Trustme2:PLEASE EXPLAIN IN DETAILS. IS IT BECAUSE THE POSITIONS OR VACANCIES IS IN A NORTHERN STATE. THAT IS WHY THE WORD "FIGURE HEAD" |
Iolo:I think you may have missed the central point of Mrs. Ezekwesili's argument. She is not saying that State Police or the transfer of a few items from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List is unnecessary. In fact, she clearly states that State Police is necessary. Her argument is that these isolated reforms are not sufficient because they do not address the deeper constitutional imbalance. Yes, over the past decade, some powers such as electricity, railways, prisons, and local government autonomy have been partially decentralised. But these are still selective amendments within a constitutional framework that continues to concentrate excessive fiscal, political, and administrative power at the centre. The Federal Government still dominates revenue allocation, mineral resources, policing, internal security coordination, major infrastructure, and numerous other sectors that naturally fit a true federation. The issue is not simply whether a state has domesticated the Electricity Act. The bigger question is whether states have enough constitutional authority, fiscal independence, and accountability to design and implement policies that reflect their unique circumstances. A governor who depends largely on monthly allocations from Abuja rather than a productive local economy has less incentive to innovate or govern efficiently. Furthermore, accountability and restructuring are not mutually exclusive; they are complementary. A more decentralised federation actually improves accountability because citizens can more easily hold state and local leaders responsible for outcomes when those governments have genuine control over their affairs. It becomes harder for governors to hide behind the excuse that "Abuja controls everything." So, the conversation should not be framed as "constitutional amendments versus accountability." Nigeria needs both. The gradual movement of a handful of items to the Concurrent List is welcome, but it does not amount to the comprehensive restructuring required to transform what remains, in many respects, a highly centralised system into a genuinely federal one.

Huh zoedew:LEARN TO READ BEFORE YOU COMMENT. She did not say State Police is wrong. According to her State Police is needed but noted that the federal government should do more than state police. She says comprehensive restructuring is desirable to make Nigeria a true federation. She said there are too many powers with the federal government. In |
I disagree with the view that "elections are rigged because Nigerians want them to be rigged." That statement is too broad and does not reflect the feelings of millions of ordinary Nigerians who genuinely want free, fair, and credible elections. As a Nigerian, I want my vote to count. I do not want any election to be manipulated because I want a Nigeria that works—a country where leaders emerge through the genuine will of the people and are accountable to them. It is true that citizens have a responsibility to protect their votes by remaining vigilant, monitoring the process, and participating beyond just casting a ballot. Civic engagement is essential. However, it is unfair to suggest that the average Nigerian is responsible for election rigging. The burden of conducting credible elections rests primarily on electoral institutions, security agencies, political parties, and candidates who must respect the rules of democracy. Many Nigerians have stayed at polling units, served as party agents, volunteered as observers, and even risked intimidation and violence to defend the integrity of the vote. Their commitment should not be overlooked. The fact that irregularities still occur does not mean Nigerians desire them; rather, it often reflects systemic weaknesses and the abuse of power by those who benefit from electoral malpractice. I agree that leadership is one of Nigeria's biggest challenges and that citizens must actively participate in the democratic process. But we should be careful not to generalize or unintentionally blame the victims of a flawed electoral system. Millions of Nigerians want transparent elections, good governance, and a nation where every lawful vote truly counts. The path to fixing Nigeria lies not in concluding that Nigerians want rigging, but in strengthening institutions, enforcing electoral laws, holding offenders accountable, and encouraging citizens to remain engaged in defending democracy |
I disagree with the opinion of NDC Presidential aspirants that Nigerians want elections to be rig |
Tomorrow, Friday, 12th June, 2026 is Democracy Day. Why is the federal government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Interior yet to make announcement on Democracy day. The office of the Minister of Interior, Mr Olatunji Ojo is yet to make any publication concerning tomorrows public holiday. Is this not a failure? |
SmartMaster001:But by legal interpretation the children are obligated to inherit the properties. Kumuyi is just talking bible. But bible and real life are different. The best Kumuyi can do is to instruct his children to pick and outside successor to lead the church but he will just be a figure head. The financial management of the church will be controlled by the Kumuyi. |

The federal government should call the BOKO HARAM LEADERSHIP for talks. The American government held talks with the Taliban in the UAE that pave the way for peace in Afghanistan. What is wrong if the federal government opens talks with Boko Haram. What is One Nigeria? We can divide peacefully and let the regions go their separate ways. |
Most of these heavy duty weddings that dishes out red carpet and that paint the town red do not last long. Both couple just want to enjoy the frenzy of union and like a blues they fly away. It is like a game, a movie theatre. It is like the Nollywood movie. Shine and shine and everything fades away. Anyway, lets give them the benefit of the doubt, while wishing them a successful wedding union. |

First of all, Good Morning and Good Day to all our Muslims brothers and sisters. Wednesday, 27th and Thursday, 28th May 2026 has been declared as public holidays in commemoration of the Muslims feast of Eid-El-Kabir. I wish all Muslims a happy celebration. I am a Christian from South South region. I attends Pentecostal Church. In recent times particularly from the administration of Late former President of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari to the current President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu have seen different name being used for the Muslims festivities. Take for example, Eid-Ul-Adha the Islamic festival that is commencing today used to be celebrated as Eid-El-Kabir but today it is called Eid-Ul-Adha. Why the name change? Please what is the difference between the name Eid-Ul-Adha and Eid-El-Kabir ? Why are Muslims using different name to mean the same thing?

I need explanation on the following part of the court judgement and it reads as follows: The court also ordered the plaintiff to pay an additional ₦1 million cost in favour of the Attorney-General of the Federation. Now my question is this ₦1 million is it going to be paid by the defendant to federal government account or It is going to be paid to the personal bank account of the Attorney-General of the Federation. WHO WILL BE THE BENEFICIARY OF THIS ₦1 million |
