Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Comptroller-General, Muhammad Babandede revealed the issuance of residence permits to foreigners and deportation of illegal immigrants in the country will commence in 3 months.

Babandede made this known at the passing out parade of 396 cadets in the 44th Superintendent Basic Course held at the Immigration Training School in Kano, Daily Trust reports.

He said;

“With present security challenges facing this nation, the only options left for the service is the issuance of permits for all foreign nationals living in the country as a measure to curtail insecurity issues.”

“Therefore, in the next three months, the service will commence issuance of residence permits to foreign nationals residing in Nigeria and anybody who failed to possess his own before the expiration of the stipulated time for the permit issuance faces deportation,” he said

World Population Division in a statement on Monday, it has reported the population of the world to be 7.7 billion, United Nations (UN).

In a population prospect, United Nations added that the number could increase to 8.5 billion by 2030.

Extract from the data released showed  that males are more than females in not just Nigeria, but the world as a whole.

This goes against previous reports and popular beliefs that women outnumber men in Nigeria.

The report reads;

“The world’s population is projected to grow from 7.7 billion in 2019 to 8.5 billion in 2030 (10% increase), and further to 9.7 billion in 2050 (26%) and to 10.9 billion in 2100 (42%). The population of sub-Saharan Africa is projected to double by 2050 (99%),” the report read in part

“Other regions will see varying rates of increase between 2019 and 2050: Oceania excluding Australia/New Zealand (56%), Northern Africa and Western Asia (46%), Australia/New Zealand (28%), Central and Southern Asia (25%), Latin America and the Caribbean (18%), Eastern and South-Eastern Asia (3%), and Europe and Northern America (2%)”.

Derby County Coach, Frank Lampard has reportedly agreed to become Chelsea’s new manager, after holding talks with Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea FC managing roal is now vacant and seriously searching for another new boss, after allowing Maurizio Sarri to leave.

The Club owner, Roman Abramovich has taken a more hands-on role with finding Sarri’s successor and had a phone call with Lampard last week, in which he asked the 40-year-old to return to Stamford Bridge.

It was reported that Abramovich promised Lampard that he will be given at least two seasons at Chelsea, which means he will still be in charge after the club have served their two-window transfer ban.

Frank Lampard has 2 years remaining on his current contract with Derby County and the Blues have not yet agreed a compensation package with the Championship club.

The former Chelsea midfielder guided Derby to the Championship play-off final this season, but missed out on promotion after a defeat to Aston Villa.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazuluike Amaechi, on the occasion of his 90th birthday anniversary.

Femi Adesina, The President Buhari spokesman said the president celebrate the elder statesman, foremost nationalist and respected community leader who has remained steadfast in proffering the way forward for Nigeria and building bridges that will help strengthen the foundations of the country.

The President enjoins all who celebrate the nonagenarian to reflect on the ideals he shared so much with national founding figures like the great Zik of Africa, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, who used their leadership positions to serve the country with dedication, dignity and discipline”.

Chelsea has released a statement about its Manager, Maurizio Sarri leaving the club to return to Italy.

It was reported that Chelsea and Italain Giant, Juventus have concluded on termination of Sarri’s contract with the club, which had two years left to run and is ending at his request.

Chelsea Director, Marina Granovskaia said:

“In talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant.

“He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point

Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

“We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Meanwhile, The club statement reads:

“Sarri moved to London last summer, joining us from Napoli, and his Chelsea side made a strong start to the Premier League campaign.

We won our first five games and went unbeaten in all competitions from the start of the league season until late November when we suffered a reverse against Tottenham at Wembley.

Progression from the group stage of the Europa League was comfortable and a home Premier League win against eventual champions Manchester City a highlight in December.

“However, our away form dipped in the New Year and we suffered heavy defeats at Bournemouth and Manchester City.

Our league season by then was focused on achieving a top-four finish and entry back into the Champions League, a target that was reached with one game left to play.

“Sarri achieved this while implementing a new style of play and a change in formation which was spoken of favourably by members of the squad.

Young Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek won increasingly frequent starts in the second half of the season until injury struck them both.

In the Carabao Cup we made it all the way through to the final and as Sarri pointed out, we had to beat the two finalists in the Champions League, Liverpool and Tottenham, along the way.

At Wembley we bounced back from our heavy league defeat at Man City by performing well in a tight contest which was only decided in the domestic treble winners’ favour by a penalty shoot-out.

