplicated design is inside the parent mockup for the frame u wanna do I know I didn't explain so well, hmph |
