National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, have arrested a textile dealer with 4.4kg of methamphetamine, which he wanted to smuggle to Cambodia, Southeast Asia. The suspect, Mr. Ifeka Charles Obi, 47, according to a statement signed by Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA spokesman, concealed the drug, estimated to have a street value of $1.4 million, in food items. The statement added that the seizure was the first made this year by the agency at the NAIA. Mr. Ofoyeju explained that primary investigations by the NDLEA revealed that drug cartels are exploring new markets. He added that the drug costs $325, 000 per kilogram at its intended destination. Mr. Ofoyeju, however, assured that the agency had developed an adequate counter-strategy to the tricks of the cartels. The suspect, the NDLEA spokesman disclosed, hails from Oba in Idemili South Local Government of Anambra State and was allegedly handed the drug in Lagos, but elected to travel through Abuja because the airport is perceived to have less stringent scrutiny. He added that the suspect’s travel expenses were taken care of by his sponsors, who promised to pay him N1 million upon successful delivery of the drug. NDLEA Commander at the airport, Mr. Hamisu Lawan, said that the drug was detected during the outward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight. “The 40 parcels of suspected whitish substance found on the suspect, Ifeka Charles Obi, 47 years old tested positive for methamphetamine with a total weight of 4.4kgs. “The drug was hidden in foodstuff, but we were able to detect it and the suspect also apprehended," Mr. Lawan said. The suspect was said to have confessed to the crime, saying he was pushed into the illicit trade because his business collapsed. The suspect added that it was the first time he was engaging in such dastardly act. “This is my first time of smuggling drugs, and I agreed to do it so as to get money for my textile business. They promised to pay me N1 million with all-expenses paid trip to Cambodia. The drug was carefully hidden in foodstuffs. Still it was detected. I accept everything as my fate,” he said. Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Colonel Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd.), expressed confidence in the agency's capacity to curtail drug peddlers and called on stakeholders to remain steadfast in their approach. He assured that more drug cartels would be dismantled in the course of the year. lalasticlacla lala

Police Arrest And Detain Nigerian Man And Accuse Him Of Attempted Kidnapping After His Car Was Bashed By Some White Men In Abuja And He Chased After Them And Blocked Their Car With His Own The sister of the victims wrote: “Yesterday my brothers and I went to Mami market, Abacha Barracks. While awaiting the gate opening, this Highlander jeep, number place umber 110 CD 06, overtakes us from behind and bashes our car. Everyone in view saw this including the soldiers, they tried to flag them down but they zoomed off to everyone’s dismay. The soldiers were shouting that we should chase them. We caught up with them and blocked them with our car. . We found 4 Polish inside the Jeep. Even after we parked right in front of them, they still drove right into us, my brother had to open their car and put the car’s hand break on and remove the car key from the ignition to stop them. Police gathered to ask what happened, we explained it all to them. The white man driving ran into us, intentionally, the second time, so that people would think we were trying to overtake wrongly. They stepped out and the first thing they said was “we’re diplomats”.. At this point I’m beyond flabbergasted. They turned the whole thing around saying we bashed them. My brother decided to go to the Barack and bring 2 army witnesses. We insisted that damages be paid for since ‘sorry’ wasn’t forthcoming from them. You will not believe that the police let these white men go. And took us to the police station for statement, just because they were white and claimed to be diplomats. As I speak now, my brother is being held at Asokoro police station, the DPO of the station now claims we were trying to kidnap the white men. He has been detained even though the soldiers came in as witness, two lawyers are on standby, yet the DPO is adamant. This is a clear case of man know man or highest bidder wins. I have lived abroad and there is nowhere hit and run cases aren’t charged, this cannot happen in Poland, they wouldn’t even try it, but Nigeria is a lawless and the police are ever ready to participate and cooperate with them. Nigerian police would see the truth and rather be bribed by white men. They’re chilling at their embassy while my brother is being detained by the police.” Cc . lalasticlacla
