Business / Breaking: China To Exports Petrol To Nigeria As Output Surges by WNRealm: 10:12am On Jul 28, 2019

China will increase its petrol exports to near record levels in July and August with cargoes moving to Nigeria and Mexico as refiners seek outlets for their fuel amid a wave of new production and slowing domestic demand.

The surge in Chinese shipments will fill a supply gap caused by refinery outages in the United States and the Middle East but are likely to accelerate a plunge in Asian petrol margins, which have dropped by 50 per cent since July 12, when they clawed back to a three-month high, according to Reuters.

China’s refineries, led by PetroChina Co, will export about 1.5 million tonnes of petrol a month in July and August, two senior traders with knowledge of China’s petrol exports were quoted as saying. That is up from June exports of one million tonnes and near the record of 1.69 million tonnes exported in March, according to Chinese customs data.

The export surge is a result of the start-up of two large-scale refineries owned by Hengli Petrochemical and Zhejiang Petrochemical that will each add about four million tonnes per year of new petrol output when fully operational.

PetroChina was granted petrol export quotas of 4.7 million tonnes in the second batch of quotas issued in May, more than half of the quotas given. As a result, the company is placing cargoes to Mexico, Chile and Nigeria, according to traders.

Petrol surplus in China is exacerbated by slowing demand growth, given weakening consumer confidence as the trade war continues, reflected also in slumping car sales,” said Michal Meidan, director of the China energy programme at Oxford Institute of Energy Studies.

Chinese refiners have loaded 1.2 million tonnes of petrol for export as of July 23, after a record 1.6 million tonnes in June, according to data from Refinitiv.

Politics / AAC Reaffirms Sowore As National Chairman by WNRealm: 9:03am On Jul 28, 2019
The party has also expelled its former treasurer and secretary, Leonard Ezenwa.

AAC Deputy National Secretary, Joshua Adeoye, read the party’s resolution after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Saturday in Abuja.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had on July 12 validated Sowore’s suspension and that of Malcom Fabiyi as the Deputy National Chairman.

Mr Adeoye, however, said allegations against Sowore leading to his purported expulsion from the party were manufactured, adding that there was no case of financial impropriety against him.

Adeoye said Sowore as a candidate declared campaign money, adding that he carried the people along as money was being spent to the end of the campaign.

“The NEC outrightly rejects, cancels, reverses and totally repudiates the purported suspension of Sowore and Fabiyi from their offices.

“The NEC hereby affirms and reinstate Sowore as the one and only national chairman of AAC and Fabiyi as the deputy national chairman of the party,” the party said.

Adeoye added that all actions carried out by Nzenwa in the name of AAC including documents signed or authored by him ‘are dismissed, set aside and nullified forthwith’.

According to him, Ezenwa’s expulsion followed his failure to appear before the NEC to defend himself in line with article 80 of AAC constitution which found him guilty of the alleged offence.

The party called for immediate arrest and prosecution of Ezenwa for alleged forgery and perjury among other criminal acts.

Phones / Just In: Whatsapp’s Payment Program To Be Officially Launch by WNRealm: 5:34pm On Jul 25, 2019
WhatsApp’s payment program has been stuck in the testing phase in India for quite a while now. But, the wait might finally be over. The company‘s global head, Will Cathcart, said the UPI-based payment service will officially launch in the country by the end of 2019.

Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Cathcart said, “to boost digital inclusion in India, we can launch the (Pay) service across the country later this year after meeting regulations.”

Last February the company started testing the service and in June, it said the test had a million users. After the test launch, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO of India’s leading eWallet company Paytm, said WhatsApp is killing the “beautiful open UPI system” by not allowing users to make cross-app transactions.

However, its road to the official launch hit a dead end when the government asked the company to form a team and set up an office in India.

Fashion / Ladies, Check Out The 6 Make-up Trends You Have To Ditch In 2019 by WNRealm: 2:53am On Jan 19, 2019
[img]https://www.gltrends.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/makeup-face-1024x576.jpg
[/img]
There are certain make-up trends the ladies have to ditch in the year 2019. These are some of those trends.

2018 has come and gone. It was dominated by make-up trends from glitters to waving eyebrows and sharp bronzer and the likes. In 2019, there are make-up trends we should ditch and these include:

1. Waving eyebrows

They are hard to pull off for an everyday look, they do not compliment any shape of face.

2. Glitters and highlighters

If you are guilty of using eye shadows as highlighters or bronzers, then you are already busted, let it go. Over highlighting your face ruins that natural glow.

3. Uneven foundation

Buy a foundation that is exactly your shade. It is not nice if your face has a different colour to your body.

