Members of Doche’s church watched helplessly in tears as the crocodile devoured him.


A protestant church pastor identified as Doche was reportedly attacked and devoured by a crocodile at Lake Abaya which is close to Arba Minch city, some five hundred kilometers to the south west of the capital Addis Ababa.

Lake Abaya which covers an area of 1,162 km² is known to have a huge Crocodile population.

According to BBC, at least 80 people were being baptised by Pastor Docho Eshete when the incident happened.

“He [Eshete] baptised the first person and he passed on to another one. All of a sudden, a crocodile jumped out of the lake and grabbed the pastor pushing aside the person he was baptising,” local resident Ketema Kairo was quoted as saying.

An Ethiopian online publication Borkena said that members of his church watched helplessly in tears as the crocodile devoured him.

Agood Samaritan has cautioned well-meaning Nigerians, asking them to beware of a couple of young boys claiming they need help only to end up stealing from you when you offer help.

Emmanuel Owuala shared photos of the young boys who station themselves at the Udoumana traffic light to sell sub stories. He said they told him they needed money to buy pure water and start a business. Emmanuel took pity on them and gave another young boy some money and asked him to go with the boys to get them the pure water they needed for their business, but on the way, the boys dragged the money from the other boy Emmanuel gave the money to, threatened to beat him up, and ran off with the money to buy a “concoction” instead of the pure water they claimed they needed

The police investigation revealed that Mr. Chukwu actually planned and murdered his late wife due to suspicion and jealousy.

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal during interaction with the media.

The police boss said that the suspect, Mr. Chukwu actually killed the late Joy in cold blood at his residence in Oshodi, Lagos. He said that he murdered the victim by stabbing her from the back. And when he realised that he had killed her, he tied her two legs, squeezed her into a refuse disposal bucket in order to dump her inside the available refuse dump site before the vigilant security man on duty accosted him and discovered that it was human body that was inside the bin.

Edgal said that during interrogations, it was discovered that the couple had marital issues bordering on infidelity. He said that the suspect was having insecurity issues which made him overtly jealous and pushed him to kill the wife.

He said that the suspect went ahead and tied the wife’s two legs with a tape before putting her in a big refuse bucket which confirmed his intent to conceal the crime. The CP said that the suspect will be charged to court soon over the murder.

Meanwhile, traders at Ladipo Market had burgled Mr. Chukwu’s shop and carted away some goods, believing that he will not come out of the case alive.

It took the intervention of the market union leader, Mr. Jude Nwankwo who set up measures to prevent further looting of the shop and placed it under close supervision.

The revelation by CP Edgal has finally dispelled the rumour that Mr. Chukwu had wanted to use the victim for ritual purposes which had been reported in the media.

As health workers in India scramble to contain an ongoing outbreak of Nipah, a rare and deadly virus with no known cure, concerns have been raised about the disease’s potential to become the next global health emergency.

At least 13 people in the Indian state of Kerala have died from the Nipah virus in the recent outbreak.
