Who's still shipping from the US in this economy and this high dollar rate? Its crazy!! I'm even surprised this people are still in business.. Because its crazy out there!

Hello,

It's been a while since I last visited shoptomydoor reviews on Nairaland, And I am not surprised to see that Shoptomydoor PR isn't even trying anymore to deny many allegations levied against them since I’m sure many of them are actually true. I started with shoptomydoor since 2012 and I am one of their old customers, but even the most loyal of customers can see how they've gone downhill since when I joined in 2012. I am going to share my experience which is now looking like a final nail in the coffin.


I use both their UK and US warehouse and I am going to share my experience with both. Let me start with the UK warehouse, I have an electric kettle and one charger in the UK warehouse, which they made me pay $ 89.52 to ship it to their office in Nigeria, (Not my house) Their office. Yes, you read correctly $82. It's been over 1 month since I paid for that item, It’s not here yet. I paid for that shipment on the 27th OF MAY 2020, as of writing this review, It's 30th of June. I don't have a package yet. Their WhatsApp number who would usually address my concerns isn't even replying regularly anymore. It's now an off and on thing.


I currently have some items in my USA warehouse. Small items (Weighing Scale, PS4 CD, and a phone casing). On the warehouse page, they claimed my shipping and clearing is $68... Between the warehouse page and the checkout page, the total price being charged by them increased to $83. I noticed they started charging $5 for every delivery to their warehouse and they started charging a tax of 7.5%. Which got the total up to $83. I called their customer service number to address this issue, all he could tell me 'rudely' is that if I cannot afford the air basic charges, I should go with the ocean shipping, which would take months to arrive. I mean, $83 for 3 pieces of small items is crazy expensive. No matter how you want to spin it. Which I can guarantee wouldn't arrive at the promise time anyway.


On a final note, I would advise people to avoid this shoptomydoor company atleast for now, Like I said, I am not a new customer, I've been their customer since 2012 and I rarely use other logistics company, except on rare occasions when I want to deliberately compare shipping prices.. I can tell something is awfully wrong with shoptomydoor recently. If I were to take a guess, I would say they may be on the verge of bankruptcy or collapse. High shipping charges and many unnecessary fees like the inventory charge of $5 per delivery and 7.5% VAT (which wasn't there before) will tell you they're trying to raise money as quickly as possible without caring about the customer.


Another thing I do not like about shoptomydoor, which has been their custom over time is that they will never review your shipping fee. If you feel aggrieved about their charges and you try to get them to review it, they won't even address it. Like I said, I’ve noticed that over time. So whatever total they give you is what you'll pay. No questions asked.

@shoptomydoor, Why are your prices so crazy, ideally I would have called, but I'm sure you people will give me the same robotic answer you always give about size and dimensions and you guys are transparent blablabla, but how will DHL shipping that takes 3 days to deliver be cheaper than your regular basic shipping that takes almost a month? For a very small box at that... Na wa!

UPDATE:

My items arrived and they were in good condition. They explained about the delays they had and they were able to convince me. As a business man myself, I understand sometimes in business there are somethings out of your control, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.


I was also educated on how i can cut shipping costs which i didn't previously know about


Going forward, i will be using these services.

Shoptomydoor started off as a great company.. But they've really gone down the drain in the last couple of months. Since the beginning of this year. Their charges are very expensive and they don't deliver at the promised time.. They always say 6-10 days delivery date. But most times they don't deliver.

I am expecting an item from them for over 3 weeks now. I paid for this item on the 5th of September, I reluctantly paid for that shipment because it was so expensive and the size and dimensions given to most of the packages were false, As you know, when you order from Amazon, you most times already know the size and dimension of your item, When it gets to Shoptomydoor warehouse, Those sizes and dimension gets higher.. I didn't mind. I needed my item sharply as there were some medicine in that package crucial to my health. I didn't really have time to argue with customer care agents that are like robots or automated voice systems.

It's been 3 weeks now, Every week is a new story of shipment delays. Other foreign companies will compensate customers for delays of this nature. But Noo, Not shoptomydoor. But they are very quick to over charge you for items.

Amazon now ships most items directly to Nigeria. almost the same price as shoptomydoor. According to my research, Amazon is just about 5-10 dollars more expensive than shoptomydoor shipping wise. And you get your item with Fedex or Dhl in less than 5 days as they get shipped immediately.

And before anyone asks, I have been a customer for over 5 years. accumulating over 3k dollars in shipping fees over that time..

Really liked this company, but the truth has to be said. My unit number is NG22900. If they need to check anything

Hello, we offer 21 days free storage for items in the warehouse. We send out notifications to customers when the free storage days are expiring so they can make payment for the shipment in order not to incur demurrage which is calculated as $0.1/lbs/day.
Items are charge for storage after the free days given expires as we also pay for space.
When we have new changes on the site, we inform our customers via newsletters. You might not get it, if you have unsubscribed from this.
We notified customers in June about the 100% increase in clearing charge due to customs and the changes took effect immediately. Hence this affected the shipping rates.
The value/cost of your item does not determine the shipping cost. It is only used to calculate the duty which is 10% of the value of the item you are shipping.
Also, when you change your delivery address, it only affects the shipping cost of your items as the variable for calculating the clearing, duty and local handling cost is fixed.
The customer with the unit number NG131944 has made payment for her shipment after we explained the shipping cost.