4. Over-the-top nails

We are definitely ditching these nail designs in 2019. This year, we are sticking to normal looking and beautiful nails.

5. Glitters Eyeshadows

right-hand Why You Should Stop Using GB WhatsApp In 2019
Extremely shiny and heavy eyes should be chucked out in 2019,remember less is more.

6. Extreme contouring

If you are not a professional makeup artist, then you should probably take a back sit when it comes to contouring. Over pointed noses and extremely sharp jaws is in no-no.

Politics / The Lessons Of Fayose's Dinner.. By Steve Egbo Phd by WNRealm: 10:59am On Oct 20, 2018
THE LESSONS OF FAYOSE'S DINNER.. BY STEVE EGBO PhD

The outgoing Governor of Ekiti state, Peter the Rock, His Excellency, Chief Ayodele Fayose, held a valedictory dinner yesterday for his officials, friends and courtiers.

That a Governor held a dinner party for his privileged friends is not a big deal and therefore should not attract any attention. But something very unique occurred yesterday which compels me to make a few observations.

Fayose, we all know, is one of the most powerful and rambunctious Governors in the National limelight in the last few years. Noisy, ebullient, uncouth, arrogant, loquacious, boisterous, cantankerous, foul mouthed, disdainful, demagogic, etc, Fayose represented everything a gentleman and a leader would aspire not to be.

But Fayose was a Governor and Governors are big men. In Nigeria, Governors are supermen. Imperial monarchs. They wield enormous power and control huge resources. They are answerable to no one. They have the world in their pockets and the rest of us at their feet. Men and women fell over each other to seek their attention. To have a Governor's phone number is a mark of honor. To have him pick your call or reply your text message makes your day.

But yesterday, Fayose's dinner table was deserted. I watched in horror as this great son of omoluabi struggled to hide his shame and embarrassment, his utter humiliation and rejection at the prospect of eating his sumptuous dinner all alone. For he has been deserted by the retinue of sycophants, court jesters, hangers on and other men of dubious pedigree that hitherto buffed up his self esteem and fired his temporary idiocy.

As I reflected on Fayose's executive loneliness and anguished mien, I saw again, very clearly, the futility and irrelevance of all these struggles. In Nigeria, politicians will do anything to acquire power. They are ready to kill, cheat, lie, defraud, betray, sell their souls to Satan or engage in other beastly and despicable behaviors, just to acquire power and the appurtenances that go with it.

Last night, Fayose exuded nothing but shame, loneliness and the anguished spirit. I remembered Reuben Abati's lament : "the phone no longer rings". I also remembered the admonitions of Magnus Abe to his friend, Rotimi Amechi :"someday, we will leave power or power will leave us", just as I remembered the iconic words of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe : NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT.

How I wish this would be a lesson to all of us, especially the powerful, the power seekers, the attention seekers and the name droppers, that all of these, indeed life itself, is like a candle in the wind. It blooms, it flickers and it dies. Leaving behind an empty void and hollow darkness.

If Fayose knew that a day like yesterday would come, I am sure he would have done things differently. But for him, it is too late. He can no longer turn back the hands of the clock. He can only look forward to a bleak future, one suffused with uncertainty, loneliness, trepidation, regrets, scorn and the derisions of his fellow men.

But man by nature is stupid. We are stubborn, unfeeling, unseeing and unwise. Many who have the opportunity Fayose had will still choose the path of ignominy and ruin. They will work deliberately and consciously to wear a crown of thorns, walk on the road to Golgotha and litter their paths with thorns and brambles, with reptiles and scorpions, with dishonor and shame.

Fayose's farewell dinner is a great lesson. It is indeed a great lesson for those of us presently in governance to learn from. He is alone in EFCC Cell and so will be others after either their immunity or while still in Office.