“Our FA Cup campaign under Sarri ended at the fifth-round stage at home to Man United but in the Europa League, he was not to be denied the first major trophy of his managerial career.

Premier League opposition were overcome when Arsenal were swept aside in Baku to ensure that our return to the Champions League next season will be as one of the top-seeded sides.

“It also confirmed Sarri as just the fifth man to coach Chelsea to a European trophy.

We wish him well for his time back in Italy.”

The federal high court in Abuja has ordered AIT and RayPower FM to their operation immediately

The ruling which was presided upon by Justice Ekwo Inyang ordered the reopening of AIT and Raypower as he told both parties to maintain status quo.

Following the suspension of their license by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). The case has been adjourned to Thursday, June 13.

NBC had on Thursday June 6, announced the suspension of the licences of AIT and Ray Power belonging to the Daar Communications Limited.

Modibbo Kawu, The NBC director-general, stated this at a press briefing in Abuja, saying the media houses’ shutdown was until further notice.

According to NBC, The offences of AIT and Raypower fm included the airing of a presidential election documentary by the AIT, a matter pending before a tribunal, the inability of the company to pay its fees, the use of “divisive and inciting contents from the social media” among others.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in reaction to the closure of Daar Communications subsidiaries, AIT and RayPower FM, by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has asked for the immediate reopening of the stations, urging it reopens within 24 hours.

Blessing Okoro arrested by Billionaire Onye Eze, the owner of the house she claimed belongs to her, few days ago

The blogger was captured in a video, handcuffed.

This is coming just a day after she confessed that she posted the photo of the house for clout and a motivation to herself.

She had earlier claimed ownership of the house, but was busted by the real owner of the house who called her out on social media.

She summoned courage to confess that it was all a stunt.

In an audio released she admitted that she begged the gate keeper of the house to allow her take pictures in front of it. She also revealed that she has spoken to the owner of the house to calm him down.

When she initially posted the photo and claimed ownership of the mansion, Blessing Okoro wrote:

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari says the sweeping offensive against drug trafficking will be sustained, urging Nigerians in diaspora to always provide information that will help the government to curb the menace.

The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba in a statement, said the President stated this when he received leaders of Nigerian Community in Saudi Arabia at the end of his Umrah trip on Tuesday.

President Buhari stressed the need to intensify efforts toward exposing those involved in drug trafficking and illegal trade in the country, assuring that appropriate actions would be taken.

Buhari said the recent exposure of a network of drug dealers operating at one of Nigeria’s international airports, who were discovered to be tagging bags filled with drugs in the name of innocent passengers, called for expansion of searchlights.

He urged citizens to refrain from breaching the laws of Nigeria and other countries.

He said:

“every country has its own unpatriotic citizens. In China and Saudi Arabia, the laws are stringent on these things.

“Our citizens must obey our laws. They must respect the laws of other jurisdictions and if they don’t, then they should blame themselves, not the harsh laws that they meet.’’

PMB said he was grateful for the support and prayers of Nigerians in Saudi Arabia for wellbeing of the country, assuring them that his administration would do its best to secure the country, improve economy and fight corruption.

“We have tried in the war against terrorism and citizens in the Northeast are our best witnesses.

Agriculture is doing well, to the point that we are food self-sufficient, as a result helping the nation to save money on imports,” he added.

President Buhari said he owed Nigerians a debt of gratitude for his second term.

“We are doing our best. I will continue to keep the trust of citizens. I am happy Nigerians have confidence in us.

“The crowds I witnessed in my campaign across the 36 states were not staged. No amount of money could have generated that enthusiasm.

“I assure everyone that I will continue to do my best. I will keep the trust of Nigerians,’’ he said.

Alhaji Umar Dan Hadejia, The leader of Nigerian diaspora community delegation, congratulated the President on his second term re-election and promised their continued support.

He listed a number of challenges they were facing in Saudi Arabia, including activities of drug traffickers.

He also cited the recent incident of Miss Zainab Aliyu, whose name tag was attached to a drug-filled bag at the airport in Kano, leading to her arrest and prolonged detention in Saudi Arabia.

Zainab Aliyu was released after President Buhari’s intervention and had been reunited with her family.

President Buhari, who was bid farewell at the airport in Jeddah by the Governor, Prince Mashel Bin Majed Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, returned to Abuja on Tuesday evening.