Politics / APC Legal Team Threatens Oshiomhole, Orders With Contempt by WNRealm: 4:12pm On Oct 18, 2018
The legal team of the Chief Cyril Ogodo led executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Delta State, have threatened to initiate a contempt of proceedings against the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and anyone who violates the order of the Federal High Court, sitting at Asaba for parties to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit before it by the Ogodo led executive.
According to Vanguard, the team in a statement while reacting to comments by the legal adviser of the Jones Erue led executive, E.V. Onojeghuo that no order restraining the APC and its chairman (Oshiomhole) was made by the court, maintained that the order was very clear and unambiguous.
The statement which was signed by Fred Olokor Esq., noted that the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba indeed restrained the APC from submitting any list of candidates from Delta State to INEC for the 2019 general elections until the substantive suit is resolved, saying, “Let it be known that anyone who violates the clear orders made on the 17th of October, 2018 stands the risk of having contempt proceedings initiated against them.”
The statement by the team reads: “Our attention has been drawn to the erroneous and mischievous interpretation being given to the clear and unambiguous order made on the 17th of October, 2018 by Honourable Justice Toyin Adegoke of the Federal High Court, sitting in Asaba in the suit brought by Cyril Ogodo & 2 ors Vs. Adams Oshiomhole, APC & Ors that all parties maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
DONT MISS Return N1.3bn You Collected From Dasuki, EFCC Tells Fayose
“At the resumed hearing of the case, Counsel to the Plaintiffs (O. J. Oghenejakpor, Esq.) who had filed a Motion on Notice to restrain 1st and 2nd Defendants (i.e APC and Oshiomhole) from submitting any list of candidates from Delta State to INEC other than the list of candidates that emerged from the Cyril Ogodo led executive’s primaries, which was duly served on all the Defendants, urged the Court to hear the motion on notice. But because the Defendants served counsel to the Plaintiffs their processes which included preliminary objections in court on the 17th of October, 2018 the motion was not moved.
“In a bid to diligently prosecute the case, the plaintiffs’ counsel applied for a stand down for a few hours to respond to the preliminary objections filed by the Defendants and served in court. The stand down was granted. And before the resumption of hearing after the stand down, the Plaintiffs’ counsel was able to file his response to the preliminary objections and was ready to argue the said preliminary objections and the substantive application.

“However, because the Defendants main aim in court was to stall the hearing of the case, they vehemently argued that they were not ready to respond on points of law orally. They insisted on filing a reply and applied for an adjournment of the case.
“When it was clear that the Defendants counsel’s intention was to stall the hearing of the case, the Plaintiff Counsel called upon the court to preserve the res in the matter which is to restrain the APC from submitting any list of candidates from Delta State to INEC for the 2019 general elections except candidates that emerged from the Cyril Ogodo anchored primaries.
“The court then inquired from the Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) if any list of candidates had been submitted to INEC as at 17th of October, 2018. The INEC counsel confirmed to court that no list of candidates for Delta State have been submitted to INEC yet.

“At this point the Honourable Judge ordered that all parties should maintain status quo. The clear meaning and intent of the status quo, therefore, is to preserve the res by ensuring that no list of candidates is submitted to INEC until the determination of the substantive matter.
“This was why the judge ordered for accelerated hearing and fixed November 1st and 2nd 2018 for the hearing and determination of the case.”
“It is therefore pedestrian and mischievous for anyone to suggest or argue that the Federal High Court in Asaba did not restrain APC from submitting any list of candidates for Delta State to INEC.
“The counsel to the 1st and 2nd Defendants (APC and the APC National Chairman) was in court and clearly understood what the order meant. Counsel will thus be unduly exposing his clients to the risk of contempt proceedings if he allows them to be misled by the mischievous interpretation of the Prophet Jones factional Legal Adviser as is being circulated in the media,” he added.

Politics / PDP Presidential Tickets : Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal, Others Face Party's Test by WNRealm: 9:39am On Sep 19, 2018
PDP presidential ticket: Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal, others face party’s test

Ahead of the October 5 national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to pick its presidential flag bearer, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party yesterday set hurdles the 13 aspirants must scale to secure the party’s presidential ticket. PDP presidental candidates Vanguard gathered that the NWC, which said the era of “bow and go” during the screening was over, said the criteria to be met by the aspirants would include, among others, acceptability across the country; their political viability; the structure they had built over time; and the bridges they had built across the country. According to the leadership of the party, all the 13 aspirants will be diligently scrutinized before testing their popularity at the primaries. It also dismissed speculations of a possible existence of an agreement to favour a particular aspirant. “The party does not and will not adopt any aspirant in the race for the presidential or any other office for that matter,’’ the party stated. A reliable source at the party’s national secretariat told Vanguard on condition of anonymity, yesterday, that though the Board of Trustees, BoT, was working round-the-clock towards the emergence of a consensus candidate, the decision of the board was not binding on the party leadership or the aspirants. Thorough screening He said: “All aspirants on our platform are credible people but that will not stop us from conducting a thorough screening of all our presidential aspirants. None of them would be asked to simply bow and go because the leadership of Prince Uche Secondus wants to do things differently. “The party did not enter into an agreement with any of these aspirants as we have read in the media because there is no need for one. The era of impunity is over and so it is impossible to adopt a candidate in a delegate-system like ours.’’ He, however, noted that the party was not against the emergence of a consensus candidate, provided the aspirants subscribed to it. Meanwhile, there are increasing pressure on the zones in the North to come up with a sort of agreement that would help reduce the heat ahead of the primaries. Vanguard learned authoritatively that in the North West geo-political zone, party bigwigs and opinion leaders are set to meet with former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso; ex- Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the party, Ahmed Makarfi; erstwhile Sokoto State governor, Attahiru Bafarawa; his Jigawa State counterpart, Sule Lamido; businessman cum politician, Datti Baba-Ahmed and incumbent governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal. The purpose of the meeting, it was learned, is to see how some of them may drop out of the race of their own volition. A similar meeting is also expected to hold with aspirants of North East extraction, including Atiku Abubakar and Gombe State governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, in what is clearly an attempt to see the two gladiators work together as a common front. All aspirants free to contest Meanwhile, an official of the party, yesterday, told  Vanguard that the PDP would not bar any of the aspirants on the basis of corrupt allegations. The official, who pleaded not to be named, said the leadership of the party had chosen not to play into the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, by asking aspirants facing corruption charges to bow out of the race. He said:  “The APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole is facing corruption allegations even though the security agencies have not mustered the courage to investigate and arraign him. The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has serially been accused of graft but they are there still. So, we won’t go into that (barring aspirants facing corruption allegations). “We are not like APC that tries people on the pages of newspapers and found them guilty. The choice of who becomes our candidate will be determined by our delegates who represent the voice of millions of Nigerians.” On insinuations that the number of presidential aspirants may breed fresh crisis in the party after the primaries, the party official dismissed same, stating that the sheer number of interested contenders showed that the PDP was the preferred platform of Nigerians “to birth a fresh start.” He added: “The interest is a clear indication that PDP is the chosen platform of many Nigerians and I want to say that the more, the merrier. ‘’How many aspirants do they have in the APC? Those dreaming of seeing implosion in the PDP will continue to wait until we take over Aso Rock in 2019.”

Politics / Governor Okorocha: Picking Comrade Oshiomhole As National Chairman Saved APC by WNRealm: 8:25am On Jul 30, 2018
The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, says choosing Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress saved the party from an impending catastrophe.
Okorocha said in spite of the turbulence currently facing the APC, with Oshiomhole in the saddle, the party would land at a safe destination.
In a statement in Owerri on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said had they foreseen the current gale of defections rocking the party, the proponents of tenure elongation for Oshiomhole’s predecessor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, would have thought otherwise.
He said the challenges currently facing the party had shown the wisdom in electing Oshiomhole as the national chairman.
Okorocha said, “One could easily imagine what would have been the case if the party had allowed the Oyegun-led NWC to continue and what would have happened at the party’s primaries especially that of the presidency.
What is happening in the party now could not have been planned and executed within these few weeks Oshiomhole took over as the national chairman of the party. Rather, his coming only altered the plan of those who wanted to destroy APC to serve personal interests.
According to him, the campaign for tenure elongation for Odigie-Oyegun was an arrangement to short-change President Muhammadu Buhari at the APC presidential primary for 2019.
He added, “Oshiomhole’s coming was timely. He came at the appropriate time. He is on it and will get it right. All we need to do is to support him.”

Politics / APC Crisis: Senator Ndume Speaks On Impeachment Plot, How Defection Helped Party by WNRealm: 8:18am On Jul 30, 2018
A former Senate Majority Leader, Muhammed Ndume has revealed how the defection of over 13 All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, helped the rest of them come together.
Leave a comment below....
Ndume noted that the defection of some of the APC senators to the PDP had consolidated the ruling party.
Senator Ndume, who represents Borno South in the Senate, told Vanguard that APC still had the majority in the senate.
He also spoke on the alleged plan to impeach the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremmadu, saying there was no such plan.
He said, “The defection of our colleagues made us to consolidate ourselves. Before we were scattered, we had some of us that are following Saraki; those that are following Saraki neck deep have been posted to PDP by Saraki.
“Now, we have senators who Saraki was thinking he had in his pocket, not knowing they were following him maybe for personal reasons or the like, but when he said we are leaving the party, they said no we are APC and we are still standing with our party.
Now we know that we have a confirmed simple majority that we would be able to do whatever we want to do in that Senate.
“If it is going to be voting, we can write people’s name and even say 52 senators are of APC who are in support of whatever Mr President wants.
“Of course, two senators that are even in APGA are in support, working with the APC and, of course, two seats that are vacant and elections are to be done on August 11, we are very confident that the seats belong to APC by God’s grace.
“So, we would have a comfortable majority.”
Speaking on the alleged failed attempt to remove Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Ndume said “there was nothing like planned coup to remove anybody.”
